"Jug or not Jug", this music his happy, perfect, in Key of. JoC...I like this and remember me my first "skiffle group" in France (copy of Lonnie Donegan-Chris Barber English skiffle group) in 1959...One "original Jug Band has not bass fiddle but one self made instrument with one cigar box and others things (?!?!)The comments by Bob Bo are rights and true. Thank you for this video. Best Wishes from France. JO LUTTRINGER
A timeless tune from days of ole. It's not even about liquor but a way of life.... mountain music & dance when the weekend came after working hard during the week. This song favored before the soda mountain dew came into focus. And the religious nuts judge & criticize our fun of mountain hillbilly lifestyle, but they say ignorance Is blitz. I keep my mountain dew.
I just discovered the TMJ band this morning . WOW... you guys are GREAT . I have LOVED every video I have watched . This is the BEST "new" bluegrass group I have heard in a LONG LONG time . anywhere I can get in touch to buy some of your cd's ?
This band may do jug band songs, but having"Jug Band" in their name doesn't, mean everything they do is "jug band.."The song "Mountain Dew,"was written by Bescom Lamar Lunsford. I have Grandpa Jones doing it on King records cat.#554. Jug Band was, originally, indigenous to the South, invented in the 30s-40s by Black musicians >Memphis Jug Band, Canon's Jug Stompers etalJug bands frequently had a jug, washboard, wastub bass, guitar maybe kazoo, etc. There was a resurgence in the 60s-coffee houses.
...couldn't they have found any other name but one with 'mafia' in it? I think the dude with the jug and singing tenor must be Leroy's dad or bro?? ...just too much favor there!!

Oh, so THAT'S where Mountain Dew comes from!
Quite true, just as having Mafia in their name doesn't mean they do Italian music either. None the less, they are great and well worth a listen.

what is jugband music?
The jug player is the guitar player's Dad. No relation to Leroy.
jug player is a brother oswald imitator ... banjo player is an uncle dave imitator ... fiddle player is a musician
...couldn't they have found any other name but one with 'mafia' in it? I think the dude with the jug and singing tenor must be Leroy's dad or bro?? ...just too much favor there!!
Leroy Troy is cute
All other versions pale in comparison.
