We've taken our most popular pack and kicked it up to the next level! We've now got the correct gear that Eddie used in the studio and spent a TON of time making sure they sound as close as we could possibly get. These profiles capture Eddie's "Brown Sound" heard on the early Van Halen records, from Van Halen I up to 1984. The Kemper Phaser, Flanger and Tape Delay do an admirable job recreating the old analog effects used in Eddie's rig and are included in the profiles as appropriate for each album. Liquid profiles are also included. I'm extremely proud of this pack, and I think you'll love it.
Great Job ! Great Tones ! Van Halen is back, amazing. So close to the Record
Not to sound like a sentimental fool here but hearing Eddie's classic tone replicated so perfectly brought tears to my eyes. Well done!
Any upgrade discount for buyers of the previous Brown Sound pack?
Apparently not 😢
Hands down the best VH tones for Kemper, anywhere. I use these every single day. Stoked for this update!
It's not just the time and gear TopJimi puts into these packs, it's also Jim's ears. You can tell he's listened critically to EVH endlessly throughout the decades and the result is the incredible tone heard here. This sounds phenomenal! 🤯
dear jimi! thank you, again. iam buy this pack. great. but say me please, what deference 1 and 2 numbers?
@user-kq8ru9qf6f Hi. 2.0 now uses the right gear and EQ for each album, much closer than the old version.
Do you have any video for the new 2.1 ?@@TopJimiStudios
Didn't think the first pack could get any better but here we are! Even MORE accurate EVH tones with liquid profiles as a bonus? Count me in. I'd also be very interested in any high gain tones you re-release as liquid profiles in the future.
Wowww!! That's really amazing! It sounds killer, you're the best!!
Awesome!! Thanks Jimi, will definitely be purchasing this pack 👍🏼
Sounds amazing man. Great video.
I bought the original back when you first made it and I still go back to it even with the thousands of profiles I’ve collected over the years. They were / are great. I’m look forward to trying these!
Just bought the pack… thanks for the update… Top Jimmy, he’s the king.
If you have a kemper and don’t have these profiles you are crazy.😊
TopJimi has the best VH profiles by far.
No one does proflies like Top Jimi. Fantastic work.
Great demo sounds beautiful 1978!
Good to see you back Brother That Charvel looks juicy
Sick sick sick tone. Great playing too
I’ve been longing for this!!!! Yey!!! 😍
The very first tone pack that I ever purchased for my KP was the Top Jimi VH profile pack...which is awesome in its own right. When Jim announced a few months ago that he was working on a complete redo with his newly acquired 68 Marshall, I knew that I needed to have it...and couldn't wait. I didn't waste a second to purchase this new profile pack when I received the email yesterday. You've outdone yourself, Jim...there's nothing else out there that comes as close to what you've put together. You've truly captured the early VH era genie in a bottle!
Excellent -- thank you!
This is awesome
Amazing
Awesome dude !!!!!!!
Thank you for doing the lords work!
Sounds nice. Thanks ✌🏻
I’m going to go ahead and say it…this sounds waaayyy better than the Tone X version…has that sizzle and bite that the Kemper delivers…but just cause I’m such a fan I’m picking up both :)
Never to late to learn about sounds!
Sounds terrific! Also, I have that same t-shirt!
I can say your profiles are the best with my guitars man
I love it i will buy it!
EXCELLENT.
My ears are drooling!! 🤘🏻🎸🤘🏻
Good grief that sounds great!
These sound killer!
This pack replaces the old Brown Sound pack. Includes Liquid Profiles. The old pack is still available as the "Brown-ish Sound" pack. The old pack makes a great compliment to this new pack as an alternate (but less accurate) take on the Brown Sound theme.
Great job, again. Are you planning to release plain amps with liquid profiling?
@rebluecrow Yes, I plan to “liquify” the old packs.
will you release YJM Pack liquid profiles?
Ok I’m sold. Sounds fantastic. The first pack didn’t really do it for me However this sounds Epic. Hopefully order this weekend cheers maestro
Would love a yngwie pack like this his tones through out the years would be so awesome
didn't think they could get any better, wow! any plans on doing an updated set for tonex?
Thank you. The Tonex pack is the equivalent to this pack. Just got that one done first.
