    You mention the legal aspect of SF and Gerstlauer, Cedar Fair and Intamin have a legal issue too. The Top Thrill accident has both listed as defendants. Intamin is trying to push everything on Cedar Fair, while Cedar Fair has documentation of getting approval for a revised maintenance schedule on TTD. Both will end up paying something, but the split and the blame game during the process could make the rift bigger.

    Dorney Park definitely won’t have it’s name changed. It is one of the oldest parks in America and too historical to the Northeast area. Also Six Flags Great Adventure is less than two hours away so it would make no sense to have two of them that close to each other.
    Also Cedar Fair had a 10 year plan for Dorney to bring it up to one of their tier 1 parks prior to the merger with Iron Menace being the start. They wouldn’t put a near 20 million dollar B&M project in if they planned on selling it.
    If they continue with this plan and offer a Dorney and Great Adventure combined pass they will be major competition for Hershey and can steal the market away from them. If they sold Dorney and a company like Seaworld acquired it to get space in that market area it would be trouble for them so it’s much better to keep Dorney.

      Hard sell. Cedar fair and six flags are in an vastly different market from disney and universal. Disney And Universal are known for their theming and premium experiences, whereas cedar fair and six flags are more traditional amusement parks.

    • @ItsSiebay

      Universal is expanding at a quicker pace, and Disney reigns supreme in the theme park industry simply for their IPs. Neither will see this merger as a problem when they’ve got parks in other countries around the world that people travel miles for, as opposed to these lower cost, regional parks.

    Cedar Fair if it actually has issues with RMC, it's for a reason. Look at the Raptors, SFFT had to do a major closer and track repair, as well as get new trains for a 5 year old coaster. CF is probably not happy that Railblazer might need the same to make it run well. Since CGA is closing in 2026/27 they might just tear it down and not relocate it. Steel Vengeance has major issues, besides the bump in the first month of ops. The continuous need for reinforcement was probably expected somewhat, but the issues with the ride control system, blocks, etc....is more of an issue that could cause a rift.

    • @Cat3465
      @Cat3465 8 місяців тому

      There is a chance of RailBlazer getting relocated if SF has interests of buying the attraction if it was up for sale and relocate it to one of the current parks. Over Georgia, New England, and St. Louis are some examples that can benefit having it in their lineup

      Wolverine Wildcat got GravityKraft retracking before 2023 season. The part with the wood retrack is running smooth. It actually feels like it's based on Phoenix now. They just need to do the other half and Wolverine Wildcat is golden for a few years.

    When you're talking about debt, there is a looming possible major expenditure(need for new financing) coming regarding the partnership parks of Over Georgia and Over Texas. The option to buy the remaining 47% of SFOT and 63% of SFOG comes in 2027 & 2028. The cost of buying these out would be around 525M.

    As a central Pennsylvania enthusiast I don’t think they would change dorney parks name. Often in that area know of great adventure and usually think it’s the only six flags park. That area already has a six flags park even if it’s in a different state. But they would be to close to call one six flags plus six flags already being established to the gp in that area. They are barely 2 hours apart not even as well. Plus dorney is old and has been an established name in that area for over 100 years

    • @AFCompany

      They would definitely not change Dorney’s name. It is one of the oldest amusement parks in America and too historical to the Northeast. Great Adventure is also too close. Cedar Fair also already had a 10 year plan in place for Dorney to bring it closer to one of their tier 1 parks with Iron Menace being the start and if they do that and have a Dorney and Great Adventure season pass they can offer two different park experiences and steal the market away from Hershey.

      Have to think Herschend would grudgingly take over the lease to block American Heartland. FC would do just fine playing second fiddle to SDC. The question is whether Herschend would demand Six Flags add a family coaster first. If that's the case, I could see them get Pandemonium from Fiesta Texas. They'd have to remove the go-karts and the back half of the Nightmare building, but it's feasible.

