In today’s episode, Becket chats with Joy, a Christian fashion model he met on the set of a photo shoot back in 2005. They talk about that experience and how finding out she was a Christian affected Becket. Little did she know that she had planted a seed in Becket that would come to fruition 5 years later. We find out how Becket and Joy met years later in a church small. Joy was shocked to see Becket at this meeting.

    ABOUT BECKET:
Becket Cook was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He attended Jesuit College Preparatory
School of Dallas. After graduating from Austin College in Texas, Becket moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of writing and acting, finding success in both. He eventually went on to become a production designer working with the top photographers and directors in the world on fashion shoots for magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and for ad campaigns such as Gap, L'Oréal Paris, and Nike.
Finding a new sense of freedom in L.A., Becket also fully engaged in his new life as a gay man. He had a series of many relationships with men throughout the next fifteen years.
In September of 2009, Becket met a stranger at a coffee shop in Silver Lake who invited him to his church in Hollywood called Reality L.A. Becket reluctantly agreed to attend the service. After hearing the sermon that Sunday, Becket was utterly transformed by the gospel and gave his life to Christ. He also knew on that day when God revealed Himself to him that homosexuality was a sin and that he could no longer live that life. Becket was more than happy to count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus his Lord.
Becket spends much of his time in ministry speaking at churches, universities, and conferences helping believers (and non-believers) understand this issue biblically, theologically, culturally, and personally. Balancing grace and truth when teaching on this subject is of primary importance. His goal is to challenge the current cultural narrative about sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular by demonstrating through his personal testimony and biblical truths that, yes, homosexuality is still a sin, and that following Christ is infinitely more satisfying and joyous.
He has lived all over the world in major cities such as Rome, Vienna, and Tokyo.
Becket graduated from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University in 2017 with a Master of Arts in Theology.
Becket’s book, A Change of Affection: A Gay Man’s Incredible Story of Redemption, with a
foreword by Francis Chan, published by Thomas Nelson, released July 30, 2019.

I divorced my wife when she got saved because I was convinced she was insane (she had even said she loved God more than our sons and me). Years later I got saved and I understood! Boy was I ever wrong about my wife and who the Lord Jesus Christ is! God actually brought us back together after years of being apart. We remarried and are happy. God did this. He can do anything. He wanted us together so we could reinforce each other and reinforce our sons and their marriages.

I was living as a gay man till the Lord delivered me 13 years ago. I know it was Him because I was running from Him for many years, hard drinking, random and frequent hookups, porn addiction, very self destructive. I know the only reason I’m alive is because of Him. If you’re struggling with sin don’t give up. The power is in the Holy Spirit to say no to sin. God’s love frees us and it’s something that can only be experienced.

I see a lot of former gay life style conversions in these comments and plenty of other places. It is really inspiring. I'd be getting dragged into the culture shift and was wanting to be gay affirming for years. The Lord convicted me of that eventually and I realized I'd been getting too luke warm about too many areas. Not that I had ever been hostile or judgmental of the few gay or trans people I did meet. The Lord had always stopped my mouth from trying to talk to them about it, and I was only inspired to love them all the more and show a gracious side of Christians. I'm sure that's exactly what they need to experience sometimes. I'm hetero, but living commonlaw. It convicts me deeply to see the more difficult type of sex denial that a same sex attracted person must struggle w/ to really obey God fully. Esp. when gay culture is so celebrated these days and Christian values are looked down on. I've been living celebate for awhile as well. Please pray for me, as we have a difficult situation to work out.

My daughter came out to us as “Bi”… 7 days after her daughter, our 1st Grandbaby was born. She was having an affair with her female co-worker. My daughter left my son-in-law & our granddaughter to be with this woman. It’s been 3 years now. My heart has been broken into pieces. I know it breaks my Heavenly Fathers heart more. There have been times I have been so heartbroken I didn’t want to live anymore. Please pray God will restore her back to him. I am so thankful for this Channel. It’s has been giving me hope the God is working…even if I don’t see it.

