Becks this was brilliant. I grew up on a steady diet of these shows and a feminist mother. All the pieces are cling together now. I was seriously indoctrinated into thinking this way since I was a child. Ruined my life. Nothing was right until I came to Christ and the absolute truth. I love the Word. I love my Shepherd. His rod and staff
I might also add, Bewitched was a classic case of a show that not only made the occult look harmless but also deminished and mocked the husband/father role.
I remember when everyone was making a big deal about the show "Married With Children". I watched it once out of curiosity. The husband and wife hated and disrespected eachother. The kids disrespected their parents. The father disrespected his son and daughter and the mom was just clueless and lazy. I found it sad and depressing but it was a popular 90s comedy. 🤷♀️
When I was a kid, “Bewitched” was one of my favorite shows. It just seemed like a fun show at the time. Strangely, I was more bothered by all the drinking. Every time Darren got home from work, Samantha made him a drink. When Endora or any of Sam’s relatives visited, the answer to every problem was to have a cocktail. My parents didn’t keep alcohol in the house and rarely drank, so I wondered if it was normal for everyone else to drink so much alcohol. It was always weird to me.
I'm not sure about Bewitched so much as all of the people who get into Harry Potter. Now that is pure Satan and it couldn't have been that bad if Agnes Moorehead agreed to do the show considering she was a devout Christian. But I do see your point too about the husband/father thing
As a Gen Xer, I'm looking back on a childhood where TV and movies raised me in a lot of ways. Mom and Dad worked, and I came home to an empty house often (after 5th grade or so). Those seemingly nice things said on television did a lot of damage to my generation. And now, the internet is destroying kids.
Wow thata so poignant. A generation was truly raised by themselves and tv. I was taking care of my sister in like 4th or 5th grade. Unconscionable! I know childcare is expensive but it truly was negligent and it was not age appropriate responsibility. We were protected by Angel's truly. I'm Oregon Trail generation.
Beckett everytime I listen to you it helps me. become less judgemental I committed grave sexual sin and I suffer shame and guilt to this day. It took my self respect and peace of mind. You are absolutely right It has also hugely affected how others see me and that deeply hurts me I had no idea at the time it would be so devastating .So to anyone who is thinking of anything other than sex after. marriage between a man and a woman don't do it. I promise you it's not worth it Listen to this message
I pray my adult sons will receive the gift u have been given.. very different issues however life threatening now & forever.. amen please Lord reveal urself to my sons & heal their lives.. thank u, Beckett
I agree. It goes for men, too. But with women, we are created to form a lifelong emotional bond when we have sex. So it hurt me, deeply. Now,. I am only even just dating when and who God wills me to. I am done doing my own thing, because it only broke my heart.
@Maggie7 Remember the scripture where Jesus meets the woman as she is being threatened to be stoned because of her adultery? Jesus ended with "Your sins are forgiven (he knew she was repentant)Go and sin no more", Focus on Jesus and what he said in the scripture (He supernaturally can make us spiritually a virgin again.) He renews us in Him. Don't carry the shame and guilt he says to Come all ye who are weary and He carries the yoke. I pray right now freedom in Christ, renew her mind in You. Cause her to hear you and give it all to you and know then she is forgiven. In Jesus name.
I remember this show...I cant believe my mom didnt change the channel. Im so guarded with my 15 yr old daughter. Yes im single too. But I tell her I did things my way instead of Gods way. I followed my own rules instead of Gods. now I can never be intimate because of an std I contracted while living as a "floozie". I show her comparisons with those who did follow His laws and how they're flourishing and happy. Im joyful now only after placing Our Lord first but an extra income would have been nice.
@@ronnieingle1447 God may have plans to place someone in your life for good, who knows... Thankful that we have been redeemed from darkness into light :)
My mom got pregnant by the time she was 17; and, at the time, my father was fresh from college, and just starting his career, working for the TV networks (mostly for ABC); and they had no God. And then, we moved into the same town as Linda Blair! But somehow, I survived and found Jesus! Btw, Becket: "One Day At A Time", is also the name of a hit gospel song from some years ago: "One day at a time, sweet Jesus; that's all I'm asking of you...". I think I'm going to go listen to that right now!
