I honestly just hated this zone: so many things just didn't make sense... And the worst part was that it came directly after my favorite Zone in the entire game; Marble Garden Zone.
That's what us 90's kids had to deal with back then. Kids today have the internet in the palm of their hands. They don't know the pain of not knowing all you had to do was push up and down to get that God damn barrel to move.
I just started a new UA-cam playlist called "R&B/Soul dance party". So many people happen to like R&B. Other people like to go clubbin'. So because R&B is such a vague specification that allows for vague distinctness, I used that as an excuse to include this kickass track in it. SonicKAI deserves all the publicity he needs when people stream a playlist for a dance party!
i think i speak for everyone here when i say that whenever we hear this song, we wake up that night soaked in sweat screaming from a nightmare where we were in leopard skin handcuffs and a gimp mask while we were pinned down by michael jackson as Bubbles The Monkey ravaged us and Macaulay Culkin was in a corner laughing and whistling the melody of this music? amirite?
I actually managed to get passed the barrels by jumping up and down. It was only the third time re-beating the game, I learned all I had to do was press up and down.
Of the few Sonic 3 songs that contain remnants of MJ's contributions to the OST, this is one of them. So that would explain it. Unfortunate that it wasn't in Sonic Jam.
When you listen close to this you can clearly recognize the Michael Jackson'ish bassline, besides from the Jam similarity. MJ definitely composed this track and others for Sonic 3
I know he did with this song. He made himself uncredited with the soundtrack though 'cause he wasn't pleased with the quality of the music coming from the system at the time. Just "wiki" about it you'll learn more.
If Eggman locked Sonic in a room with this playing over and over again, I think he'd finally manage to defeat him. Hmm...MAYbe THAT'S why Eggman is the way he is now. All these years creating carnivals and using intense music has robbed him of his sanity. XD
I love that barrel! It can make you jump high for you to get to hidden power ups! I really don't see how people can't get past that barrel. Just press up and down! This zone is my favorite zone and its pretty fun if you get past that barrel. UP AND DOWN! UP AND DOWN!
I can`t believe so many people had trouble with the barrel. I played it at least 15 years ago, I must`ve been 10 years old or something and it still only took me less than a minute to figure it out. I`m not implying that I`m particularly smart, I`m claiming that those who failed it are stupid.
this reminds of the time i went to a fair, and got inside that spinning ride that makes the seats go up and hit the wall, yeah, i use to ride that upside down .man i miss old school sonic T.T
that barrel had to be one of THE most genius ideas of sega back in the day. the amount of times I very nearly destroyed my controller trying to pass that barrel, and all it took was a simple "up and down" on the d-pad. I think I very nearly turned off the game when I figured that out back when I first had sonic 3 -_-;
OMG I remember being stuck on this as a kid. I tried the most skillful jumping patterns on that thing. I even hooked up an extra controller to get Tails to help me with my jumping patterns but no matter what I did time always hit 9:59 and then that fatal additional second. Whatever that damn thing was it was possibly the hardest non attacking boss in the game.
me & my best friend sing this acapella style when we need a jam to rock out to. looove this song! leave it to sonic to have the best version of the carnival theme!
This music is actually something michale Jackson did when he was working with the Sega team. He originaly did most of the music but thought it sounded bad and left. Then after his criminal thing Sega covered it up but left some loops from michale Jackson already songs that already existed.
@Envoyofbacon actually i do, if you havn't noticed it yet, nearly all of sonicKAI's videos just stop abrubtly at certain times. i think it has something to do with the compression or something.
i dont know how extreme micheal jackson fans can say this is JAM... it just sounds like it, its just mixing to loop so the music can start again. just the glass smash sound,, its at the start too....maybe inspired by, producer probably heard jam, and thought thats it that i wana use to end carnival night zone music.
Someone who has a guide to Sonic 3 calls this a twisted version of "Entrance of the Gladiators." I call it a carnival song with samples of Entrance of the Gladiators and Jam by Michael Jackson and Michael Jordan.
this was and will always be my favorite game. I got all 7 emeralds as sonic alone, tails alone and sonic and tails!!! I have played this game multiple times and will never get sick of it! (just like I logged over 1,000 hours on LoZ: Twilight Princess in high attempts to glitch the damn thing six months after purchase! XD Lmao, it worked so well too!)
I could keep this track playing infinitely while I play my life.
Allen Andrews LoL
Legend has it, the ghost of Michael Jackson still haunts this track to this day.
Glamsus He does not you silly.
It's a joke.
Finally, a person who tells somebody it's a joke without spamming "WOOOOSH AHHAHAH XDDD".
TrueJediLegend god thing you didnt have to explain it or i would have pulled up a r/woosh card
Why are people talking about the barrel here when it's found in Act 2?
Actually, each act has a slightly different variation of the music.
Same people who complain about the ghosts in Act 2 of Sandopolis Zone on the Act 1 music video.
I just want to say how perfectly your pfp matches with this comment
But that beat drop tho...
Brianna McDaniel It sounds like someone breaking a glass bottle to me
All i had to do was move up and down…. UP AND DOWN?! What the FU--- *ded*
Yeah. I was a jumper too. T_T
lol sonic paradox reference
indeed
Why, the living fuck, does it hint you that jumping on the barrel changes its height.
I used to jump on the barrel
i feel sorry for the people who got stuck on the barrels...
it was more hell than hell itself
Had to youtube it to figure it out
I'm just here for the food.
I honestly just hated this zone: so many things just didn't make sense...
And the worst part was that it came directly after my favorite Zone in the entire game; Marble Garden Zone.
You feel sorry for me? At least someone does.
This music LITERALLY describes what I think when I'm alone or bored.
You can't help but smile when you hear this.