I have to admit, that I prefer the old Top Jimi Brown Sound profiles a lot. Yes, the new ones are very accurate compared to the recorded sounds. And it's astonishing to experience how little gain Eddie used. But a guitar sound in a recorded mix is one thing and a live (or playing at home) guitar sound is another. I much prefer the fatter sounds from the Brown Sound 1 package. Playing with more sustain makes it also easier and is more fun (for me). If you want the 100% authentic sounds from the recordings, go for the new package 2.0. But the v1 package is the better compromise between authenticity and a useable sound for me. 🤷🏻♂️
I couldn’t even play the new one… it was way too bright
Yes! Sounds killer. Take my money :D
Excelent job👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 It is in your plans to profile Nuno Betencourt and the Marillion guitarist steve rothery? I'm a big fan of them. God bless you 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Killer!!
Jimi please please do the Hagar era 🤘 definitely going to buy this pack to replace the original one
Sweet! Do the Caswell amp next ;)
Man, I wish you would do the Van Hagar era tone. That's so damn hard to get
I second this!
Here here!
I wanna say you would need to use the slo-100. I have some profiles of the synergy module. Maybe ill upload one to rig exchange.
Yes
You really are a tone chaser.
Fantastic Jimi! What pack would you use to get the Van Halen "OU812" album guitar tone? It's similar to his "5150" tone but I think better and a little bit crispier with a more open space in the sound. One of my favorites by Lord Edward. 😊 Perhaps a "5150/OU812" pack is forthcoming? 👊😉
Hi Top Jimi. Sounds great ! It says there are 12 Profiles. How many actual individual Liquid Profiles are included ? Are the Liquid Profiles Studio or Direct ? And were these Liquid Profiles done tapped-off from a real speaker connected to the Amp -or- using a Load Box ? Thanks, Alex
There are 12 liquid profiles without merged cab and 12 with. Everything is mic’d except for the direct signal in the merged profiles. No load box - just a loud cab.
You should offer a discount to those of us who purchased the first pack.
The 84 wow
New kemper owner here. Just wondering what people prefer; headphones, studio monitors, kemper cabinet? I had some Yamaha HS5s but wasn’t crazy about them. Someone recommended DT 770 pro headphones so I may try those. Currently just running the kemper through a little Yamaha THR10 on flat mode and it sounds pretty decent.
I got jimi’s slash pack and I dig it.
Any advice from kemper users would be very appreciated. Thanks! 🎸
Will you do them for kemper player (with fx limitation?) thanks
How many and which fx pedals are in the profile? Trying to figure out if I can make it work for my Player!
Please make the Tonex Paul Gilbert Marshall Lee Jackson, with many DI captures!
Curious. any attempt at SRV?
Hi TopJimmy, This video is excellent, it makes you want to buy the Kemper again (I had it a long time ago and I sold it) because the Brown Sound sounds so good, it's incredible, well, it's the real sound of VH, would it be possible to make the same profiles for ToneX from IK Multimedia, I have ToneX now and it would be really cool to have them for ToneX too, thanks in advance and again bravo for the Brown Sound as well as the guitar performance ;-)
We’ve already made it available for Tonex through their Tone Partners program.
Thank you, it's great, I'm going to buy these profiles for ToneX, thank you for the quick response and have a good day ;-)
@@TopJimiStudios
I guess I’m going to sell my TONEX and upgrade to a Kemper player so I can get your profiles. Love your Friedman pack too. Any chance you’ll ever get into the fractal audio universe?
Hi. To my knowledge Fractal doesn’t do profiling, so no.
best evh guy
Is the phaser included in the fx section ?
Yes, the effects are included for each album as appropriate
so if I buy a Kemper I can download this?
Have you tested your profiles with the new Kemper profiler player? I want to know if they sound the same or anything is lost.
Sound is the same but some profiles have more than two effects slots assigned. The player can only handle two effects, so not sure how it handles that.
Wow honestly at some points sounds better than the record. Captures the tone beautifully.
Do you plan on venturing to the quad cortex to make some captures?
I would but there’s no efficient way to sell through their mandated cloud environment.
Ok thank you hopefully they will make a marketplace. Your profiles are great
Are these compatible with the with the Profiler Player Pedal as well?
Yes, with the exception that the player only has two slots for effects, and some profiles include more than two effects
Do these work in Kemper Player, the new small one?
Yes, with the exception that the player only supports two effect slots. Some of the profiles have more than two effects included.
Sounds great. What's the compatibility with the new Kemper Player?
Sounds like the new player uses all Kemper profiles.
Yes, but with caveats. Only 2 pre and 2 post effects, no DLY/REV routing, no Fuzz, no Natural Reverb (replaced with Easy Revwrb), no Kemper Drive, no Morphing
“Runnin with the devil” at 6.66k subs… I see you 😎
🤘😂
@topjimi I've bought the pack and playing it through my 108 headfush frfr.
