    Just got the New LONE RIDER ADV TENT. What do you think about the video? Let me know in the comments below and also let me know what tent are you using on your trips.

      Well done for erecting the tent in real time (others seem to FF that bit)! It was good to see exactly how it goes together. It certainly has many great features, but for one thing that will be a major pain very often in the UK (but same as many other tents)...
      Erecting it in pouring rain will mean that the inside will resemble a paddling pool, by the time the outer is over the top! :-( I'll probably have to stick with my new Khyam Biker Plus (despite one or two shortcomings). Although much bigger - like your old tent - it is very quick to erect, with the inside remaining dry. I'll add a link to that little review I did below (so you can delete it if you think it's not appropriate.)
      Once again, well done for this insight. darth.

      You can set it it up in the rain. Jus put the inner tent last. Using the sos sheet underneath as intended.
      Should really make a video of this feature. Thanks for dropping in.

      Yes, absolutely. I do use the ADV Tent for shorter Trips or as a fall back if If I can't find a room. TBH on my last 50day trip, I camped only 9 times. It is hand to have.

    Thanks for sharing. IMHO, too complicated and unnecessarily too heavy. Just because we’re riding motorcycles doesn’t mean we should be adding needless weight without thinking about it in terms of beneficial return. I’ll stick with my TarpTent Double Rainbow, that also served me very well for a 2,200 mile AT thru-hike.

    • @MOTOTravelUK
      @MOTOTravelUK  2 роки тому

      Overthinking the weight is false economy. My bike is 500 pounds so a kg or makes no difference 🤔. It all depends. I'm off for 3 months now and I'm glad I got a tent ⛺️.

    Great video. Great tent. I have a RedVerz which I did over 75 countries with it and I love it but now I am getting older and considering down sizing! O:(( and also not having a tent that takes an entire 60 liter bag to store! I loved it back then if it would rain and I would invite my "neighbors" with the small tents to join me and stay dry while having a meal! Who really cares about having an adventure bike in the tent!!!! I (and so have most of you) have ridden over 100,000 miles in whatever weather and nothing happened to the bike!! Be safe you all! Cheers

      I downsized a year ago from the big moto tent to the adv tent. However, I'm back using my big tent again. I just enjoy the space. On a rainy day, you can't beat that bit more space.

    Nice little review, Ive also just received my tent to, but not yet put mine up. I would never use a two man tent for two people, two man tent is the minimum for one guy, you then have plenty of room for your kit. Incidentily, that little zipped hole you mentioned for extra ventilation, is actualy to attatch a cable to the bike then to kit inside the tent, bit of extra security.

      Silly me I figured it out after I finished my video. It was just a first look. Time to make a follow up and compare it with the big brother. Thanks for your comment. As always very much appreciated. 👍

      Either security tab, or if you have power then a power cable to a laptop (for example).Whether this is a cable from the bike or a powered campsite the idea is the same.

    Hello Stéphane, thanks a lot for tour great video on the ADV Lone rider tent. By the way, are you using a air matress on top of your cot , which type of sleeping bag are you using….Thanks a lot , best regards, Alain from France.
    PS: I bought a Lone Rider Moto tent thanks to your videos and expérience feed-back !! 😉

    • @MOTOTravelUK
      @MOTOTravelUK  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Alain, very Nice to Herr from you.
      You need a matt on the cot. First for comfort and second for insulation. I use a thermarest mat in warm weather or a seatosumint 2 chamber mat for colder weather. Also it is good practice to put your bags and riding gear under the cot to stop circulation of colder air. Make a big difference.
      My sleeping bag is from cumulus in Poland. Super small and lightweight.
      Not cheap, but my old one lasted 30 years and is still in use in winter, when I use both together.
      Hope this helps.
      Anymore questions, just keep asking. All the best Steph 👍

      @@MOTOTravelUK Lovely, thanks. Hopefully will try out this week. Wife and I do weekend touring with 1 set of soft panniers (sw-motech blaze) and a dry duffel for sleeping bags/mats slung as a tailbag on a pair of small Ninjas (650/400), I have to say Im disappointed with the internal size. It will definitely be cramped as a clown car to fit it all plus 2 touring suits and helmets, but for the unmatched small packed size I guess I cant complain.

    Lone rider do great products but I always feel that a tent where you put up the sleeping pop before the fly sheet is a nightmare when it’s raining and ends up wet on the inside. I know the mototent is big to carry but may be a better option in the rain.

    Interesting. other than the SOS sheet, I dont see anything that separates it as a motorcycling tent versus any other camping tent available through REI etc. As opposed to the Mototent which has features more specific to motorcycle camping. Even though those features make it a bulkier item to carry

    • @MOTOTravelUK
      @MOTOTravelUK  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Michael. Thank you for dropping by. You definitely have a point. What is a motorbike tent anyway?
      I do have the Mototent now on the go for 6 long jears on countless trips. In all sorts of weather.
      The AdvTent is made of the same material, the same spec and no corners cut. For me this is important. I can rely on it. And since I depend on my tent on my trips, well I'm gone for this one.
      TBH I using my MotoTent more often, but if I'm travelling light, the ADV Tent is my Nr1.
      The fact the tent fits in the panniers is a bonus but not as important to me.
      Keep it up. Steph

      @michaelhazen8658 3 роки тому +1

      @@MOTOTravelUK Ha! I dont know that Im prepared to define a "motorbike tent" because there are so many things to consider - size of the rider being just one. But one thing I can note - bike camping takes more gear than typical hike camping. And much of your stuff you dont really want sitting out in the dew and rain, or you want to keep an eye on it. That means a 2 man tent gets crowded in a hurry. I think that makes the MotoTent a more interesting idea.
      Cheers! Keep riding!

    I have a Coleman 3 person tent that sets up lots faster that has more room 7’x7’x42” that I wouldn’t trade even for that tent, and the storage bag is about same size.
    I’d hate to have to set that tent up in the rain. And I’d hate to be in it during bad weather, the tent looks cumbersome and time consuming to put up for such small space.

    • @MOTOTravelUK
      @MOTOTravelUK  4 роки тому +1

      Tents are a very personal thing. If you are happy with your tent, excellent. I prefer bigger tents and normally I use the mototent.
      But as I said, a very personal choice. I never used or seen the model you are referring to , so it whould be wrong for me to even talk about it.

      I looked and the tent I have is not even on the market any more. But it’s a fast pitch takes me around 4 minutes to set up. Has three poles two that crosses on top of tent and one for vestibule over front doorway. You are correct tents are personal and I personally rather would have a tent that I can completely set up in so less of time that also has more space, but yet packs up small to put on my Harley.
      But on a good note while I was trying to find one like mine I did find another one that gave more head room with little less floor space then the one I have, it to is by Coleman, the tent is very affordable $51.00, its size is 7’x5’x4’ only losing a 2 foot in floor space to add about a foot more in head room, sets up just like mine. They are dome tents.
      I’ve had mine for a few years and it keeps me dry hasn’t never leaked, also does pretty good in strong winds.

      @@MOTOTravelUK New subsciber and loving the channel. Quick question on the comparison with the bigger tent: with my MSR Hubba Hubba, I pakc the tent/rain fly/ground cloth together by stuffing them into their stuff sack (i.e., not folding and rolling). I find it's easier, faster, and better (in that it doesn't create creases that, over time, could develop leaks). Do you think that approach is possible? Also, how do you pack these on your bike? Across the seat, or on the panniers? Thanks!