@@duncescotus2342 I looked at some her youtube videos, and posted a few things, and left it at that. Like I said before, her artwork reminded me of Guy Peeleart's work.
Becket, your observations are spot-on. By the way, Norman Lear founded People For The American Way in 1980. It is an anti-Christian values non-profit with the purpose of challenging what was then called, The Moral Majority. Lear was the leader of the "cool kids" back in the 1970s. I have to admit we watched All In The Family and we all laughed but I think we appreciated the acting and not the messaging. My dad and uncles fought in WW2 (a reference that Archie would make that was usually followed by a snarky remark from Mike the Meathead). Lear, who just celebrated his 100th Birthday is another one of those Marxist leaning liberals who made a vast fortune while breaking down the moral fiber of this country.
I was born 1950 and can remember when a TV was brought into our home. There were many wholesome shows like Father knows best, Lassie, etc. but the the comedies did best at bringing the subtle breakdown of values. I see it as being like an altar at which the family centered its life. There was little discussion that took place in this setting. Sadly, fathers allowed this invasion even if they nailed the windows.
Norman Lear is also responsible for getting rid of the father on Good Times. We all know where he was going there. To get rid of a father figure in a black household is something he claimed to be more realistic. And the way he fired John Amos was pathetic too. Norman Lear has a lot to answer for when he meets The Lord!
I am exactly Valerie Bertinelli's (Barbara's) age and watched this show when I was in high school. I read Cosmopolitan magazine (much to my mother's chagrin) and all these messages got me so off track from my Christian upbringing. I bought into the idea being sold to other young women like myself, putting off childbearing in favor of building a career, and when i did have my 2 babies in my early 30s in the 90s, i was still buying into "having it all" and "quality time" that was being shoved in my face constantly. In my 40s i got deep into New Age-y stuff that i wasted about 15 years dabbling in. Now, at the age of 59 I have come fully back to my Heavenly Father. I deserve a better God than myself. I can't tell myself anything that I don't already know, nobody fails me more than me, nobody breaks promises to me more than me, yes, I need to find a better standard outside my imperfect self. We have all been marinated in this crap all our lives, and yes, I have had to accept that the indoctrination has been going on for decades and unplugging from that and coming back to Truth is the best gift I can give myself and God's forgiveness and offer of salvation is so astounding. I realized I knew about God, but I didn't KNOW God. I am working on that now.
Seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened, seek our Lord Jesus with your whole person and He will fulfill heal and restore what the enemy has stolen. But it's all in remaining intentional in the process. Read and hunger for Jesus presence and His Word and may the Holy Spirit speak to you , guide you and provide wisdom and insight to the nature, character and attributes of our heavenly father and may He redeem all of you to to Himself by Jesus precious blood. Blessings and welcome back no matter how many years you been back to the fathers house!
@@nrs3772 Thank you for the kind and encouraging words! I went and looked up Valerie Bertinelli, and discovered she is actually 3 years older than me, haha! Here all these years I thought we were the same age. I guess she was playing a character younger than her real age, so oddly I feel maybe not quite so old, I'm actually Barbara's age then. Seriously, I am thankful for every day I get to walk with Jesus and throw off these trappings of the world.
I can so relate to your story! Just turned 60 myself and used to buy at lot of magazines too, including Cosmopolitan which smelled so lovely and was more intellectual and less gossipy than other publications. Glamour was another one I liked even better than Cosmo, until the publishers succumbed to pressure and started including a horoscope section, cancelling out the very reason it had been my favourite magazine. Of course, those kinds of mags came with all that feminist propaganda that so many of us fell for; free sex and career before and above a husband and a family. Back then marriage seemed to be both a dirty word and a hideous concept for men and women alike, I suppose because the Baby Boomers had suffered so much at the hands of the very damaged after two World Wars Silent Generation and how their experiences had affected their parenting. We are all products of the times we live in, as well as our own humanity. Thankfully I have a relationship with Jesus now also and like you have found my way out of the maze, which for me included not just the New Age but the occult, substance abuse and other harmful things. Many others don't. To God be the glory!