Shelly, I can’t imagine how you must feel. My oldest son left his wife (girlfriend at the time) and his baby daughter, my granddaughter, for over a year as he was young and in drugs. It broke my heart that he would leave his baby. Then he got saved and reunited with his baby
      girl and years
later, her mom and they are married now. It was wonderful!, but the sad thing is my son was “church-hurt” and he and my daughter in law have left the church for some years now. My son’s heart is hardened and his relationship with both his daughters is
terrible, and his son. I could go on, but the one thing I do is keep praying for all of them and I speak to them about God, the latest christian music, concerts I go to, etc. My oldest granddaughter is now 29 and a
single mom of 4, she hasn’t given her life to God, but again, I pray, I take her kids to church and her oldest dtr, who will be 13 years old soon, just asked for a bible for her birthday and is reading her bible, went to church yesterday, she is really seeking. So prayer and I go to a support group, Celebrate Recovery, which really helps me with the anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts that I’ve had because at times I don’t want to live because I can’t take the pain of it all. Please message me if you ever want to talk, want prayer, connect with another christian. to message me - joan cummiskey-casey. Praying for you and for your daughter and your son in law and grandchild. ❤️❤️🙏🙏

Praying for you all. Don’t give up. God is working. Don’t stop praying the Lord answers prayers. I was out of the church for 20 years and was severely mentally ill and my moms prayers along with the prayers of my former pastor helped me get the healing to my soul and mind I needed and the answer to those prayers came to me with a direct word straight to my mind from the Holy Spirit. The word from God was exactly what I needed to hear and now I am back in church and serving the Lord. Don’t give up.

      @HopeBonarcher Рік тому +7

Yes. It’s so important to be equally yoked. But even in marriages where both are Christians, people go through different seasons and experiences with their walk and we have to pray and stay close to the Lord and be faithful. Certainly different if you’re not both Christians but Christian marriages definitely go through trials and testing as well. everyone has their challenges that the Lord uses to refine us and make us more like Him. As long as we are in this world, no one escapes it, believers just have the amazing grace of walking after Christ and by the Holy Spirit and the power of God on their side, as His children. All the best to you. God is able to finish the good work He began in you.

I became a Christian when I was 10. But I absorbed Jesus over a very long time through event after event. I can tell you today that I love him. I think that is what the Bible says, "workout your salvation with fear and trembling." Only, he was the one doing the work. I really did believe at 10, but I didn't fully understand what the results of my belief would mean.

      @Quiet Luther
1 If, then, there is any encouragement in Messiah, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of Spirit, if any affection and compassion,
2 make my joy complete by being of the same mind, having the same love, one in being and of purpose,
3 doing none at all through selfishness or self-conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
4 Each one should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
5 For, let this mind be in you which was also in Messiah יהושע,(Jesus)
6 who, being in the form of Elohim, did not regard equality with Elohim a matter to be grasped,
7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, and came to be in the likeness of men.
8 And having been found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death, death even of a stake.
9 Elohim, therefore, has highly exalted Him and given Him the Name which is above every name,
10 that at the Name of יהושע every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
11 and every tongue should confess [Isaiah 45:23] that יהושע Messiah is Master, to the esteem of Elohim the Father.
12 So that, my beloved, as you always obeyed - not only in my presence, but now much rather in my absence - work out your own deliverance with fear and trembling,
13 for it is Elohim who is working in you both to desire and to work for His good pleasure.
14 Do all matters without grumblings and disputings,
15 in order that you be blameless and faultless, children of Elohim without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, Deu 32:5 among whom you shine as lights in the world,
16 holding on to the Word of life, for a boast to me in the day of Messiah, that I have not run in vain or laboured in vain.
17 In fact, even if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the offering and service of your belief, I am glad and rejoice with you all.
18 So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.
19 But I trust in the Master יהושע to send Timotiyos to you shortly, so that I too am encouraged by news from you.
20 For I have no one else of the same mind, who takes a genuine interest in your welfare.
21 For all seek their own interests, not those of Messiah יהושע.
22 But you know he has proven himself, that as a son with his father he served with me for the Good News.
23 So I expect to send him as soon as I see how it goes with me,
24 and I trust in the Master that I myself shall also come shortly.
25 But I thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditos, my brother, fellow worker, and fellow soldier, and your emissary and servant to my need,
26 since he was longing for you all, and being troubled because you had heard that he was sick.
27 For indeed he was sick, near to death, but Elohim had compassion on him, and not only on him but on me as well, lest I should have sadness upon sadness.
28 Therefore I sent him more eagerly, so that on seeing him again you might rejoice, and I be less sad.
29 Receive him therefore in the Master with all joy, and hold such as he in esteem,
      Philippians 2 🕊️

