Just think how much more sane the world would be if everyone just sat around and just took this "stuff" in on a regular basis. We need more jazz clubs!! 🎷🎷🎷🎷
Scott with his best band. John Bunch on piano .Chris Flory on Guitar. Phil Flanagan on drums. Chuck Riggs on drums . This was recorded in June 1983 in Tokyo at Yamaha Hall.
Look at how got damned connected he is to that horn. This is god in your face. Not that Scott or another human is God, but that God flows through humans like this is amazing.
the scooped notes and vibrato are okay, they just come from or refer to an earlier age of jazz playing as anyone who knows and loves the tradition as a whole knows and recognizes. There's more to jazz then the latest and greatest of today...
My current favorite Tenor player. And it's NOT because we have the same birthday (August 24, 1954). I play Tenor, too. But nowhere as nicely as Scott.....

One of the best sax player ever, but this must be at least 20 years ago!
John Bunch kills me in this. Pure magic.
A gorgeous version of this....Scott more than holds his own...

It was about this time 'round 1981 that I was going to the Keystone Korner in Frisco to listen to guys like Scott Hamilton.

Timeless music. Amazing sound.
Thanks for this post
Scott Hamilton is the most
Such a prolific player, and with such feeling.
It's a Selmer Super Balanced Action. The model that preceded the Mark VI. I saw him at the Portland Jazz Festival last week. Still playing that SBA.
Wonderful. Marvelous thanks for the post
This is the classic S.H. quintet: John Bunch on piano, Phil Flanigan on bass, Christ Flory on guitar, Chuck Riggs on drums. Maybe early 80s?
Excelente !! A música jazz no seu melhor.
Ahhhh, early Scott Hamilton. It doesn't get much better than this.
great song for the holidays
Yes music from the heart.
Fine and smooth
Good sound
Love it
Thanks
I subscribed pronto
GREAT MAN!!!!!

It's like an excellent tomato sauce you could have with the best pasta, smooth with an extra something, followed by a sip of good wine (red/Italian)
Very impressive!

I´m a fan
My current favorite Tenor player. And it's NOT because we have the same birthday (August 24, 1954). I play Tenor, too. But nowhere as nicely as Scott.....
Skylark other nice ballads for YOU!!!!!!!!!!
Music like this never dates.
Ari-ga-to. good player
Scott Hamilton's sound comes from the heart, not the horn.
Does anybody know where i can find a transcription of this?
i don't see the Selmer "S" on the neck, so which brand of tenor is that?
John Bunch is so wonderful. Does anyone know where he is?
Wow I never knew president Assad played tenor?? 😊

@Vapor419 put down the vodka man.......
Scooped way too many notes, puffs out cheeks, and overuses vibrato...what's so special here?
BallslessFusionTripe - That tone bro?? Can't you hear that
because that is emotional my man.