Beautifully said. Also reflects my experience. Now that I am back on track with Biblical Christianity, I have never bee happier or more blessed in my relationship with Yahweh.
Your comment reflects my transition back to my faith, and reason. You put it so beautifully, I hope you don't mind my quoting you. I've already shared the video of Becket and point out your comments. Thank you for putting into words my reasons for reversion to my cradle Catholic faith.
I could click this" like" button so many times .I listened and watched this very episode and it made an impact on me!! Because my own mother never told what to do I listened to this mother! got pregnant and dumped in high school and ended up on welfare. I took years to dig myself out of the hole that boy left me in. The depression, poverty and degradation i felt!!! oh my gosh. Iam a nurse now for 30 years and a christian, and so is my daughter. I also thank god for plucking us out of darkness.I wish I could go to highscools and preach what not to do!!! those poor kids, I feel so much for them!!
Honey, Norman Lear did that to you, intentionally. Wish there was a class action lawsuit directed at that guy and others like him. Straight out of the synagogue of Satan.
You can ! If you leave the Christianity out of your presentation, you need to into the schools and talk about healthy relationships. They often welcome outside sources for this!
@@cedar7050 I know but jesus is the most important part. When I realized how much he loved me I no longer felt the need to sleep around. He gave me self respect and so much more.
Becket, I believe God saved you not just because he loves you, but also so you could have this amazing online ministry. What you say has more effect on people than those of us who have never been in your shoes. God bless you, Becket!💕
As I’m currently working on a youth ward of psychiatry, I’m so grateful for your show because it gives me hope for these lovely people who have to deal with so many lies in their lives, including questions about identity, of course mainly in the spectrum of LGBTQ+. As a newborn christian and co-leader of the ward I often pray for wisdom and guidance. Lots of love from Switzerland.
If you’re a psychiatrist in modern Switzerland 🇨🇭, I would assume you support the doctrines of modern psychiatry, and not any of the Christian-based, pseudo-medical claims that are levied against gender-questioning youth, and others?
It’s crazy to think we’ve been indoctrinated for so long and we didn’t even know it. Feels like people have just woken up in the last 2 1/2 years. I thank God he woke me up. I’ll never know why, but I’ll forever be grateful 🙏❤️✝️
Yes, as a teenager I watched all the sitcoms of the day. I have never given any thought to the underlying messages. No wonder I wandered off the Christian path! I call “foul!”and at the same time realize in me the devil had an already wicked heart to work with. I am unendingly grateful Christ came to lead me to the true path found in Him. Hallelujah!!! And thank you, Beckett, for faithfully doing His work!
Becket Cook REALLY got saved! Love this man of God so much…Jesus has given him a voice and he uses it so well - he’s unashamed to speak truth in love💥🔥👑
I am so careful on what I watch, and what I let my Children watch. There is an agenda…I was getting down on myself , worrying about the culture & the world, but after reading scripture I was reminded that Christ keeps His promises & the gates of hell shall not prevail over Gods people…what a wonderful promise when all around us it feels so dark. God’s light shines the brighter. To God be His Glory! Thank you Beckett for being so open & honest in this dark culture.
