    Thats my favorite part of WA. A short trip from where i live in Vancouver. My buddy and i are heading there this coming weekend. May be a bit chilly but we are doing some fishing and bushcraft.

    Takhlakh Lake, beautiful spot, this time of year is the only time you can find a camp spot there. The place is like Grand Central Station during the summer.

    I follow alot of PNW based YTs and a couple national ones so I get around to yours periodically. As a consequence, I see it in fits and spurts which really highlights the development of the channel. Your photography, videography, droneography? have all notably improved. Your channel has a slower style but I think that's one of it's charms and its a good niche for you as it seems to fit your exploration style and personality. I also like that you have focused on getting out and not just gear aquisition. I think one of the greatest hinderances to newcomers is that it's all too common to focus on the gear. I've been doing this for at least 3 decades and I've only had cool gear for the last 5 years or so. Anybody can get out with a stock SUV (or Subaru) and basic car camping gear. Starting with basic Forest Service Roads is a great way to get experience and make one more comfortable. Your channel is definitely one I would send newbies too as it sends the right messages. Keep up the good work!

    Love your style of adventuring. Too many people get to stuck on detailed itineraries. Going with a vague idea and some highlights you want to hit is best. Tailor the trip as it goes along. It allows you to see more and reduces stress. It's a concept that really helps beginners who I think are otherwise too overwhelmed with the idea of planning routes & campsites. I like that you go with your family as well. Historically, I do an October trip in the SW with my own Mom. She's in her late 70s but spends weeks traveling the West every year just sleeping in the back of her T4R with her dog.
    Exped makes some nice camp pillows too.

    • @ConquestOverland
      @ConquestOverland  2 роки тому +1

      I definitely have, especially with new models like RSI SmartCap but I really enjoy the low height and better aerodynamics this setup provides. All the gear in the bed can be exposed to the elements with no issue, so that doesn't concern me as much. There are numerous options on the market for weatherproof sealed cargo cases for down the road but for now I haven't had any issues 👍

    • @TheKPDX
      @TheKPDX 2 роки тому

      @@ConquestOverland The low height seems critical for so many reasons. Not a pickup guy but do they make similarly sized "low" toppers? Weather coverage in the PNW is so critical.

    Saw those kayaks down at Meydenbaur Bay - fascinating design. I do wonder how long those folds will last before springing a leak from fatigue. It doesn't take up anymore room than my inflatable kayak & the folding design is much easier to pack & transport. No comparison to my thermoplastic boats either. I think it makes a great addition. Did you pilot the drone while sitting in the middle of the lake in the kayak?

    • @ConquestOverland
      @ConquestOverland  2 роки тому +1

      I'm really liking this kayak so far! Lightweight, packs down easy, and setup is a breeze. Works well for my needs and particular use. I did pilot the drone while on the water, definitely wouldn't recommend as the battery levels are the big variable and would have you finding the shore quickly which make things interesting... 😉