So encouraging!! I also thought I was a Christian, but when I met real Christians, my life and priorities looked nothing like theirs, and I began to doubt that I knew the same Jesus. I'd been trying to be a "good person" and failing, but not understanding why. My well meaning friends and family told me I was a Christian because of what I was taught as a child, but when I read the Scriptures for the first time at age 23, 24, I could clearly see that Jesus was clearly different -- and I was not following Him at all. I also realized that I had never repented and had never had access to the Holy Spirit's power to change and fight my sinful nature. I had not been born again. I did not know what that meant until I read the Bible for myself. I had never really understood the simple Gospel. Praise God for patience with fools like me. He allowed me to seek and find the true Christ before I had made the really big decision of marriage. I married a wonderful, godly, faithful man after I was baptized into Christ. 25 years later, I am still so so grateful for His mercy, goodness, patience, and faithfulness. Unlike the shallow "church-y culture" I was raised in, we raised our kids in a gospel centered, Scripture filled home. Our adult kids made their decisions to follow Jesus (or not) based on His truth, not the watered down religious version I had known. They know their spiritual birthdays -- and we celebrate those days. We jokingly say "Happy Spirthday!" and happily remember the days.
Christians, when someone doubts their conversion, don't rush to reassure them. Find out their story. Take them to Scriptures to see if their conversion and beliefs and lives align with the Word. Being a false convert is a painful place. Don't assume. Ask. Read. Study the Scriptures with them and PRAY for God to reveal His truth to them and to you. My time as a false convert was deeply confusing -- and God is not the Author of confusion.

I wondered if my faith was real because it was such a slow subtle process and entirely intellectual, with no feeling. I liken it to turning an oil tanker 180º by pulling it around with a rope. It took a while. I can't place a date on my salvation, I don't remember. But I know the Truth, and I did not, before. Yet, I still yearn for a dramatic encounter. Not as a proof, I don't need a sign or a proof. But for an emotional fill to a heretofore entirely intellectual conversion. It occurs to me that a real face to face with Jesus would actually be a proof, and therefore obviate faith. So I suppose He may not do that. That's OK, I can wait!

Glad you pointed this out cause I noticed her comment on that as well.
I don’t have a date either or an experience like so many do. I knew the name of Jesus and said the sinners prayer as a teenager but not a personal relationship with him for years.
      There has been a few
Life events that the Lord clearly delivered me from and it opened my eyes on His faithfulness and I started getting a personal relationship with Jesus since that point. There has been a pulling from the Holy Spirit over the years where I have turned away from sinful things and a desire for getting closer to God.

But I was actually an unbeliever when I married my honey 38 years ago so when I got saved it became very difficult but he stayed with me 14 years until 2 years ago he decided he did not want to be married to a Christian anymore.
I just love how you said how it’s not our business how anyone comes to Christ we just need to walk the walk and talk the talk. So pretty much look like our Master Jesus to the world. It’s very easy to do when we are in the spirit always. I had to let my husband go but I still love him so much but it feels amazing to know that our God loves him so much as well.
Hey Becket, it would be amazing if Franky and Billy both get radically saved and you interview them both. I saw you on Chynas show. I knew that was you right away with your face blocked off. 😀❤️😀
I am praying for both these husbands and keep mine in prayer also. His name is Javi-

At 12, I said a prayer at a Christian Retreat. Said a prayer. Thought I was saved too. Would go through some terrible things and make some terrible decisions too that didn't represent Christ. NO Discipleship. No Sanctification. Such a good word there at 7:30 mark. I got truly born again at 27 in a radical way - regenerated!!! But it would take 5 years to really begin to see the fruit of HIM in ALL of my walk. And the ebbs and flows of walking with Him these 24 years. As others have commented - don't give up. Sin has been a constant struggle to the point that praying to God is hard because I feel I'm not worthy. I struggle to get the words out, so it's always just a simple "LORD PLEASE HELP ME!" That's a lie from the enemy that he loves to tell us. First he encourages our desire to sin then he accuses us and tells us we aren't worthy. It's such a predictable cycle...I was stuck in it for years and years. (Kind of like the Israelites stuck in the desert) After having a child and being diagnosed with lymphoma the Lord finally had my heart where it needed to be for me to want to give Him all my junk. He really loves us and has given us His Spirit which gives us His mighty power to live out what we read in His transformative Word. He has come to set the captives free! 💗🕊

Wow! Not sure how I missed this video when it came out a couple months ago, but it was unreal to hear someone else put into words what I had experienced for years growing up. Our stories are so similar in that way.
I, too, went to Awana and accepted Jesus at age six. Like Joy, I had a lot of head knowledge, but constantly felt like I didn’t measure up to other Christian kids (I know now that childhood trauma also played a role), and struggled with depression and anxiety. I was very zealous in high school. Everything was about pleasing my parents, making sure I got perfect grades, was good at sports, and was the model Christian. (I also graduated from a private Christian school, so the pressure was more intense in that way.)
But then in college, I slowly wandered into liberal thought, feminism, and developed some bad habits, the worst of which was being a serial dater. I hit a rock bottom (sparing the details), which eventually led me back to church and to some friends who came alongside me in my journey back to Christ.
In short, I had been dating an unbeliever. I was madly attracted to him and there were no issues, but the Lord clearly spoke to me through my friends and even my unbeliever sister that being in an unequal relationship was wrong. So I broke it off. Unlike Joy, though, I didn’t go back to that man.
I then met the man who became my husband. I began going to his smaller church, and have been on a gradual journey ever since. I no longer identify as a feminist (it took years for me to renounce this altogether), nor a progressive person, and the Lord is working on me on every season of my life. Some seasons are harder than others, but He is faithful. My husband had struggled for a handful of years with not wanting to go to church anymore, but recently has started going back consistently.

