I would LOVE to chat with you guys and talk amazing gaming nostalgia, lore and fun experiences. I'm a hardcore retro game collector and know the medium so well and love it! From naming every Robot Master in every MM game including Time Oil Punk and Quint to owning every controller from Power Pads to The Virtual Boy! Hope to get in on a vid sometime soon if you'll have me!! Great vid and love you guys are listening to the fans, hell yeah!!!👍👍💯
1987-1988 is exactly when I would go back. In 1987 our computer at home had Police Quest, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, but we also spent quite a lot of time at the 2 local bowling alleys. In one particular bowling alley, and where I spent most quarters I got from mom, were in Black Tiger and Commando arcade games. I also loved playing pool, and pinball, and other games like Karate Champ and Gyruss. March of 1988 was when I got my NES. That was a great time period for me.
Interesting to come back to this video now and hear Rob say that Resident Evil is done as a series. I strongly agreed with Rob at the time. RE was such a disappointment for so long. Thankfully RE7 and the RE2 remake have breathed new life into the series again. We have our great RE series back! Lets hope Capcom continue the trend...
An absolute turn around by Capcom on all fronts. Resident Evil 7/2, Monster Hunter World, Devil May Cry 5, Mega Man 11, Street Fighter V Arcade Edition, etc
Johnny your youtube channel is my absolute favourite! Your videos are so genuine and entertaining! Hopefully soon in the future you will go worldwide so everyone can see your awesomeness! :)
Thanks for this guys as I am a new sub.. within a short time this gave me more a window into who you guys are. You guys rock and glad to have subscribed.
Man this made me feel UA-cam old, I went to the live stream I you guys did 5 years ago. Awesome super soaker story, would love to see Hanzo draw rob like the bad ass you described him to be
I HAD THAT SQUIRTGUN! God damn you guys are such bros. It's awesome to see a friendship that has lasted this long. This is such a fun video to listen to. I probably would have preferred it in smaller chunks, but this is great.
thanks for all your videos they got me back into games and I have learned about turbo graphics and dragon Quest games from you. I have always been a final fantasy guy. your videos give me joy and make my days better. thanks for sharing your life with me. also love the videos with you and kim. me and my wife have the same relationship and are soul mates. thanks again Richard foster II.
That water gun prank would end in tragedy these days, cause all the kids are carrying expensive phones around, which do not agree with water very much. Back then it was a simpler life.
Interesting to watch this again now, with the idea that Capcom really were in free fall for such a long while there, and have thankfully returned to form recently.
By far and away my favorite game channel. That to me says a lot considering the majority of the games you guys are passionate about, I tend not to like. It's the way you two talk about it that makes this shit classic for me. Plus Canada. Nuff said
I'm for amazon and ebay shopping for video games, but does anyone here know that awesome feeling when you actually go to a retro video game store and you go through all the games and you find one gem out of all the others? And then you buy it and to me it's just the best feeling ever: hunting for games in "the wild". I don't know why, I guess it's just so unexpected what you'll find. It's especially awesome when you find a game you've never even heard of. I mean sure online you know what you want to buy. but in a retro video game store, you have no clue what's there and you have to take time and search. It's just the best feeling to me.
Jst wanna say that i love thid channel! Like when i come from work or before i game, i watch this episode. Johnny when are you and Rob gonna share more crazy stories! I think their fun and crazy :D
You gotta make more Q&A's! Their fun their enjoyable and very funny (still laughing at those bad memories you guys had.) Also can't wait till you guys get to 100,000 your very close! I think I started watching around 40,00 maybe..Idk Love your stuff! Keep making it also you guys show what true friendship is, no matter how frustrating life can be no matter how much you fight you will always be there sitting down drinking and playing games and that is a big reason why i love happy console gamer.
RE series went from dark survival horror with zombies to scifi parasitic monsters with guns blah blah blah...same with final fantasy, thank god for Bravely Default!!!I am looking forward to Bravely Second
Robman, I don't think I've ever heard anyone else talk about the game Evolution. I played it on Dreamcast and recently got the gamecube version. It hasn't aged well, but it's still fun. Glad someone else remembers that game~
Skies of arcadia. Great call there lad! Should have given an honourable mention to the never made shenmue 3. Also, Wakefield! West Yorkshire region, less then 30 mins from me. All about Leeds though
Well that was funny! Btw i do agree,Skies of Arcadia oughta make a comeback...but i dunno if it's gonna happen.Oh and i totally loved the water prank story! That was amazing and hilarious! lol