Becket, this is so funny! My Daddy also put "BARS, black metal bars" across my bedroom window 🪟 and my sister Kristi's bedroom window 🪟 to keep guys from trying to visit after midnight! My parents always told us, " Nothing good happens after midnight." [ My Mom & Dad] I was also raised in a Christian ✝️ 🏡 home where the BIBLE was taught on Sundays and Wednesdays, and MODELED 24/7 in my home, thank God! My sister and I grew up with real platinum blonde 👱♀️ hair...and we tanned dark at the community pool in our bikinis every summer. My Mom had boys calling our telephone ☎️ or knocking on our door 🚪 everyday! I'm so grateful we were taught about "SEX IS FOR MARRIAGE, between one woman and one man." I'm so grateful me and my sister were NEVER put into any situations where we were abused or used! I give my parents so much credit even though both of them reside in HEAVEN now. So many young kids have been SA, and I'm grateful for My Mom Lynda and My Dad Buddy. We grew up in ARKANSAS , but spent summers in the Hollywood Hills because my Uncle D was a producer for A&M RECORDS HOLLYWOOD. Man, the parties and musicians at my Uncles house..thank God My Mom and My Aunt Mary protected me and my sister Kristi. Thanks for doing this video.Bravo, Becket!
Excellently put Becket. "One lie at a time" I love the way you debunk the Culture past or present with biblical truth. Keep up the good work. God save the King 🙏
I just discovered you one week ago, Becket, and I am so glad that I did! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this topic. I grew up on those sitcoms and did not realize that I was being indoctrinated, nor did I know about the Marxist underpinnings. Your show really opened my eyes. Thank you for loving God and being bold and courageous.
Once again, very encouraging. My dad is no longer living, but while he was alive he was asked to guest preach at another church even though he was really a music minister. I remember that he preached on finding our identity in Christ. Somewhere during the sermon, he referenced sitcoms that suck you in by getting you to laugh at sin. This was back in 1992 or 1993. Anyhow, this episode reminded me of his sermon. Of course, as a teenager then, I thought he was exaggerating and strict. However, I am so grateful for he and my mom. They were great parents who loved the Lord. Thanks again, Beckett.
I heard that there was actually a pattern producers used to introduce perversion, sometimes using years 1. Disgusted along with the characters 2. Laugh at it 3. Normalize it, accept it as comfortable along with the characters
I remember in the 60's the nuns at Catholic school would warn about TV programs. They were right. There used to be what was called the "Legion of Decency" in the 50's that reviewed films and graded them according what a Catholic was permitted to see, or rather what would put him or her in soul danger. They were RIGHT!!!
It’s crazy how I just watched One Day at a Time recently and didn’t realize how left leaning it was when I was a little kid. I have realized this about some of my favorite tv shows that I loved when I was just a little boy. You are absolutely correct. We were indoctrinated by everything
I realized the same thing when I decided to binge-watch Mary Tyler Moore while my husband did night shifts. I remembered it from the '70s just as funny, but as an adult, I was shocked and appalled at all the bad signals it gave, not least of which was "marriage never works out well."
55 years here, as a "heathen" with no rules but "gut feelings". I, too, found out, that this "sexual freedom" is destructive. Frankly, I found out the hard way, that after a while, you can't fall in love anymore. I found myself too cynical for that. All because I "exercised my freedom" sexually. Being born again now for 7 years (saved by God, not a decision I made) I can say that staying pure in this area is the best thing I've ever done in this area. I most likely will never get married, but that is a personal choice, not anything God keeps me from doing in His Word. Really enjoyed this video, Becket. Can't wait for next week's!
I remember this episode when I watched it as a kid. I had already made a vow to God that I would remain pure until my wedding and I remember thinking that it was nice to have a character who didn't just jump into the sack like every other character on TV. I remember there was a character on The Facts of Life who also remained a virgin. Those characters were few and far between, but nothing like nowadays. Interesting commentary Becket. You are amazing.
Becket, as always, thank you for tackling these difficult subjects. Having been married for 39 years, I now know God says wait until marriage so that you can trust your mate every day after marriage. My handsome husband is a pilot fir the air lines. Since we waited until our wedding night, I’ve never once wondered if he was cheating on me. He loved me enough to cherish & wait until our wedding night to consummate our marriage. Gods ways truly are best.
This is great!!! Those shows would be considered mild and tame compared to today…but for sure a step stone to where we are now. So so grateful for you and your testimony.
