@@animesh_maity Being an architect does not make someone selfless in their decisions. Here UK, a possible example in London, is the Architects own home, the front in road parking space for local residents, neighbours and possibly public, they occupied with oversized planted pots. Seems they didn't need the space but they also didn't want any cars including from the local school infront of their home, windows. The architect in this video took into consideration their neighbours view. 💚
hey zarine please dont stop doing what you are doing. It was one of the greatest example how can architecture make you feel certain way. I felt the peace of that house through video. Amazing!!
I never thought I’d ever say these words but Zarine, Nicely done. I came across a collection of photos of this house elsewhere and what really caught my eye at the time being a Hi-Fi Audiophile Enthusiast were the Rethm Speakers from Ar.Jacob George. Never had I realised you’d done your home there. I’m really feeling happy and fulfilled knowing that there still exists Architects who actually live up to the real purpose of their mastery.
Eventhough she insists it's not the aesthetics/uniqueness she is rooting for, i kinda feel too much emphasis was put into it that hinders the practicality of living there day in and day out against the forces of nature. But I'm sure they have contingencies put in place considering how experienced they are. It should've been covered in the video for us commoners to put things into perspective.
As an architect living in Kerala, I would love to see more houses like this, but it's practically impossible for a normal family to live and maintain it. If this is a holiday home, which means it would be closed up for a major part of the year, then I guess it would work. But for a normal family with normal everyday problems, this would raise a lot of concerns. Apart from practicality, this is an amazing architectural experimentation, something we don't often strive for.
what would you say are the major concerns for someone building this type of home for everyday use in kerala? Would the construction materials not last? Would the plantation on the roof create issue? Im just curious. TIA

Hiya Zarine.... Somehow the video, the house, and your concept, connected with me. Been thinking on the subject for quite a while, but wasn't able to find a way forward. Your video gives me something more to think about. Thanks much.
Stunning! Really appreciate your guiding principles, the dedication to sustainability, and design aesthetic. Wish I could afford to have a house and have it designed!
Buildofy is just inspirational. Dhwaj and team, you guys sometime make me realise my purpose when I am engaged in my day to day activites. Thanks a lot, keep compiling the best works.
Lovely design. I enjoy the architect explanation. Not very often does an architect explains so well the philosophical reasons behind it. Every element was thought through. It all makes sense. Even the Rethm speakers.
Very very happy to see your house what I was thinking about. But I am stuck by usual urban practices, vastu and other beliefs. I am struggling with those construction workers everyday for having little greenary into and around my home. Your video will surely help me to justify my vision. It encourages me to take bold decisions to make my concrete walls into green walls. Thank u for sharing your home.
Vastu includes calculations & numbers along with alignment of planetary bodies on earth, rain, light, wind, place of worship in home, gate, location of home in a plot of land, location of open well, water bodies etc. This was broadly checked before constructing a building/house. Every architect will study the above things before constructing, which mean they all follow vastu. But there are some vastu expert fools, who tell you that it should be made in this or that matter or so and provide you a plan of their own which is simply bs*.
the roof top grass - closed the deal for me. Humans are amazing. Beautiful Inspiring story , Thanks for sharing Zarina and Alan. We need homes like this in South Africa.
hey again, thank you for sharing such warm, wonderful and sensible homes that have a purpose behind its creation. i am grateful to the architects of this house, the lady and her husband for the sensitivity they carry in their living. i would love to visit this house someday as an architect myself to experience this warm abode. wish we can have more of case study trips to such wonderful homes.
The house exudes a striking simplicity and elegance. However, I have a few reservations regarding potential issues with mosquitos and rain, as the house is situated below ground level in a damp area. The proximity of the swimming pool to the bedroom is undoubtedly aesthetically pleasing, but it may seem awkward to have it placed so close without any separation in between but just an edge.
As an Architect and Engineer myself - I don't find anything great about this design or construction. But I see a certain ingenuity in concept. What I do like ... and love ...is how this house has been built with simplicity, and in harmony with nature. I listen to this woman speak ..and she is a very gentle spoken person ..and her own nature is incorporated into her design and reason for that design. Its hard to see any traditional concept in this design...but i think if I had to put a word to describe this design..it would ne harmony. She has both cats and dogs. And her design has shown not only love for her future harmony and way of life...but has also incorporated full thought for safety of her animals in an area fraught with wild animals. Kudos for a job well done.
literally smiled when I heard her say "we didn't want to block the view of the neighbor behind who also bought the property to enjoy the view in the front". She's an amazing architect and even better human ❤❤
I have few concerns 1) what about snakes? Like with that open wide doors, isnt it so easy for snake to come in? 2) what about protection from theives? Wont they break that big of a glass so easy and enter??