Can you inform us via which input/speakers you are playing through?
Any tips/advice which Kemper output sources for frfr speaker would yield best results in combi with your Packs?
Sorry, I only use studio monitors or headphones, so I can’t comment on frfr speaker models
@@TopJimiStudios thanks Jimi, which brand/type studio monitors , headphones are you using nowadays?
@robz1980 I like the Sennheiser HD600 as a neutral reference headphone. I currently have Focal Solo6 BE monitors, but I’m not sure I’m happy with them.
@@TopJimiStudioshello, I’m new to this technology but have played guitar 32 years. All this is overwhelming. If I have a powered Kemper, how can I get this sound your getting like just standing around in a garage playing? I have to have the studio monitors through something like a Focusrite (and the guitar connected to it as well)?
phil collen please... your profiles are stunning
Is this available for Tonex?
Yes, there is a pack available for Tonex
Find me another digital box on the market that nails these EVH tones like this...not going to happen.
@TopJimiStudios
Did you use a cab with 2 greenback 25’s and two JBL’s like he did for Vh1? If you didn’t, why didn’t you?
I’m convinced he didn’t use JBLs in the studio. They add all the wrong frequencies. You end up having to completely remove them to get the VH I tone. Blackjacks also sound a lot closer than Greenbacks, which add too much upper midrange.
Ahhh…
The internet is going to go crazy over your finding. You nailed the tone soo well that you debunked this rumor forever. My hat’s off to you sir, love and respect!
It’s become religion to so many people, I expect pushback for sure.
Are these available for anything besides the camper? Fractal or Tonex?
They are available for Tonex. Fractal doesn’t do profiling.
@@TopJimiStudios Are you porting all of your '78 brown sound type Kemper libraries over to ToneX? I just purchased one from Sweetwater and I'll have it Tuesday.
@thomasfokas Hi. They’re already available for Tonex. 🤘
As soon as my new debit card shows up in the mail…click!
will this pack be compatible with the new player?
It is, with the exception that the player can only load two of the effects.
@@TopJimiStudios will you be making profiles player specific in the future?
Just take my cash Jim.
😂
@@TopJimiStudios Had a Kemper for three years. Plowed through 3,000 different profiles (including some of your other packs). Still end up using your WACF and effects from the original Brown Sound pack all the time. Well done.
sounds great but i work on live gigs and kempers tend to disappear in the money time through the mix. they add compression and lacks warmth and mainly presence so ok for backing not for lead work.
my take on the brown sound : put a vintage mullard i63 at v1
You're using the wrong profiles... 🙂
@@TopJimiStudios i'm using a 2005 marshall 1974x loaded with 60's mullard tubes and the matching oversized extension cab so it's 2 heritage greenbacks. the amp has one volume knob one tone knob that's it no menus no updates no waste of time plug and play.
@@yaniv-nos-tubes i found the trick is to use active pups
Very dissapointing, I'm using the Kemper Stage with Kemper powered cab and the EVH Striped series Frankenstrat. The merged profiles sound very muffled and compressed, the studio profiles are very harsh. Lot of tweeking needed. Had the same eperience with the Hendrix profiles.
I like the Marshall tone much more......
the friedman ir x is the new kemper slayer designed by evh's personal tech not a fucking keyboard player ,with real tubes and great tones out of the box .sounds way better and more natural than any modeler could ever sound, can work with your favorite effects and with a power amp and speaker and has an effects loop .
5:19 does not sound like the original to my ears. For all recordings here I'd like more bottom end and a darker tone (especially for fair warning album).
That’s one of the great things about the Kemper. You can shape Eddie’s tone however you like.
It's your guitar
What a waste. My buddy bragged about his Kemper, some 1971 Plexi thing. So we put it next to a 1971 Plexi and it sounded like the computer shit that it is. Then we put it next to my 1969 SLP that was hit rodded by Marshall back in 1986 and the Kemper sounded even worse. Then he tried to make a model of the 69 and it was worse still. It you do not have the real deal your only playing pretend.
Sorry, but it doesn’t sound like you guys really know what you’re doing with the Kemper…
holy sh..! Not even 5 minutes elapsed from reading and buying this pack :-) ....well, I did purchase the first pack many many yars back so his reputation was already standing high ....
Any upgrade discount for buyers of the previous Brown Sound pack?
Seems like reasonable question.
Just bought the pack… thanks for the update… Top Jimmy, he’s the king.