Spot on BC!! Good stuff! Thank you Jesus for having your hand on my head and bringing me out of darkness!! Jesus is my rock ,that's how I roll!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤😎
Amen! It took me many years to get this concept even after I became a Christian. God knows what is best for us. The Bible's sexual ethic is GOOD for us. It's healthy . It protects all of us from so many things, pain, hurt, heartbreak, unwanted pregnancy, deadly disease and on and on.
Thank you so much for making this video! I used to watch re-runs of this show when I was in High School. I remember one of the episodes focused on the mother bringing men home and sleeping with them. I stopped watching those reruns after that lol. It is fascinating to see that the lies of the culture are embedded in certain vintage shows like One Day At A Time.
All in the family and the Jeffersons were my favorites. Funny, I was a kid, all that flew over my head. Totally agree about indoctrinating the culture. Now it’s all out in the open, no more subtlety. Thanks Becket
Also the song lyrics I grew up with and sang out loud in front of my parents! I was too mbv naive to know some meanings, wonder what my parents thought, if they were listening.
This is also a good illustration of Hollywood's broken moral compass. Look at the TV shows produced today, dark and degenerate. Thanks Becket, excellent observations.
Thank you for this podcast. I came of age during the late 70s and early 80s. I remember this show well. It's intriguing to look back on what shaped us. As a decade, I believe the 70s in particular, was a period that really tore many from our Christian roots. It was a time that introduced us to New Age religions, divorce became more common place and thru popular entertainment, the seeds of homosexuality we're being planted. I think it'd be of interest to many (not just myself) if you could take a deeper dive into the bad influences of that decade.
@@debbiegum2226 I genuinely think, back then, much of the media and entertainment we're not necessarily promoting homosexuality (and other vices) but we're, instead, giving it mainstream exposure. Today however is a whole other matter. They are not only promoting it but they are practically enforcing it upon us. I took a brief look on TicTok and it's vile. They are not only making homosexuality look mainstream but they are, dare I say, adding themes of incest too. It's all leading towards a very horrible damnable path in the end. I pray true Christians stray far far away from this path.
Becket, I’m an 80 year old Christian grandma and I have to tell you that I am praying that our Heavenly Father will give you a wonderful Christian wife and children. I will be watching for his plan for you. Donna

Great episode, thanks Becket. BTW the mom's name was Ann Romano.. can't believe I remember that. I remember all the theme songs of the 70s show too. I remember being grossed out and uncomfortable as a child during "kissing scenes" on Happy Days. These shows/values get HARDWIRED into our brains as children. After years of broken & abusive relationships, I'm born again.. Thank you JESUS for saving me from destruction 🙏
I was among the small percentage of kids whose parents completely opted out of owning a TV all our growing up years. They lovingly and effectively taught and exemplified for us the Bible. Later when we were exposed to these TV shows, like when we were babysitting, or in friends' homes, we were able to easily identify and eschew the lies they constantly present. Another great episode, Becket! Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏
Such a great show! I grew up with these shows, but had an intact family and a wonderful local church family- this was my immunity during this era. Bill Cosby’s show in the 80s “It’s a different world” no coincidences!!!
I realized a few months ago that my beliefs about men and relationships have been heavily influenced by shows like One Day at A Time, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Phyllis, Rhoda, Alice, All In The Family, The Jeffersons and probably a host of other shows. With out me consciously being aware of it, I got the message NOT to expect to be provided for by a man or protected. These shows preached that you cannot rely on a husband and that you don’t need one. Worst of all, you cannot expect a man to stick with you through thick and thin; if you aren’t making your husband happy, he will leave you. I could go on about the negative messages these shows sent young kids and teenagers.
I've had this realization lately, too! All the "romance" in both comedies and dramas (even Star Trek!) as well as sexy, flirty & seductive characters, led me to believe women were supposed to act like this. My Christian parents were very naive about the content. I grew up glued to the tv, with reruns after school, and prime time all evening! I saturated in worldly content and now I recognize the huge impact it had on me.
