    Oh wow. Stumble upon your video today for the first time. Saw you build the window the western way i wish there was a builder in Thailand doing it as well. I think western house would make inside the house a lot cooler than a typical call concrete or brick walls used here.

    House plot looks amazing from the drone shot. I love how you do everything yourself. I'm not sure about the vent pipe on top of the septic tanks though 555. Is there any chance you can create a few more regular videos too? I would also like to see a more in depth install on your PV system, and where you got the materials from and wiring it etc.. 👍

    • @Living-off-grid
      @Living-off-grid  11 місяців тому +1

      Hi.
      Making a more "in debt" video of the PV install is difficult as it is already installed.
      Same as wiring.
      Or did I misunderstand your request?
      The PV materials all came from Lazada and the wires from the local hardware shop.
      I am planning on making a video about "what works and what does not" in the next couple of weeks.

    Thanks for sharing you house build. Did you make the drawings for the house your self? Will you share wich software. Can you recommend?

    • @Living-off-grid
      @Living-off-grid  Рік тому +1

      Jan, I made the drawings on "chief architect" (for Mac).
      It is pretty easy to use and warns about conflicting designs.
      But... the biggest problem is having your Thai workers actually follow the plans. You need to be there all the time and check everything. And even then, for sure you miss something, so you need to be able to improvise to fix things that can't be re-done easily.

    Thanks for the update. I was wondering if you had moved in. Great tip on seeking tools from temples..I guess they are purxhased/donated at the time of temple build and you make a donation for their use?
    How is the lazada solar system performing? Have you run the air-conditioning yet?

    • @Living-off-grid
      @Living-off-grid  Рік тому

      Hi Dan.
      The Lazada solar system is doing well.
      We run airconditioners quit a lot as we are still waiting for the mosquito-screens.
      I don't think we could run two aircons the entire night. That might be a bit too much to ask.
      One downside I discovered is that the charging system is not really lithium optimised. It only charges the battery for 80% because you can not set the "100% charged voltage".
      I have looked for an alternative, but even the more expensive inverters have very limited lithium support.
      It is strange that the country with the biggest lithium-battery industry still thinks everyone uses lead-acid batteries. 🙄🤔

      @@Living-off-grid haha..for years I could only find huge car battery chargers on sack trolleys and never a small trickle unit. Lazada changed all that thank goodness. Thanks for the reply and your learnings. Very good information on this system.

    i stumbled across your channel, and I am very impressed. Unfortunately some of your workforce have not been the best, but this is normal here. What province are you located? Will you be sharing the prices that you for the land, and for the build? I would be very interested to do something similar..........

    • @Living-off-grid
      @Living-off-grid  Рік тому

      Hi Nick,
      We are in Nakhon Phanom province (Isaan or North East).
      We bought the land, about 12 rai, for 1M baht.
      The price of the build is hard to pin down as I would then have to break down each bit (water-tower, flood-management, solar-power, landscaping and the various stages of the build)
      Where will you build your little piece of paradise ?

    Do you think AAC blocks are worth it if you are planning in building a house

    • @Living-off-grid
      @Living-off-grid  Рік тому +2

      Absolutely.
      First of all, they are bigger and easier to work with, so you save money on labor and you save on time.
      Secondly, they have much, much better insulation properties than grey-blocks or bricks, so later you save on airco-bills and living is simply more comfortable.

      If you insist on writing a nasty comment, then at least get your facts right.
      The design is called "Cape Cod" and it originated in the 1950's in the USA.
      It was lightly based on the "Dutch colonial" style.
      And, while we are at the subject: Why is it ridiculous ?
      Most modern Thai houses are based on older European designs... or do you prefer a wooden shack on poles?
