Honestly would be way scarier if it didn't explain what "The Mass" is and just lets you panic at interpreting whatever the hell "The Mass chases from below" means
You'd think they'd learn after the first and subsequent flesh floods, but the boneheads at the headquarters can't be boned to move their hindquarters and do anything about it.
Now that you mention it and I think about it, yeah. Their grip may not last *that* long when climbing, but they can lift themselves up by one arm. Basically to the point where their left arm is fully extended downwards, allowing them to grab stuff pretty far.
I think it's way better not being one. VR has a certain slop to its controls that would make this more frustrating than fun I think. I LOVE how tight and fast these controls are, having played the demo.
@@subhazard4297 imagine how tired your arms would be playing this in VR lol. will you actually have to raise your arms like you're climbing, or will it let you reach forward while looking up? blah blah blah, the mechanics are probably weird not matching your experience, so you probably will have to look up and reach up. it'll be like the Wiimotes hitting TV screens, but instead it's Oculus VR players accidentally slamming their desk trying to climb up, and punching the light stand next to them. i think it would suck in VR, but would still be fun occasionally if you're just messing around. i'd just low down on my bed until I drop my controllers on my face (i hate the straps)
A+ decision to make your pasty little prisoner hands function as a stamina meter. I really like the tentacle critters, too, they very much seem to be just chilling in something very much like their natural habitat, eating bugs and detritus: I imagine they'd live off your corpse for months.
That's a tense session! Nothing worse than having something chase you down while trying to focus on climbing! I like how the stamina is represented from the hands getting tense from the pressure of holding onto something for too long.
Who made that game? For an indie it looks so polished. Mechanics from stamina for both hands and also lowered when holding many items to good parkour. Artstyle that's both gritty but also clear. Good map layout. Hard to believe this was made either by one person or by someone inexperienced in game dev.

I feel like there was a missed opportunity to have the items you drop make a loud, reverberating sound as they bounce off of objects. I feel like it would really sell the height that you're operating at if you knock something off and hear it hit the bottom a while later

Oh no, this game remembered the thing about climbing most games omit: Your hands get fucking tired. Dreading the day someone iterates on this with a sweat factor. This does look super unique and tense, though.
Seeing all the small details before actually getting visuals on what _The Mass_ in game looked like, it's one thing if it were a congealed sentient mass like the player in Carrion or something akin to Prototype Blacklight infected, but it's another when it's literally just _a rising pool of corpses that "chase" as opposed to "rise"._
I've been playing this game a lot since the demo came out and it's honestly incredible! It's so polished and stylish, and there's a LOT of variety with areas, enemies, obstacles, items, etc. that even after 8 hours I haven't seen half of it - *and this is still just a demo*
I had a friend who fumbled an egg during his climb. It had a great fall. This game actually looks pretty neat. The graphics and interactions are snappy and it features more than just climbing. It feels like it's the logical conclusion thus far for all of these climbing games.
Wow. Sometimes I feel like I'm desensitized to suspense and horror. But I genuinely mean it when I say this game absolutely nails it on giving the feeling of suspense and fear. Me as the viewer alone would feel so much anxiety, thinking of what could happen if you missed a jump, failed to hang on and all. Yet I could not look away. Might be looking into things too much. But the fact that it looks like your hands will turn a darker red to indicate the 'pain' of holding on for too long? That's honestly a great thing to add in! Really tapping into that familiar feeling of getting the hell out of somewhere. And if we even take a second glance back, could be trouble for us. That's me whenever I seem to turn off all the lights in a room, then speed-walking to close the door behind me the fastest at least!
The first sign of an amazing game is when a short description/elevator pitch of what the game is sounds so compelling you feel like you have to check it out, awesome premise and congrats on finding such a good title and description.

This game is sooo f ing fun. This might come off as mean but you can climb far, far faster than ABG is once you realize that when the tutorial says "anything is a ledge" it means it. There are ledges that don't look climbable *everywhere* and a huge ton of jumps that can hugely speed you up. Playing on controller, I can only get to like 1300 m on average, but this game is definitely worth the struggle.
saw this and immediatelly reminded me of Portal 2 The Fall chapter upon watchng more, i've came to the realization that this game is very Half Life 1/2 and Portal 1/2 inspired.

This game is a dream come true, by which I mean every nightmare I had as a kid. Desolate structures, being abandoned, the darkness, murky water(?). The only think missing is a spindly grinning monster that eats me front the feet up, oh wait there it is.

The game mechanic is amazing! Its super original , requiring the two hands to actually stay on the wall. I can actually feel the climb unlike the other AAA games.

This felt like a lot longer than 15 minute video! With All the climbing I swear it felt like I was watching an hour long vid! Pretty good though the climbing mechanics are freaking insane!
Incredible ambiance. My palms were sweating, even the soles of my feet were sweating (ew). I would love it if there were more lore behind the setting, but that's hard to get when you're climbing for your life. Maybe the game opens up and provides more story as you climb higher. Masterful suspense.
I just saw a video of the Silent Place game before this, and it got me thinking this game would be perfect for a similar mechanic of trying to avoid making sounds so as not to alert some creature. Like being careful not to hit metal too hard when jumping and grabbing ledges, knocking over items, or being careful with throwing items and hammering them to the wall.
My only complaint about this game is that the light-red color the hands turn when they just start getting tired is way too close to a regular human skin tone. So I just keep seeing it as the player character sporadically becoming caucasian every few seconds.

I like how the left hand has less stamina than the right implying the protagonist is right handed... The game looks great.
I think it's because the player started all their climbs with the left hand so it got the lion's share and never got a chance to cool down

MC seems to be campus climbing, seeing how hands are getting tired so quickly on ladders too. Climbing ladders no-feet on principle is a chad move.