I always liked those break sounds, followed by the cool silence! Then start's up again. Like a boss...
the sound is from Michael Jacksons song "Jam"
*starts* 🤣
Sonic music is the best.
the world would become a better place if people listened to this ost more
The real evil of *THE BARREL* is that it's making everyone overlook thr kickass music. I for one love the "hip-hop circus" vibe of this.
This has been my ringtone since 2009.
They should play this song at any carnival. That would be awsome!!!
after 11 years
i still went to watch this
yeah
Fastest hedgehog alive. Crushed between two slow-moving barrels.
I love that slap/snapping sound. So addictive when combined with the synth bass. Hahaha
So glad I watched Sonic Shorts before playing this game...
ikr
+Quiggity Quooty Up and down? UP AND DOWN!?!? WHAT THE F- *time expires*
That's what us 90's kids had to deal with back then. Kids today have the internet in the palm of their hands. They don't know the pain of not knowing all you had to do was push up and down to get that God damn barrel to move.
I don't no about u but I played sonic 3 on PS3 and I tried jumping...
ok boome- ok cancer meme.
Sonic: How does this barrel thingy work?
A few minites later.....
Sonic: finally!! i found out how to use thi...
TIME UP!!!!
Fuuuck! So I'm not the only one who got stuck with the spinning barrel thing! It took me years to figure that shit out. Wow unbelievable lol!
The music and Casino Night are the best music for this game.
Guess who inspired/probably composed this, Micheal fucking Jackson.
***** don't forget sonic 2's casino night zone 2p!
Woah! I knew about him doing some of 3's music, but CD's and 2's Casino Night 2p also!?
eeeyup
Woah! *brain implodes*
>.>
when I hear this, I think of that white and diamond barrel going round and up and down lol
"All I have to do is move up and down? UP. AND DOWN?!
WHAT THE FU--"
Time over
Best Carnival music I've ever heard. Some of the best Sonic music I've heard too!
funny, the length of this song just so happens to be the same length of time I played that fricken level over and over
i would go to the carnival everyday if they play that song lol i sure miss the 90s, everything has change
Im pretty sure this is how hell sounds like
I just started a new UA-cam playlist called "R&B/Soul dance party".
So many people happen to like R&B. Other people like to go clubbin'. So because R&B is such a vague specification that allows for vague distinctness, I used that as an excuse to include this kickass track in it.

solo era arriba y abajo javier, me pase 1 año estancado ahí y llorando con el joystick en la mano de la bronca jaja, que recuerdos.
Used to play this on piano, this 'silly' theme gave my friends and I so much pleasure. Love the 'fun fare' or 'amusement park' feeling of it.
i think i speak for everyone here when i say that whenever we hear this song, we wake up that night soaked in sweat screaming from a nightmare where we were in leopard skin handcuffs and a gimp mask while we were pinned down by michael jackson as Bubbles The Monkey ravaged us and Macaulay Culkin was in a corner laughing and whistling the melody of this music? amirite?
None of my songs come from any website. I take all of them from the games themselves.
CAN THIS THING GET MORE FANTABULOUS?!?!
"all the people at the circus eating hot dooogs"
SonicKAI thanks for the music for my playlists to pay you back I'm subscribing
Imagine going to a night time fun fare and playing this sound lol
I actually managed to get passed the barrels by jumping up and down. It was only the third time re-beating the game, I learned all I had to do was press up and down.
It ain't too hard for me to Jam, it ain't too hard for me to Jam, this is literally the carnival song of the song Jam by Michael Jackson :P
Because MJ helped to make it.Irony? Or nahhhhhhh?!
Of the few Sonic 3 songs that contain remnants of MJ's contributions to the OST, this is one of them. So that would explain it. Unfortunate that it wasn't in Sonic Jam.
I can't stop jamming to this omg
I played this at Toys R Us. The 90s was the best.
Diamond Heart Only 90s kids will remember the feels. ;-;
Samevi I remember the feels from Sonic 2. And I was born in 2002.
xX_qWiksc0prArminzz_Xx
oh ok
It’s been a gazillion years since I first heard this and I still wanna hear Insane Clown Posse rap over this! LOL
When you listen close to this you can clearly recognize the Michael Jackson'ish bassline, besides from the Jam similarity. MJ definitely composed this track and others for Sonic 3
Kawamanimes heavy D voice is in this it’s compressed version of him saying jam
This songs will go great with IT the movie lol trailer
Well at least it's nice to have control over a squeaky clean hedgehog. :3
i really act like a clown from hearing this
I remember getting stuck on those barrels. I used to jump up and down, but then realized, I just need to do it once. :)
Barrel of doom is the best boss in a videogame.
Didn't Michael Jackson help make this soundtrack
I know he did with this song. He made himself uncredited with the soundtrack though 'cause he wasn't pleased with the quality of the music coming from the system at the time. Just "wiki" about it you'll learn more.
Santana Moss i read that he was uncredited because he had that scandal going at the time...Not sure if i believe it though.
peter m I wouldn't be surprised at one or the other.
This song haunts my dreams
i actually liked it. it was a good spin on a typical type of music (carnival music in general)
If Eggman locked Sonic in a room with this playing over and over again, I think he'd finally manage to defeat him. Hmm...MAYbe THAT'S why Eggman is the way he is now. All these years creating carnivals and using intense music has robbed him of his sanity. XD
This song is based off of Michael Jackson's jam
Sonic: Let's bring this place down.
Tails: 'Cuz Eggman built it?
Sonic: 'CUZ THEY DON'T SERVE CHILI DOGS!!
I used get the casino zone mixed up with the carnival night zone for some random reason
estuve un mes para saber que tenia q hacer arriba abajo para poder pasar este nivel, tenia como 8 años -.-!
Ugh, the nostalgia.. It hurts...
That's it, I'm getting my Dsi and playing Sonic Classic Collection!!!
I love that barrel! It can make you jump high for you to get to hidden power ups! I really don't see how people can't get past that barrel. Just press up and down! This zone is my favorite zone and its pretty fun if you get past that barrel. UP AND DOWN! UP AND DOWN!