@@kittylemew same here about my Mother not paying attention to what I was watching on TV, and I got saturated in it! I don’t think she really understand the effects it had on her as well as me!
Media message spoke to me too. I thought sex was an expectation, but commitment, was too much to ask. I thought that p was acceptable and expected for men to use and I even participated in the use of it, to be the "cool, open, unthreatened" girlfriend. (Then that business turned into a life of it's own.) I am hear to tell, anyone who will listen, Satan will not win. I am married now, and working toward healing with my husband and children by my side. We are kingdom building ! Who's in!? :) God is good.
Yes! I am a single mom and I do not recommend it to younger women. It's hard. Ideally a family should have a mother and father that offer a loving stable environment for their children. I love how joyful you are. I feel so grateful also. Thank you for sharing truth. People are waking up to the fact that these lies are greatly harming society.
Years and years of indoctrination through comedy. I used to inhale every single episode of this, and other Norman Lear shows. It's only until a few years ago that I realized just how immersed my thinking was...IS...in this stuff.
Love the title. Very insightful about Archie Bunker. We’ve been lied to for so long. Even so called “clean” shows, were not. So grateful for your videos. I remember that Thompson Twins song. It is on my iTunes.
I too grew up watching tv shows like “One Day at a Time”. I believe that the way I was raised, going to Presbyterian church on Sundays but the rest of the week not hearing God mentioned, is how I was able to fall into the new age as easily as I did later in my life. The culture when I was a young child, the late 70’s/early 80’s, I believe was the beginning of the indoctrination of the average American into Marxism. My parents were the first generation to not take Christian values as seriously. Their parents (my grandparents) were much more reverent to the church and Christian values. I’ve heard this same pattern for the majority of my friends who are my same age or around the same age as I am. I can see how sly the Marxist regime was when I remember how my parents were back then. I can see that they felt like they didn’t have anything to worry about in terms of actual Christian values going away. It’s like they felt like Christian values were automatically ingrained into people, so they had plenty of room to make fun of certain Christian values being tightly unkept by the older generation. To them it was fun to “know” that no one ever needed to be so uptight about upholding Christian values, and behind closed doors poke fun at some “more uptight” Christians like the older generation etc. They would watch Richard Pryor and enjoy listening to the Doobie Brothers etc behind closed doors. Never was the Bible, or God, or Jesus mentioned at our home. But as was expected of them, they appeared as decent upstanding Christian folks anytime they were out amongst people, anytime they were outside the house. It’s really a night and day difference in the attitude toward God and church of my grandparents time, and the time my parents were making their family household. And this difference came through American households at large I believe without anyone ever knowing it was happening. * By the way, I was married on September 20th (2008), the same day you were saved Beckett! I’m divorced. But if I had not fallen back into new age in my second year of marriage, I would still be married. I was officially divorced in October of 2018. I have been a born again Christian for two years now. -Leahanne (Mooresville, near Charlotte, NC)
Thank you so much for sharing! My parents are very devout Christians and I too began to have the same thoughts as your parents. Luckily, I grew up part of a church that gave me a strong foundation in Christ but now I regret the days I made fun of my parents while I leaned towards a more Marxist view. Your testimony shows me how I must be careful of living "godly" outwardly without actually having the fruits. And how it can affect my children and those around me! God bless you!
Thank you Becket. Raising kids in this times is tough and we need every help we can. You are right. The Bible. I’m glad you used that show as an example. I loved it back in the day. Thank you for taking from your valuable time to do these videos.
Thank you Becket! You really nail the truth! This is so important for people to see. Because this secular world is really crazy! The Word of God is the only boundaries we should follow. Witch ser us free and gives us peace.
You hit the nail on the head. That was an example of how we get brainwashed just by entertainment. Christian parents need to discuss these issues with their children with love and patience.