I'm the same as Johnny, I like shooters, but the overabundance of them has made them my least-liked genre. COD is a fun game, there is nothing wrong with it technically, the controls are amazing, the gameplay is fast and fun, but as John said, its just taken over the market. Furthermore, we've seen old-favourite-IP's destroy themselves by trying to be like COD- looking at you Resident Evil. Around 2010, I cut back on the shooters, since then, I've only purchased shooters that seem to have a little more to them, such as Dues Ex and Bioshock, I think its really the 'military Michael Bay shooter' that I have a problem with. Even during the PS2 generation, I was sick to death of WW2 shooters, then Modern Warfare released, it was cool for one game, but then everything started copying it, almost as if it had a monopoly over the minds of game creators worldwide. And I'm a diverse gamer, I literally play every genre in existence minus sports games(such as Fifa) and there's really not much that I don't like, I just love games in general, but this military shooter BS has gone too far and its not good for a guy like me who values variety. Don't get me wrong though, there is tons of variety in gaming right now, but there are long streches of time/certain periods where they'll be nothing but shooters releasing for months, which can be annoying when I want to play something new.
Has anyone younger here had that experience where you move from a modern console to a retro console for the first time? I remember when I was about 4, my sister had an n64. She took it back when she moved out and I hadn't seen or played an n64 in about 10 years. At this point, I had my Gamecube, since I was about 6. So I finally found out about this game store that sells retro games and I bought a used n64 and Super Mario 64. My sister never had Super Mario 64 and I hardly knew anything about it at the time. I just remember coming home and hooking up my n64 and popping Super Mario 64 and it was like I was transferred to another time. I just remember thinking "Wow. I missed out on a lot,,," I played for hours and I remember inviting friends over to experience this awesome game that a lot of them missed out on. And then I got my Retro Duo Portable and some NES games. I remember popping in Super Mario Bros and thinking "I wish I was around when this was out". I just find it kind of interesting about young people my age who went from modern console to retro console for the first time. Usually it's the other way around, with older gamers going from Super Nintendo to N64. How about the people who went from N64 to Super Nintendo for the first time? Or they went from Gamecube to N64 for the first time?
24:29 does anyone remember when the Resident Evil series had gotten so bad that Rob wanted to see it end? Sad times, unfocused garbage in the RE world. Capcom did exactly what they needed to about-face the RE series.
You guys are like a friend of mine and me. We've been playing video games since Atari 2600 and collected a lot of anime in the 90's when you had to choose either dubbed or subbed on VHS.
Yeah 87 to 88 was great times, I'd go back to then too. I just got into D&D as well and I was playing my NES so much my homework got neglected. So many hours into Zelda & Metroid. The world was just such a simpler place, I miss it
+HappyConsoleGamer i know dewsbury road bud im from outwood more towards leeds if u know leeds ? fantastic .i was amazed i watched u years but never seen that video saying that lol .do u know leeds ?
You guys remind me of the guys I grew up with and gammed with. Great posts. BTW tried to join the group of you guys on facebook, and was talked to real bad in a PM by some Nazi. I am no longer in the group, but you guys really need to talk to the folks you got running that thing.
Holy shit. The first musician out of Rob's mouth, Weird Al, is my favorite, and the only concert I've ever been too. Then Johnny comes along, and holy shit again, Red Hot Chili Peppers. I also heard the Offspring in there as well. I'm more than a little biased here, but excellent choice in music guys.
I have to say, yes. The Offspring and The Red Hot Chili Peppers are both amazing. I have to say though. I once saw The Foo Fighters open for The Chili Peppers, and they blew the Chili Peppers out of the water.
Matthew Woodrum The Foo Fighters are pretty awesome too. I couldn't think of any of their songs off the top of my head, so I searched on here. Apparently I've been singing along to plenty of their songs without knowing it was them for years.
To bad no return for you on the agg podcast hcg.Oh well,it was fun while it lasted since you stated you had you're run and that's it.I hope at least you are on as a guest once in awhile.
that was one of the funniest things i've heard someone say in a while 35:30-35.45 "yea im on my honeymoon, you shoulda said something, fuck. hey if you ever see us anywhere, fuckin come up to us" lol
Rob, have you played the Game Boy Advance and DS Castlevania games? Circle of the Moon, Dawn of Sorrow, Order of Ecclesia, etc. (there are three for GBA and three for DS). They are all Metroidvania-style games and very much successors to Symphony of the Night. Sadly, the last one we got was Order of Ecclesia, which came out in 2008, so it's still a series sorely in need of a new entry. I love how quickly you answered Skies of Arcadia, Johnny haha It's my favorite RPG. And I never knew you moved to Canada from England!
