Truly the best Puriya Dhanashri available from Bhimsen ji. The vilambit lasts one hour, which is incredible. Tone perfect and hardly sounds like a live recording. Thank you Subarta ji for this priceless gem.

Contemporary classical singers have reduced Puriya Dhanashree to a puny raga by confining it to chota khayals. The great man shows us how to do justice to this beauty of a raga!

करामतुल्ला खांसाहेब यांच्या तबल्याबद्दल फार चर्चा झाली नाहीय. माझ्या अत्यंत आवडत्या आणि उजव्या, अव्वल, श्रेष्ठ तबलजींपैकी एक करामत साहेब आहेत.
मंद, मध्य ते दृत लयीत प्रवास करताना त्यांनी जो ठेका लावलाय. त्याचे वजन कमाल आहे. साधारण 53/54 मिनिटांनंतर लय बदलते तेव्हा तबल्याच्या बोलांचे वजन ऐकण्यासारखे आहे. कारण भीमसेन यांच्या बुलंद गायकीला बुलंद तबला वाटतो तो त्याच्या चाल करून येणाऱ्या बोलांमुळे.. ते बोल चाल करून येतायत असे वाटते. मधूनमधून तुकडे, समेवर येण्याची मस्त पद्धत, सुरांचे फ्रॅक्शन्स कमाल वाटतात.
दृत लयीत तर दोघांनी जो रंग आणलाय त्याने मी चकित झालो. सुब्रत साहेबांनी अपलोड केलेल्या हा पुरीया धनाश्री आधीही कैक वेळा ऐकलाय.
याच जोडीचा एक दरबारी आहे.1978 चा वगैरे. तोही कमाल आहे.

Arguably the best PD vocal ever. Sublime in character phenomenal in display of balanced technical virtuosity . Whoever recorded did an excellent job. Listening in a modest hifi Oberon 7 driven by Marantz 5014 through AirPlay sound was Cd like. SC had given us a treasure trove of live recitals of maestros. Another addition. Wherever he is now we music lovers thank u. We owe u a lot along with a few others.

Adarniya Pandit Bhimsenji Joshi
The great thing about his Payaliya Jhankar is that, he really pronounces the word "Jhhankar", other singers like Rashid Khan and Ajoy Chakraborty say (or it sounds like) "Jankar... mori", this shows his strong foundational basics of Kirana, where pronunciation is important.
That's why Bhimsen is Bhimsen and long live the Kirana Gharana.
This is incredible rendition of Khayal gayaki by late Pt. Bhimsen Joshi presented in systematic manner keeping the mood the raga in perfect harmony with flawless taans in drut gat . He was a real & genuine Bharat Ratna !
This is the exact same rendition as the one in Siddhi Album of Panditji. It's slowed down and consequently the pitch is lowered down too. Although it is interesting that the change in speed gives a slightly different perspective to the same rendition.

From the first note it is technically and emotionally perfect. One the best pieces of Panditji.
I share your sentiment for this track. I think this one Puriya Dhanashri proved to be a turning point in my musical journey. On a more technical note, I know that this is the same rendition as that on the Siddhi series which is surprisingly shorter and hence faster in rendition. Do you think that your version is the actual concert recording of it in the laya rendered by Bhimanna?
Late Mr. Vaidu Sanyal made the recording. I made a copy from the original. I did not find any change or distortion in Joshiji’s voice or Tabla sound. My good guess is that there is no noticeable change in speed of the recording.
We are all such a fortunate people living in an AGE where technology. That could capture such divine renditions of our. Music as this Great and Brilliant has left for us and the Generations to come !!..Bhimanna !!.. it's now the divinities that have your music in their midst !!.. Lucky them !!..

Bhimsen ji is a godly musician whose rendition can really make the audience swim in the sea of tranquility. However tabla accompaninent is not done by the godly tabla player Ustad Keramatullah Khan sahib, who possessed a unique style that resembled his name. The accompaniment in this recording is that of famed tabla player Mahapurush Misra,
Such an effortless elegance and peerless passion! I find myself lucky I can appreciate the beauty of it.
I think in tabla was not accompanied , by Ustad Keramatullah khan sahab , Khan Sahab 's playing style was totally different .

Puriya is definitely one the favourites of Pt ji, but this is raga puriya dhanashree not puriya. These are 2 different ragas