      THE EPR lease parks will get scant Capex and likely will be not renewed the leases or if not financially costly, early termination of the leases. CF management doesn't like leases. All of the EPR lease parks produce little & have low profit margins. This is from SF own comment on them, the lease parks have lower per caps than the all ready lower per caps than their peers of SF legacy parks.

    • @brianfoss571
      @brianfoss571 8 місяців тому +2

      They're both drowning in debt. This merger is the best way for them to restructure it. Beyond that, Cedar Fair needs Six Flags' broader OEM partnerships, IPs, and southern properties; Six Flags needs Cedar Fair's strategic discipline and focus on park operations, food, and merch. Doubling their park footprint will allow them to market dozens of unique 2-3 park pass combinations that other chains just can't offer. Cedar Fair's majority ownership will probably provide more positive outcomes than disasters. At least mid-low-tier parks won't be treated like glorified carnivals as JRA approached them.

    Dorney Park will not get sold. Dorney has a massive crowd, especially at the Water Park, all Summer and during Haunt. I think, for Dorney, it would be profitable for them to charge a separate charge for the Wild Water Kingdom for any pass under their Gold Tier. Same for all their events. (Grand Carnival and Haunt!) Now, a park like Six Flags America is in far larger danger in getting axed.

    • @kaleemarie13
      @kaleemarie13 8 місяців тому

      I honestly hope they don't do that.. It already hurts having to pay separate for Great Adventure and Hurricane Harbor and the reason my family and I still make the way to Dorney is because, as the slogan goes from back in the day: Two Great Parks for the Price of One!

    • @exinobelgonzalez2874
      @exinobelgonzalez2874 8 місяців тому +1

      Yes, i hope they do axe Six Flags America. That park still feels as though it is stuck in the premier park era. Of the parks they branded during the rebrand of the premier parks to six flags in 99 and 2000, this one feels the weakest, very incoherent midways and themeing (other six flags are guilty of this), and parts of the walkway to certain attractions feel as though they came out of the rollercoaster tycoon game.. If they do keep it, they are going to have to pump some capital into it. The park has tons of room and alot of potential that can be tapped into.

    • @yahuahisall4332
      @yahuahisall4332 7 місяців тому +1

      @@kaleemarie13 I see where your concerns are but, for example, I have both a Diamond Pass for Six Flags and a Gold Plus for Dorney and, the crowd that is drawn in at Dorney has gotten quite bad in the last 2 years. Especially at WWK. To increase profitability and give guest a more pleasant experience, this dual charge system for any Pass below Gold is ideal. I also hold a King Size Pass for Hershey and, although Hershey is pricey compared to Great Adventure and Dorney, the crowds aren't rude and unruly.

  • @redm91

    Since Cedar Fair likes resort parks, do you think they'll see potential with Darien Lake since it is a resort? I can see them buying Darien Lake from EPR or trading a couple of parks like Dorney Six Flags America for Darien Lake.

    • @brianfoss571
      @brianfoss571 8 місяців тому

      The problem is Darien Lake is about an hour *east* of Niagara Falls. So if you're driving up from the Midwest, it's definitely a bit out of the way, which makes it harder to market DL as a destination. The best thing Six Flags could do for DL is relocate a Batman clone into the open pit where all the water rides / slides were. Then they immediately close Mind Eraser and eventually build a Gravitykraft woodie or Wild Moose there.

    • @grobble8954
      @grobble8954 8 місяців тому

      DL is a lease park, they aren't putting major Capex in to it. Actually, just the opposite, CF management which will be running things will look to not renew the lease or terminate it early, if it's not cost prohibitive. DL is a low producing, low profit & low margin park. Also, the hotel there produces so little, it's not even mentioned in SF financial reports. All of the EPR lease parks will likely have the same fate, lease termination early or non renewal. FYI, DL is worth much less than Dorney or SFA.

