Weird to think that not only mars but also Venus was like earth back then. We keep looking for earth like planets, but they used to be right beside us.
It makes me wish that Venus and Mars had remained Earth-like. That way, there'd be advanced life on them and even intelligent aliens living on the two planets which would motivate Humanity to put more money and resources into space exploration.
It would motivate human kind to build more nukes and remove both threats...

There aren't very many about this time period. Many people either make videos about really early earth history (4.5 billion years ) or relatively recent (100 million to present) I'm writing a book which deals with this exact time period.

Me thinks not laddie. Aye, indeed Mars would have harbored life 2 to 4 billion years ago and is now a dead world man. And Venus? Me thinks the planet may have had a chance to start life, but cuz of the chaotic nature of our solar system back then lad, it never came to be. When our sun will be startin to grow into a red giant in another 10 billion years or so, the outer planets may have a crack at life because the first 4 planets from the sun will be incinerated, swallowed up whole if you will, and the outer gas giants may begin to warm up and become like what the rocky worlds of today are lad. I think it's because you know it's like the lull before the storm. Like something big is about to happen...
2 billion years ago was in the middle of Paleoproterozoica Era. It was also during the greatest mass die-off that took place on Earth with up to 99.5 percent of life disappearing. The oceans were green colored at the start of the Paleoproterozoica Era (2.5 billion years ago) with dissolved iron. As the cyanobacteria produced oxygen, the dissolved iron for hundreds of millions of years, turned the oceans orange as the iron combined with oxygen that precipitated out of the water and sank to the bottom of the seas. The dissolved oxygen levels in the ocean (and atmosphere) started to climb as available dissolved iron were oxidized during this Great Oxidation Event (GOE). The Huronian glaciation (or Makganyene glaciation) was a glaciation that extended from 2.4 billion years ago (Gya) to 2.1 Gya, during the Siderian and Rhyacian periods of the Paleoproterozoic era. The Huronian glaciation followed the Great Oxygenation Event (GOE), a time when increased atmospheric oxygen decreased atmospheric methane. The oxygen combined with the methane to form carbon dioxide and water, which do not retain heat as well as methane does. The glaciation which covered virtually the entire planet, led to a mass extinction on Earth. Any discussion of 2 billion years ago probably should include these key points.
The top of Mt. Everest has exactly the same percentage of oxygen as sea level. The issue is partial pressure.

Uneventful is probably not how the majority of bacteria which were all anaerobic at the time would describe that period, not with the new critter on the block the cyanobacteria quite literally excreting poison (Oxygen) en mass. It's thought that a significant minority perhaps even a majority of bacterial species went extinct as a result of them, in turn they also laid the groundwork for much more complex organisms that wouldn't have been possible without the significantly improved energy availability offered by aerobic respiration so yeah that's not really uneventful even if it might look very calm to our big eyes that can't see the small things that are revolutionising the planet.

@@darth856 you forget, a closer moon increases gravitational pull exponentially. A 15 hour orbit with an increased gravitational pull would not only be creating massive tidal shifts, but also a major increase in friction and techtonic shifting under the Earth's crust. Shorelines would be different, underwater chasims being created and destroyed rapidly. These would be turbulent waters. This disrupts cyanobacteria bloom, and that doesn't even take into account the UV sterilization that would occur because there 2:00 wasn't enough ozone to protect from the harmful rays. In current conditions, with our current O2 and O3 levels that protect us, UV rays can still penetrate up to 200 meters, (about 656 feet) into water. Without our ozone and oxygen levels slowing and absorbing these rays, they could easily penetrate much deeper, thus causing a more sterile environment in conditions that would have been turbulent enough to ensure they all receive plenty of radiation. 3:42 [cyanobacteria] "were in every corner that has water, and they were throughout the whole ocean" because 3:15 "the waters would be peaceful for tens of thousands of kilometers". 10,000 km is approx 6,213.7 miles. That's ¼ of Earth's diameter. Tens, plural, would indicate more than one unit of 10,000 km, or more than half the earth. This is impossible with a moon, 2:44 "gigantic" because it's "many times closer" and in orbit every 1:06 15 hrs.

Good concept for a topic - it covers geology, biology, paleontology, chemistry, and cosmology. and you included a lot of good details... not mentioned is the closer moon would have induced violent tides (a few miles high) (and with constant earthquakes and eruptions from the stresses) (and the tides would been composed of hot magma 4.5 billion years ago - if you wanted to see that spectacle).
