Goku wasn't disqualified because to the judge's knowledge it was a normal cloud. For all they knew that could have been an inherent ability of Goku's... being able to touch/stand on clouds, as such they chose to allow it once as a ''Our bad for not knowing his abilities, you are no longer allowed to use it however.'
Yeah and if they were to have tried they would have just gone straight through the cloud.
@@marc68521 ooh, I didn't think of that aspect. Granted, if one of the judges had been able to stand on Nimbus, they'd have probably been wondering if they had some dormant power to utilize clouds as well.
Yeah, even considering Goku was just a kid they wanted to just explained him not to use it after first violation since the rules of ring out are not very stringent.
I’m really enjoying seeing you watch this series for the first time and I hope you stick with it. Yeah it’s got some jokes and content that haven’t aged that well, but the characters, story and the appropriate humor make up for it. It’s a fun watch!
Giran was accused of cheating by the people he had beaten but he does have a sense of honor, he just has a lot more methods to fight with then a normal human. Next up is Krillin verses Jacky Chun and then Goku verses Nam can't wait to see the next bout.
Nam was such a good character, that it's a bit of a shame that he never played some sort of a part during DBZ or Super.
@@MC-zr6gc Launch, Nam, Eighter, Bora & Upa, Yajirobe, and even Tien all deserved more :-/
For real, it would have been so easy to have a Super filler episode where Goku meets Nam again instead of episodes like episode 30 where literally nothing happens the whole episode.
In the Japanese dub they don't even say that they talked about how he's won other tournaments Giran seems to get profiled in some places of the world
I forgot how hype it was when Goku’s tail grew back. It really is such an iconic part of his early design and I kind of wish they kept it in the series.
Keep in mind that almost every scene is lengthened, so it may seem it took a long time for him to destroy the gum, but it was actually fast in the original scene, in the manga.
They only did that in the anime to avoid catching up to the original manga. I think those very scenes are the main weakness of the DB/DBZ animes, that's why I love the manga so much.
It really does suck because one of the mangas biggest strengths was its pacing.
The number of stare downs with 4-6 different shots of both fighters / wind blowing at their feet or hair / sweat dripping down their forehead…
If the DBZ movies had better plots they’d outrank the DB / DBZ anime BY FAR, cuz the animation, fighting choregraphy, transformations, and pacing were all so much better.
Giran is actually a chill dude.
For the record, the entire rain out portion was anime exclusive. In the manga, Goku just took a nap between matches, nearly missed the start, then the fight went exactly as the second half of the episode

So many people question why Giran gave up and it is actually kind of logical. Giran was sure the Merry Go Round Gum was unbreakable. Even he himself could not break it (considering it comes from himself you would think he could) and seeing how Goku broke it he knew if Goku actually hit him at his full power it would lead to pain he was not ready for. Lol
Do it again and throw him off faster. Took 5 minutes to break the gum. Goku got plot protection, so it’s how it be.

Out of all the potential Z-Fighters/Dragon-Team members that were never fully realized I'd of added Giran to the crew. Dinosaurs existing alongside humanity is an integral part of Dragon Ball's setting and yet we don't have a dinosaur as part of the supporting cast. Seems like a waste to me.

If we didn’t have any prior knowledge of Goku how do you know that the cloud wasn’t part his power set. No one outside his friends knew about it
Goku vs Giren as the first Goku tournament match, then Goku vs Jiren at the end of the tournament of power. Not sure if that was intentional or not
Krillin could have done the same thing to those guys from Orin Temple.
Those guys are in no position to talk. They're just mad that Krillin beat them.

Spoiler alert: In a later filler episode you find out how strong the merry-go-round gum is and how strong Goku strong Goku had to be to break it that's why the monster beast quiet. Even though the action wasn't that good when yamcha try to hit the beast it hurt like hitting rock but before the tournament started we seen him breakthrough a large rock with his Wolf gang fist so the beast skin must be more durable than Rock more like steel and Goku was hitting him easily.
I think the reason it was postponed was because all the fans had already ran from the rain, no point in it continuing if no one was going to watch it.
The announcer really is GOATed. Did you know that in DragonBall FighterZ, the announcer is voiced by the guy who voices Cloud in TeamFourStar's FF7 Machinabridged? I love it when TFS and real DragonBall mixes, and vice versa. You ever gonna watch the rest of FF7 abridged?