      Dorney Park is very valuable to Cedar Fair and one of the most historical parks in North America. They wouldn’t have created a 10 year plan for it to bring it up to a tier 1 park and put a 20 million dollar B&M in it if they planned on selling it.

    I think this merger will see improvements to what La Ronde gets just by virtue of Six Flags being 4 years delinquent on the legally required minimum investment into the park and the new merged entity will not want to deal with that legal nightmare with creditors when one midlevel ride from Canada's Wonderland being moved would fix that and also free up space in their 3rd pillar park. Honestly this will probably help a lot of Six Flag's smaller parks because while it isn't ideal moving a ride or attraction is a hell of a lot cheaper then building a new one, and there's quite a few at Knott's, Magic Mountain, Wonderland and Cedar Point that would do more good being packed up and shipped to Michigan just to free up space.

      The two chains did have very different approaches to operations and additions. CF didn't care for a overall brand experience and the parks did have a more independent feel. While SF pushed the brand and licensed IPs hard, with a few parks getting some exceptions.
      I do hope they go more in the way CF was run and try to make each park feel more unique, and not add multiple clones all with the same theme. I actually would be interested if they keep the DC licenses as I don't think most people care if the ride is themed to superheros especially if they aren't in a themed area together.
      Like how SFGAd reverted Bizarro back to Medusa. And with them having Superman, Green Lantern, and The Joker not in the Movietown section possibly retheming those to match their areas better

      The fact that Cedar Fair picked an S&S FreeSpin for KD makes me optimistic they might add an Axis coaster to one of their legacy parks. Could be a great fit for Worlds of Fun or Valleyfair! So there's probably going to be some bleed-over between Six Flags' and Cedar Fair's preferred models. Won't be at all shocked if Fiesta Texas closes Pandemonium and adds an enclosed Zamperla Wild Mouse later. But will Cedar Fair regularly work with RMC and S&S? Maybe for 3 or 4 projects - doubt it'll be a trend, though.

      @@RonnieRLD Coaster enthusiasts don't seem to care about the DC theming, and most seem to actually despise it for some reason. However, if you talk with non-enthusiast guests, who are a huge majority of guests, the DC theming actually is quite popular and a big deal. People show up in partial costumes or capes, and they love that a superhero's name is slapped on a coaster, and it makes the ride more memorable and marketable. I think from a business standpoint, they need to keep the DC theming, and maybe do more of it.

    Buy or sell. To start decreasing debt, the merged company won’t target a small park to sell off, but rather one that has a lot of coasters that could be moved to new parks. Along with Great America, these rides will be the influx some of the lower tier parks will get. “New rides” for parks, not the cost of a new coaster.

    • @brianfoss571
      @brianfoss571 8 місяців тому

      The last time something like this happened was Cedar Fair closing Geauga Lake, preventing it from competing with Cedar Point. Doubt Dorney Park would close to reduce competition with Great Adventure - they fill different niches. In theory, Six Flags America could close, but it doesn't have many coasters worth relocating. Their Superman coaster probably wouldn't fit in any of the parks that don't have a hyper. Batwing, Joker's Jinx, Ragin' Cajun (itself a relo), and Great Chase could be re-installed elsewhere, but none of them are going to complete a park's lineup. Mind Eraser, Firebird, and Roar would almost certainly be scrapped. Wild One **might** be rebuilt at Great Adventure, but only because it's so historic. Ultimately, it's an inferior choice to Geauga Lake, because it was never intended to compete head-to-head with CP, Hershey, or Great Adventure. Parks with more ideal coasters to relocate include Discovery Kingdom and Over Texas, but I doubt Six Flags would pull out of the Bay Area entirely, and they're not closing their original park.

