Just wanted to say my father work for up for 25 yrs I have miss him but to see all you men doing what my father did make my day. Im 60 yrs old 5 yrs cancer free my father would surely smile to see all of you keeping the old alive. Dale Jacksonville Arkansas Good luck on your trip
May the Big Boy Journey back to Cheyenne be a Safe and Sound Journey! Thanks for sharing Big Boy here in Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties! Excited to witness the completion of the Big Boy Restoration!
***** No, he said it was "taken out of service." Meaning taken out of regular freight service so it could be lined up and used to haul Big Boy back. "Taken out of service" doesn't mean it was retired. They aren't going to start retiring SD70Ms when they are still running far older power, much of which has been rebuilt/remanufactured. Something that could easily be done with '70Ms.
Any of those 4014 going home Hi viz vests "up for grabs" ? What a fund raiser! Probably couldn't afford air freight "across the pond" though.....................

The choice of the diesel locomotives just goes to show the class of the steam crew and Ed. Nicely done and safe travels!

I saw the 4018 move, and really wish I could see this too!
I did on the exact day that 150 year ago the transcontinental railroad was completed
Thank you
I am devastated that I will miss her in Ogden, due to work schedule, I hope some time to see it in Cheyenne!
Hey UP I heard 4014 will be in cheyenne on may 8 so I'm going to the steam shops. Hope to see it there!
As a boy I remember UP steam and the Big Boys in Wyo
You should've gotten some Navy surplus "coffin racks". These guys are living in a Hilton! LOL! Cool view of the dorm car.
I can't wait
I think when they say "taken outta service" they mean will not be in the service power pool because the steam program has them
I do hope you all let us know when you hit the wyo line. I would love to photograph the train in Green River,Wy!!!
Schedule is published on the UP Steam website. Looks like 4014 will be in Green River on May 6. BTW, the UP Steam website has GPS real time tracking.
I like the choice of the engine numbers for the movie. 4014 is pretty obvious but 4884 is equally coll
extra cool!
love it
This is cool. But now I wonder how much longer SD70M #4014 will get to keep that number. :D
it has been retired. one of it's last jobs is to move it's steam era brother
idk but ed said it himself in the video

Why do they call it a hospital train? I understand the need for a supply boxcar. But the hospital train escapes me
Hospital Train is for the Big Boy