This song looping while struggling to figure out how the barrels work is oddly fitting.
Shout out to those who could not get past the barrel on act 2, but managed to get through Carnival Night using Debug Mode! ;D
that barrel had to be one of THE most genius ideas of sega back in the day. the amount of times I very nearly destroyed my controller trying to pass that barrel, and all it took was a simple "up and down" on the d-pad. I think I very nearly turned off the game when I figured that out back when I first had sonic 3 -_-;

Adding that I struggled to figure out the barrel.
My first copy of Sonic 3 bricked and I never discovered the secret of the barrel for awhile.
actually you can press up and down according which direction the barrel is traveling. if its going up then press up if its going down press down.
If you're telling me you got the barrel on your first try without failing at first because you tried to jump on it, you're lying to the max.
I Love the music & the zone BUT THE DAMN BARRELS WAS A NIGHTMARE. thankfully, i finally knew a way 2 get passed them
me & my best friend sing this acapella style when we need a jam to rock out to. looove this song!
leave it to sonic to have the best version of the carnival theme!
That's exactly my source. It only confirms that Carnival Night Zone was composed by Jackson.
Guys, the barrel was sort of on Act 2.
This music is actually something michale Jackson did when he was working with the Sega team. He originaly did most of the music but thought it sounded bad and left. Then after his criminal thing Sega covered it up but left some loops from michale Jackson already songs that already existed.
valid point there.
@Envoyofbacon actually i do, if you havn't noticed it yet, nearly all of sonicKAI's videos just stop abrubtly at certain times. i think it has something to do with the compression or something.
Come on up, Sonic! I got a balloon for ya!
Amazing. I love it. :))

Gabe: Episode 3 delayed
Salesman: FUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Seriously... I think this is the best song of Sonic 3 :PIt's pretty fun :p
I love how they put part of MJ's Jam in here :)
totally oldskool love this music from sonic 3
*points and laughs at everyone who thought the barrel was hard*
Sonic's stayed ahead of Mario cause of these sick beats
Marble Garden and Carnival Night made me less inclined to play Sonic 3 back then. No good memories. Only pain and suffering.
I don’t care how late I am to comment, but I just relate to this song on a spiritual level. A hellish and repetitive blob fish. XD
everytime i hear this song i always hear "all the people people in the circus eating hotdooooogs do do dodo dododododo" xD
They should have called it "Circus Night Zone" because the music sounds more Circus-like than something that would play at a carnival
Someone who has a guide to Sonic 3 calls this a twisted version of "Entrance of the Gladiators." I call it a carnival song with samples of Entrance of the Gladiators and Jam by Michael Jackson and Michael Jordan.
this makes me think of brutalmoose
The carnival that comes by my town plays this exact song.
Whoa! You're right!
Haha!! You're so right!! Good one!
This made my day!!! XD XD
this was and will always be my favorite game.
My first HipHop song as young boy in 94 looool
This music has always made me laugh, ever since I was little.. And, it makes me hyper. 0__o
The barrel might have stopped you right there
when I played this on sonic mega collection I played sonic 3&knuckles I played as knuckles and this level was HELL
This is REAL dubstep.