Resident Evil needs to have a break for a couple years and then needs to be "re-booted". Bring it back to its horror survival roots and bring back that tense and scary atmosphere.
I think that water gun that Rob got you guys with was Aqua Force haha, unless there are more of the same type of water gun from that time. If you look up "aqua force water gun" in Google Images, it's the first pic. And about the Symphony of the Night 2 thing, have you played the DS Dawn of Sorrow? I know there were other's similar to it too on the DS but it plays like SotN and is pretty awesome. I'm assuming you've played it but surprised you didn't mention that in regards to this.
On your Resident Evil bit - I really had fun with RE5 with co-op. It was fantastic! When I tried to play it single player I hated it. Having to micro-manage Sheva in real time wasn't very fun. I bought RE6 on Steam when it was on sale and I enjoyed Leon's campaign a lot. As for the others I had fun playing them, only to see what kind of Michael Bay moment they could throw at me next, but it sure wasn't a Resident Evil game at that point xD
Hey, John, Rob, what games have you always wanted to play, but never played once in your lives? The games I always wanted to play, but never have are the Xenosaga series, the YS series (you got me to want to play them), Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment, and Tales of Symphonia.
Gaming in the future... I just want a horror game or an open-world game in a VR room. After to touch and feel the environment, control it the way you want to, ACTUALLY HAVE TO RUN from whatever's chasing you. I guess I just want games to blur the line between gaming and reality. Granted, yes, that's probably not the best idea and probably mentally dangerous, but it'd be cool just to see if it can be done.
I'm not sure if I agree with you about the end of physical releases, the majority of people I know of still choose to buy a physical copy. Not to mention, if it becomes possible to just download all games, having a physical copy would be considered cool. An example would be vinyl records, they're no longer need and are technologically weaker, but here in the UK over a million have been sold this year, and there's an entire weekly vinyl chart now, I reckon the same thing will happen to physical copies, they wont be as popular as before, but would still viable and and have a big enough market for developers to release to :)
I'm with you there. I prefer physical copies of games as well. If there's a game I want to buy on PSN, it's like 40 or $50. Why would spend that much on a game that takes up a lot of free space and hours to download when I can go to Gamestop and get a pre-owned copy for less than half that?
Johnny have you seen No Man's Sky yet? You know how you and Rob Man have been showing so much passion about Destiny? Well when I saw that No Man's Sky Trailer I was like "Holy Crap..." As a huge fan of science fiction and the mysteries of deep space exploration, I said out-loud "Oh man...They've made my dream game". So do you have any thoughts about it? I haven't heard you mention anything about it yet.
if you still haven't played 3rd birthday, it isn't as bad as the reviews make it out to be. it is very confusing up until the end, when you get a sudden "OHHHHH" moment and it ties it all together
I really hope games don't go full VR I had a childhood friend. Who I believe introduced me to Zelda, he was crippled and had only partial control of his arms playing games was what he truly loved. But as time goes on and things get more advanced I think about him and how difficult it would be for some one who is paralyzed to use the newest tech.
I really love gaming and most of my friends play games like cod, battlefield, halo and pretty much multiplayer shooters. I love rpgs the best still play all other games, but the point i wanted to make is i wish i had a friendship like you guys have where i could talk about all things games and tech and i really love classic games. I live in a town that has a population of about 1000 and theres not to many people who love games like me. And most of my friends have 360's 2 has ps3's and one has a xbox one. Nobody has a gaming pc which i love my pc which i play a lot, and i have all consoles and handhelds. Been trying to go back and buy all the old consoles i don't have off eBay building a man cave with a mini console museum in my basement. Having a hard time getting a pippin for a decent price.
The Revenge of Rob has to be the sickest Rob moment I've heard yet lol.
I agree about the time before internet.. I miss those days of gaming and hanging out with friends. It was a different world.
Been watching alot of these older episodes, love em
Love the classics my friend. Johnny your laugh is infectious!
Still love watching these old videos. Johnny and Rob are the dynamic duo
I would LOVE to chat with you guys and talk amazing gaming nostalgia, lore and fun experiences. I'm a hardcore retro game collector and know the medium so well and love it! I can’t believe you’re a fellow Yorkshireman! Haha I’ve been watching your videos for ages and I would have never known. Love these old vids

