- Booker T jams on Time is Tight in San Francisco May 2007. Listen to the extended climactic ending. Check out my other Booker T clips.
tears of utter joy.....
It will be played at my funeral
I inherited the vinyl of this from my dad, who was a huge fan. He even bought an organ so he could learn to play it just like Booker T.
Booker T. Jones: genius.
To this day I love that album from the movie " Uptight". Every song on the album was all that. Thank you Booker T.
Not forgetting the great Al Jackson!
Oh im listening on a phone. Hey it sounds good, thank you for posting and sharing![
I miss Time is tight 1970
Love Booker but this makes you realize and appreciate how essential Steve Cropper and Duck Dunn were.
Sure does ! But always knew that !
And dont forget Al Jackson on drums. The entire band was world-class!
Time is Tight was always one of my favorite jams. Man I would of loved to be there for this jam session!! I would of paid the concert fare. Booker T. was tight....The Man was a genius. Hip-Hug-her , Melting Pot, Green Onions, Hang em High, Groovin were just some of his all time hits..Thanks for the post. I loved it .
One of my all time favorites!
Too bad that Steve "The Colonel" Cropper and Donald "Duck" Dunn are missing. Great band. Loved them all! Rip Duck Dunn.
And Al Jackson Jr.!
Buy Booker T and the MG's boxed set, folks. It has the best live version of this ever recorded. This is NOTHING compared to what they did on the boxed set.
tomthefunky do you know the name of the boxed set?
Nancy Faughnan I think he’s referring to the version on the box set called, actually, Time is Tight (www.amazon.com/dp/B00000C2PD/). But don’t be misled... that version is a 10 minute jam from the early ‘90s with Anton Fig on drums in place of the by-then deceased Al Jackson. It has nothing of the super tight, sparse feel of the original. It’s kind of like saying the version of “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay” with Neil Young (!) on vocal that follows is better than the Otis Redding version...
The set is also available on Spotify if you want to stream it.
Bravo!!
Love booker t & mgs grew up on them.
They never miss a beat! Right up there with the best!!
Tengo 56 años y llevo escuchando este tema desde que tenía 10. Groovy
Love this song so smother listen every day
Play on, play on 👍👍👍
Gold..
Don’t you just .,, LOVE that sound and groove ? It makes me feel so good :)
since nearly fifty years my favorite title in my ears...
" The Good shit is the good shit, , No lumps on a dump. Pure natural process, Pull together when the time is tight. Tomorrow , will be, alright. God never lied to you when the truth is right.Shape up and do right. Bless you all. My friends
awesome love it one of my instrumental I used to play at school and still play today :-):-):-):-):-)
this warms my soul
That ending was the original ending. The shortened version was for radio play - only 2 minute radio plays in those days.
I saw him perform a couple months ago with the same guitarist. OMG best performance I've ever seen.
Great version. Timeless instrumental. Brilliant.
KEEP ON JAMING BRO. *****
Great video. Thanks a lot.
always worth listening to, very good, i like it!!
The drummer is great. Setting the groove.
Respect everyone or you prize will just fly away.
Respect Everyone.

Oh yeah! Nice!
jus so y'all know ... the fist bit is 'johnny I love you' from album 'Uptight' - which also has a great version of Time is Tight
Where is the bloke with the Telecaster, you know, whatsisname, Steve Cropper…
I'll have to play this again........I fell asleep after 6 minutes.
Do you know you talk in your sleep?
BadBad Bad to the Bone!!!!
kick ass
Hot!
way cool
The song ending as recorded was enough; didn't need th extended amendment.
stumbled across this and though, my that guy's well rehearsed, he plays it just like Booker-T himself. Then realised.
Veron Ice Black is the man!
Same bassline from Otis cant turn you loose,😎
Most definitely is "Time Is Tight"! That dude is right its not time is thight.
Or your true prize will fly away. Correcting my mistake on fools corruptions
Bring the Keys forward???? Too low after the intro. Oh well. Great Band!!!!
lead guitar player is playing 08 strings.. tinny and soft. Not a good choice to replace Steve Cropper.
+David Zimmerman For the un-initiated what are 08 strings and what do you think that he should have been using?
They are a light gauge set of strings on the Stratocaster he's playing, (myself I'd put nothing lighter than a set of 9's on a Strat but that's my preference) To try and get closer to Steve's sound I would use a Telecaster.
14rnr Thanks.
You are very welcome.
Someone needs to tune his guitar.
Miss Steve Cropper & Donald Dunn on this version.
