Hi. I know you did your master's at Utrecht but can you help me with a bachelor's-related question? If my long-term goal is to go into hard sciences and ultimately get a PhD in something like molecular physics, should I go to UU or UCU? I've looked all over the Internet and it's very confusing. From what I can tell, UCU is really an American-style college and also an honors program, but it's also pretty general as a liberal arts and sciences college. So it seems like a great environment, but is the curriculum serious enough to get into a solid hard-science master's program in the US? If my ultimate goal is to get a PhD, should I do a bachelor's at UU or UCU? Thanks in advance!!
Hi! Thanks for the detailed comment. :) I didn't do a Bachelor's in Utrecht but I'll try to answer. I do think that both UU and UCU have their merits and both offer an amazing environment and plenty of opportunities to broaden your horizons. You are right in saying that UCU is more of an American-style college with majors and minors, etc. while UU is more focused on a specific path from the get-go. In my personal opinion, UU might give you a better preparation for an already concrete future (and it seems like you already know the direction you want to head into). Nonetheless, UCU can give you a great, possibly more general base to build on. I hope this helps! :)
so nice to see someone talking so honestly about their masters experience! reassuring to hear that a masters is supposed to feel like hard work lol
Here's the answer for all our questions ;)
