@@KATIUSHKACHILE I don’t know anything about the band, but the song falls under a traditional American folk song from that generation. Let’s not mix a bluegrass playing style with the original style.
@@KATIUSHKACHILE if you want real Bluegrass, search for Bill Monroe and the blue grass boys. He is considered the father of bluegrass movement in America, and the most authentic. Bluegrass originated from the Appalachian mountains. Jug blowing and slap bass are not original instruments used in bluegrass. Guitars, mandolins, washboards, banjos, fiddles, and high tenor voices are the center of this style in my opinion. Backed of course with a strong influence of Christian, and Celtic heritage.
I've said it before,.... but I will say it again... I absolutly LOVE this band . For a modern day blue grass band, they have to be the all around best . Not only is their music great,.... their stage presence makes them fun to watch . I sure hope you guys stay together, and play together for a very long time.... and if you ever come to the Seattle area.... I want to know .
I have heard this song played by many groups, many times but dont think it has been played better than TMJB. Leroy does an excellent job on the banjo. Thank GOD there are still real musicians playing real music.
The role of the jug was to provide the bass, when you have a string bass you don't need the jug. In fact, like here, the string bass drowns out the jug.
You can hear all instruments used for this track. If you listen very closely, with the base, you can hear the "jug". This entire track is "YeHaw" awesome! Classic and timeless. Thanks for sharing!
You can hear the jug in harmony with the cello, if your sound is capable of low range. It isn't designed to 'be heard' so much as it is to add depth of field to the sound of the music and it does a pretty good job.
Actually, Ferg made garnered international attention when he purchased the world's largest cello (seen here) from the Bate collection of musical instruments at Oxford ;)

@@kevboeingkins5592 what is it, then? Because I find this video looking for bluegrass

YEAH,....JUST LOVE SOME OF THEIR EXPRESSIONS....!!!
Need to invent an electric jug lol
Atlas
They did, in the 1950s, but people kept touching their lips to the jug and electrocuting themselves.
You use a clip on trombone mike. All it then needs is for the sound maan to remember to turn it up!
Drink enough of the contents of the jug and, well, you'll not need the electrification.
The 13th floor elevators used one. Awesome sound it creates.
13th Floor Elevators used an electric jug on almost every song on their first two albums. Amazing psych rock, worth checking out.
Wish the icecream truck played this version :D

You'd still notice the lack of the jug if you removed it is fills out the sound.
Can we just talk about how amazing the fiddler was? Aaron till is so good it’s crazy!!!! 🎻
The guy with the jug just adds atmosphere. I love the guy lol XD Im not mad at him for producing no sounds.
He's there. Listen closer. Especially at the end. It's not his fault the sound guy didn't turn up his mic enough.
@@daltonw.1687 Listen to the bassline, you can hear slightly the difference between the bass and jug
@@EliezerPennywhistler As a sound person - it's difficult to mic a jug in a live setting....especially with an acoustic band...feedback.
I always thought this would be a great Make A Wish moment for the kids to blow on the jug in a performance.

Nice job, boys ! Now, where's the "squeezins ?" (aka "Shine, moonshine, white lightnin', etc. etc., etc...) LOL
The jug player can basically do whatever he wants and it won’t matter. You can kind hear it once in a while if you really try hard to listen.