I grew up in the church hearing the word of God and it all sounded good. I wanted to be saved and learned what Christian behavior was and mimicked it. I prayed the prayer and “repented for all I had done wrong but nothing too specific”.
It was not until the Lord convicted me and showed me my sin, pride, than I was able to repent and delivered.
If you are a “struggling Christian “, pray for the Lord to show you your sin. The Lord’s yoke is truly light. He really does set free, but we most denounce and repent from all sin.

I was raised a Christian, I do know I was saved, and I had a great relationship with Jesus, I loved speaking to him as a child, and knew and felt his comfort in times of trouble..But I still struggled alot in my life. Esp as I got older, and started having kids, I had always struggled with low self esteem, depression, I exhibited alot of anger and impatience toward my husband, and like her I often felt like I couldnt get things right, my life was still a mess most of the time no matter how hard I tried. I had an amazing encounter with Jesus through a dream, That really healed my soul, and took away all my feelings of unworthiness and self loathing and I was touched in such a profound way with the love of Jesus. It completely changed me. I was delivered from many things that were a struggle my whole life in one instant!!...They say a true encounter with Jesus equals change! And I know I was changed, I felt so much more love and compassion for my husband My rage and anger was gone, My self loathing and depression... It was a completely different experience then my childhood. I am still grateful that I was raised with a knowledge and love of Jesus, But it became much deeper and filled with a greater fire and understanding after my encounter with Jesus as an adult. I remember being in like a "Honeymoon" phase afterwards where I would look so forward to waking up early and reading the Bible and spending time with Jesus, reading the Bible went from being a 'chore' that I had felt forced to do as a kid.. to being like a love letter from someone I loved. I have lost some of that intensity and have walked thru some extra hard things in the last few years, But I will never doubt the love of Jesus for me, and I hope to live out my love for him and be faithful to him.

I find this subject so interesting and I never see it anywhere and yet you have had 2 women in this situation on your show: Joy and Chynna. I have felt so alone in my journey (I mean the Lord is always right here with me) and take so much comfort in knowing these 2 women, who I don’t even know personally, are in the same boat. This is a unique walk where God transforms the believing spouse to such an iron clad KNOWING of a faith-walk that their u believing spouse will some day have the revelation no matter how many years we have been waiting. It’s a testament to how God can keep peace and maintain love between the two despite the fact that one is PASSIONATE about God and one is totally NOT! Thank you for all your amazing guests and for sharing the truth. Joy, Frankie will come in the Lord’s time and I love how you know that. I came to saving faith November 1, 1996. My husband came to saving faith in January 2019… Looking back I can see every providential step. It had to be in God’s way, and God’s time… But He always gave me strength when I needed it and the confidence assurance to be faithful and leave my husband in His mighty hands. I think it was God’s mercy that I had no idea how long it would be rather I constantly hoped and prayed it could be at any moment. Beckett, thank you for the passionately proclaiming truth. His light shines through both of you ✝️🙏❤️

Thank you, Heidi, I needed to read this. I met my husband in 2001, married in 2004 and I’ve been praying for his salvation the whole time. God has brought me so far. I’m at the point where I know it will happen no matter how long I’ve been waiting and I wait with JOY and thankfulness. It’s SO good to hear a story like mine. It’s the first time I’ve heard this on the other side where your husband finally believed. 💖

@@lindsaypeichl6974 If for no other reason, I believe God in His mercy allows us to go through certain things so that we can lift up others in the same situation. What I didn’t share in my post is like you and Joy, we were married in 1997. If you do the math, you will realize pretty quickly that as a very new believer in Christ I also walked down the aisle recognizing that I was about to be unequally yoked. I don’t know how to explain it other than to tell you that there was just this deep knowing in my soul that he would eventually come to saving faith and I am so grateful I had no idea how long it would be. I remember hearing a story once on the radio about a woman who prayed for her husband for 20 years and I thought oh Lord not 20 years… Silly me, it would be 23 years but I cannot even tell you the glory. I’m not on social media too much but if you look me up on Facebook messenger, I would love to talk with you and pray with you personally. Lifting you and your husband up in prayer sister knowing that your husband is in the hands of our mighty God
