- Lavender harvest in round bales in Valensole in the Provence region, France. This farmer is using a self-build 3-row harvester based on a Claas Dominator combine where the threshing part has been removed and replaced by a Gallignani baler.

Are the “steamed bales” returned to the fields to be used as soil amendment or are they composted? Does anyone know? Merci!
In my region they are composted together with mushroommanure, when the farm plants a new field (yearly) the entire compost pit is plowed in the new field so it’s a once a year job.

What then happens to the bales that were used?
I presume they go into distillery and made into oils for cooking. The wastage could be turned into cattle feed or food for other animals.

Il ne faut pas être sensible ou fatigué, le camphre présent dans le lavandin fatigue le foie à la longue mais la récolte ne dure pas très longtemps donc le corps élimine bien.
