This is tremendous. One week ago today, Tift Merritt opened for Mary Chapin Carpenter at the Variety Theater in Atlanta. For MCC's encore, she brought Tift out and the closed the show doing three of Mary's biggest hits, then for the finale "Only In Songs" . . . paced a bit faster with two guitars and piano; Tift singing lead with the two ladies also harmonizing. It was wonderful, beyond wonderful. I'm lighting a candle to find that rendition sometime, somewhere again in my life.