Why are Krillin & Roshi freaking out? They don't know what Goku's tail means! Yamcha & the Pilaf Saga gang have every right to be concerned, but Krillin & Roshi have no idea the danger they're now in!
Try looking at the scene though those character's point of view. We viewers know that Goku has a tail and that became normal to us but for Krillin, normal humans do not have tails so seeing his friend suddenly having a tail out of nowhere, why wouldn't he be freaking out.
And for Roshi, he knew that Goku's tail was cut off so seeing his tail just popped out is just like seeing a person who've lost a limb for sometime and then suddenly seeing that limb grow back to normal. Normal humans do not grow their limbs or body parts so why wouldn't he be freaking out.
And to look at it even deeper, Roshi might just be playing his role as Jackie Chun. The character Jackie Chun has never met Goku before so he should have no knowledge of Goku's tail and Roshi was just acting surprised just to be in character.

Ok first off Giran was willing to kill people outside of the ring, secondly his ability to fly gave him an unfair advantage against Goku. And only he is able to ride the nimbus so it essentially is his natural way to fly at least at first, you only think it's cheating because Giran raised a fuss about it but notice how Goku never complained about the wings even though I'd argue he would have a good reason too. Giran outright stated he did'nt care about the rules until something inconvinced him.
1st he was protecting him self from an unsavory group 2nd he was born with wings that's like saying tall people are cheating in basketball
3rd anyone of pureheart can ride it
4th only in the translation he says that and he meant outside the ring it don't matter until it was pointed out that it does

In a compeition where everyone else is grounded someone being able to fly would be an unfair advantage, everyone has legs in basketball regardless of size, if someone suddenly revealed they have spring feet but no one else has that then yes that would be an unfair advantage for a basketball player. 3. That does'nt disprove what I said, my point is that Goku earned the right to use the Nimbus and as such it's a natural part of him and again it evened the playing field. Point being Goku won this fight fair and square and even honored the announcers one use only for Nimbus after this fight. But Giran was definetly a dirty fighter, the merry go round gum was fair the flying was not and he's also a whinner when things stopped going his way.

Using Nimbus isnt cheating. He didnt use it as a weapon, just as a thing to step on.

Giren technically won since Goku used an outside weapon / object ( Nimbus Cloud ) and should have been disqualified. But you can't have your main character losing their first match in a Shonen anime. i bet any other character would've been disqualified 🤣.
I'm surprised Giren just accepted the judges decision so quickly without refuting it.

Saiyan tails keep growing back until the Saiyan reaches a certain power level. I believe once they surpass the power of their Great Ape form.
They don't surpass the power of their Great Ape form. Great Ape is a power multiplier, like Kaioken or Super Saiyan.
Aside from the meta answer of Toriyama just didn't want them to regrow their tails anymore, I just assumed it was age based. Saiyans stop regrowing their tails after a certain age.
@@dripsoup6639 It's not age based. Toriyama just didn't want to draw the tails on the Saiyan characters anymore and simply just stop drawing them. Trunks, Goten and even Pan never actually have tails even though they're Saiyan. Toriyama has a reputation of being lazy. The reason Super Saiyan's have gold hair is because he didn't want to ink the character's hair black.
@@patrickwinter428 If you look closely, I said the meta answer is likely because Toriyama didn't want them to have tails anymore. The age thing was my personal head-canon that wasn't just "the Creator God of this universe has decreed there will now be no more tails." Vegeta was the only one we saw lose his tail as an adult, and he's the only one who never regrew it. And Trunks, Goten, and Pan not being born with a tail could be explained as a genetic thing, where they phenotypically express less Saiyan traits than Gohan did. Especially Pan, as she's only 1/4 Saiyan.