    I could see the company selling a park or two, but I don't think it would be any Cedar Fair branded parks like Dorney Park or Michigan's Adventure, nor do I see them selling any parks with the Six Flags name like Six Flags America or Darien Lake. With so many Hurricane Harbor waterparks, I'd think they'd sell a few of the ones they've most recently acquired like the ones in Concord, Houston, Phoenix, and Rockford. I could also see them selling the Schlitterbahn waterparks to their original owners. If they did have to sell any parks, I'd want them to sell La Ronde back to the city of Montreal and what them find someone who would be willing to put better operation and investment into it. I also think Herschend would be better suited to operating Frontier City and nearby Hurricane Harbor and Palace might be perfect to run the Great Escape and its lodge across the street.

      Also something to note, Fiesta Texas bought a new train for Iron Rattler from Gerstlauer, so there is some relationship. Same with Cedar Point buying a new Millennium Force train in (I think) 2022 or 2021.

    • @Spike-sk7ql
      @Spike-sk7ql 8 місяців тому

      @@TheSonicseanbuying a train for a coaster isn't the same as buying a coaster. New trains are sometimes a necessity. Cedar Fair really needs to get over their anti Intamin bs (if it TRULY exists as bad as it seems to). They'll never get the same top tier coasters out of another company. Even if Zamperla did hire some Intamin people, that does not make them Intamin 2.0. Intamin, and RMC are the companies building the standout coasters right now. Mack has a couple good models, but if you think Intamins are expensive, Macks are just as, if not more expensive.

    • @RonnieRLD
      @RonnieRLD 8 місяців тому

      @Spike-sk7ql with how many issues Cedar Point dealt with, and still currently does from Intamin, with the 2 major incidents of the log ride and Top Thrill, as well as the notorious downtime of Top Thrill, Millennium and Mavrick, I think it will be a while before CP works with them.
      But honestly Intamin hasn't really done anything that ground breaking in about 20 years. Everything they've done since then is slightly faster versions of their ride or copying other manufactures rides. We'll have to see what happens with Falcons Flight to see if that changes.
      I have gotten to ride two modern Intamin's, Darkoaster and Pantheon. Both are good rides but I don't think they bring anything to the table that other manufacturers don't do. Some of Pantheon's elements were heavily inspired by RMCs, and they appear to be very similar to the new Vekomas as well. And with SFGAd getting the new Super Boomerang, that could be the start of the chain working with them instead

    • @brianfoss571
      @brianfoss571 8 місяців тому +1

      @Spike-sk7ql Those are all good points, but even if Cedar Fair does repair their relationship with Intamin, which parks would actually get a large multi-launch coaster from them? As much as I'd love a version of Velocicoaster at King's Island, I can't see it happening. While Banshee is larger than Raptor, Orion is not larger than Millie. Cedar Fair probably won't give them anything that one-ups Maverick.
      Carowinds has a Mack-multi-launch, so they're covered. KD is getting a launched B&M wing to balance I-305's intensity - they don't urgently need anything from Intamin. I wouldn't be shocked if Knott's closes Xcelerator in 5 years for a Vekoma multi-launch. World's of Fun needs a launched coaster, but they won't get anything huge. Canada's Wonderland would be the chain's best hope for a massive Intamin multi-launch, but they're probably getting a launched B&M wing instead. Why wouldn't they?
      No, Cedar Fair probably decided that Zamperla could build a ground-up launched Lightning coaster that's good enough for Worlds of Fun. With Mack scuttling Montezooma, Cedar Fair's probably going to look at Zamperla's Double Heart as a replacement. And those spinning wild mice will likely show up in a few other parks. Hate to say it, but CF probably decided they can get more projects out of Zamperla than Intamin.

    I admire your optimism. But I think things may be a bit slow for a while. In the corporate world these kind of mergers (as opposed to large scale one sided acquisitions) usually happen because both companies are on shaking ground and are considering shedding assets and want to build a more stable base in order to survive the sell offs. It's very unlikely that this merger means more money for either chain but instead more desire to make cuts. Hopefully that's temporary but I think this merger means they're both in big trouble.