LOL, that was the first thing I thought of too... we live in un-fun times in many ways. we all need to bring it back a bit. This channel does that!
This has now looped back around to being fine again cause most phones are waterproof now lol
I love listening to you two awesome people. Never give up the love for gaming.
Interesting to watch this again now, with the idea that Capcom really were in free fall for such a long while there, and have thankfully returned to form recently.

I just think that Johnny has a more recognizable look and that is why people recognize him.
Robman, I don't think I've ever heard anyone else talk about the game Evolution. I played it on Dreamcast and recently got the gamecube version. It hasn't aged well, but it's still fun. Glad someone else remembers that game~
Christian Hall i still play the dreamcast version its alot of fun
Right on. I wish I had my dreamcast still
i really like your videos. it reminds me soo much of my childhood how i rememberd my video game experiences.
36:21 TAPE?? TAPE? What year is it????
And btw, loved the video guys, good job. Please make more of these lengthy episodes.

Haha! Gorgeous was an awesome Jackie Chan movie! And I'm not surprised that Rob was into the whole swing scene. It seems to fit him.

You guys are like a friend of mine and me. We've been playing video games since Atari 2600 and collected a lot of anime in the 90's when you had to choose either dubbed or subbed on VHS.
You just described many VR games that are now out as your dream game
Johnny's thought process at 25:37 must have been like
"yeah I loved 4.....of course..... wait, right? don't I love it? ah who am I kidding"
I'd want to go back to 1992-1995, but 1997-99 would rank well up there too. I also agree that the pre-internet days were best.
You also got at least one fan in Denmark to. Love your show. HEART
Holy shit!!! Need clips of Rob swing dancing to old Brian Setzer and Cherry Poppin Daddies.
The fact that you are from England makes you even more of a legend
Yeah 87 to 88 was great times, I'd go back to then too. I just got into D&D as well and I was playing my NES so much my homework got neglected. So many hours into Zelda & Metroid. The world was just such a simpler place, I miss it

Johnny's ideal prank on Rob sounds like an episode of that TV show Scare Tactics.
Mario and WALL-E shirts, AND Star Wars and Doctor Who mugs?!? Now that is what I call geek cred!
Man i would love to meet these guys! They're so chill and cool=DDD
whatever happened to Robman? He hasn't appeared in an episode in a long time
You guys remind me of the guys I grew up with and gammed with. Great posts. BTW tried to join the group of you guys on facebook, and was talked to real bad in a PM by some Nazi. I am no longer in the group, but you guys really need to talk to the folks you got running that thing.
cool long episode.. props on the element of surprise Robman with the water gun!!
you guys are awesome ,reminds me of 1987 playing pro wrestling in the basement getting drunk .....and some mega man 2

Welp, You hit 100k subscribers; time for another Q&A episode!
Resident Evil needs to have a break for a couple years and then needs to be "re-booted". Bring it back to its horror survival roots and bring back that tense and scary atmosphere.
I had the same water gun Rob. The back-tank thing held 2 gallons of water. I soaked my friends with that thing too.
Yes!!! I love the Protomen, Rob. Act II is one of my favorite albums.
I love the Blazblue background music! My favorite game of all time.
42 minutes of johnny and rob ahead, fuck yes
Favorite anime line, the colonel in the original dub of Akira growling 19 times
Funny I actually remember that live stream. Great video guys. :D
I think that water gun that Rob got you guys with was Aqua Force haha, unless there are more of the same type of water gun from that time. If you look up "aqua force water gun" in Google Images, it's the first pic.

I know I'm 2 years late but I was bored and wanted to come back to this video. Will you please put that Star Wars video up? Pleasesssss.
Does anyone else think Rob Man looks like Ryback ? Great video btw. You guys need a podcast of your own every week.
Don't drink and drive Johnny!
You both are my favorite youtubers and i love you both because your so genuine and i wish we could hangout and do an all nighter of animes

Hey Johnny where are you answering your Q&As from, UA-cam or Facebook?
I'd love it if you guys would do a fan meetup at GameDeals or somewhere! :D
That statement about resident evil aged poorly 😁
Thought the same thing, just hold on a bit longer past Robman.
Have both of you guys played Shovel Knight yet? It is a masterpiece!
Rob likes the Dayglo Abortions awesome. I love that canadian Thrash Hardcore Punk Band!!
What was Rob Man's answer to the question about games that have eluded you? I watched that part a few times but he just says it too quietly
guys please do a video of your old home videos and films you made back in the day with commentary, think that would be a great episode

the 30th of may was my Birthday too!! haha I went straight to EBgames and played the whole afternoon!!
Bit Brigade performing Mega Man 2 at MAGFest X- THis is nice
Robman and I share the same birthday! How cool!
Man, these guys are great
Johnny have you seen No Man's Sky yet? You know how you and Rob Man have been showing so much passion about Destiny? Well when I saw that No Man's Sky Trailer I was like "Holy Crap..." As a huge fan of science fiction and the mysteries of deep space exploration, I said out-loud "Oh man...They've made my dream game". So do you have any thoughts about it? I haven't heard you mention anything about it yet.
Robman, Strider will be free on ps plus this coming July in North America! So you don't have to give capcom money after all!! Enjoy :)
if you still haven't played 3rd birthday, it isn't as bad as the reviews make it out to be. it is very confusing up until the end, when you get a sudden "OHHHHH" moment and it ties it all together
Odin Sphere would make a good play/musical.
Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" is an awesome album, as are the old Offspring albums. As far as early 90s rap, I like "The Chronic."
love the video boys, i like these type of videos nice and long!
If knew you had forum and were this Q&A, i would ask about if there will be a halloween special this year
I really love gaming and most of my friends play games like cod, battlefield, halo and pretty much multiplayer shooters.