You're one of the few Christians who, like me, discuss pop culture and help people discern it. (I've been consuming it for 50 + years). I remember that episode. It impacted me as a kid and BEFORE I was a Christian. Do you remember when Natalie lost her virginity on Facts of Life? Now people don't even know fornication is a sin. Glad you're discussing these things. Go for it "Cookie-Man"! You're SO needed. 😊👍 ✝🇨🇦🙋🏻♀️
I grew up watching Maude, All in the family, One day at a time, Carol Burnett. It took me til age 50 to realize the indoctrination I was subjected to. Glad we're forgiven and in The Word!
As always, I appreciate these biblical dissections of pop culture, especially considering your background in Hollywood. Also, to comment on your point about the Marxist abolition of the family structure, I always found this so ironic, considering Marx was himself both a husband and a father. I guess the hypocrite should have followed his own advice 🤷🏻♂️
Engels bailed Marx out time and time again both personally and professionally. But being a husband and father whilst wanting to tear the family down is a "luxury" belief.
I saw that show sometimes when I was a kid. My mom was a single mom with two daughters through the last half of the 70s. I don't remember anything specific about the show, but it's interesting to hear some of what it was about. Glad those messages didn't stick in my head. Thank you, Lord.
I was just telling my husband about this last week! This was the show that taught me when to have sex. I believed this show's advice. I remember the mom saying something like you'll know when your ready. I wanted to be older that I was. I can't believe that you are bringing this show up in conversation, but I'm so glad. Thank you! I'm going to send this link to my husband. It will blow his mind since I really and truly was just telling him about this.
“Feelings” got me in lots of trouble! God made us to not go by feelings .... there’s a consequence when we do things by feelings. I had a daughter out of marriage. It was my high school “sweetheart”, the only boy I ever “did it “ with. I end up pregnant 2 years later..... I wouldn’t have an abortion so he never saw me again. I have a beautiful daughter but she grew up with no father and I had the stigma of an “unwed mother “. There’s a reason God has these rule for us..... when we follow our misguided “feelings” allot of people end up getting hurt
🤗Don't accept the stigma. You are redeemed by God and he knit your child together in your womb! You mothered your child, instead of giving in to pressure by adoption agencies and their social workers that told moms they would forget about their baby or having an abortion. You did the best you could at the time with what you did know. ❤️🕊
I watch this show every night on Antenna TV along with others from the 70s. It's fun and nostalgic but like some of the other shows, some of the content didn't age well and is very disturbing. Women were seen as being liberated by rejecting marriage and the dialog made marriage seem loveless and boring. It never got to me as a kid because I had my parents and my grandparents as role models and they had great marriages although they struggled a few times with fidelity, they still stayed together and weathered it through. The most disturbing thing for me when I watch the show now is realizing what MacKenzie Phillips was going through at the time. She was so young and her father was feeding her drugs and convincing her that daughters having sex with their fathers was normal and that they had this special relationship. Her whole family accepted it as normal! I heard Chynna talk about it on her channel. The whole thing is chilling. I have so much respect for her that she survived that and seems to be thriving.
Same response here. A few years after becoming a believer, I watched the movie Grease again. I remember really liking it back then. But, wow! What an immoral story line. What were my parents ( not believers ) thinking allowing me to watch it???
Thank you Becket for shining light and truth ! I told my Messianic dance group about your show and I believe they are interested. The Biblical Fall Holy Days and Feasts are coming for all of us believers to celebrate, praise Yeshua‼️😀🍎🍯✡️
Listening to this I feel like my brain just had a filet mignon . My intellect and my soul thank you. Praise God ! Proof that you don’t have to check Your brain at the door to become a Christian . Everything makes so much sense.
Oh my gosh. This was so relevant. I grew up with that show… and it was that subtle (not so subtle) messaging that shaped my attitudes. I’m with you, Beckett. I’m so glad to and grateful to be out of darkness. So so glad.
I was in my early 20’s when I watched that show. The problem with those shows is that they never gave any compelling reasons not to wait until marriage. Obviously the mother in this show doesn’t have any moral reasons for saying no. But the reason they are showing ambivalence is because our society was ambivalent at the time. But these shows continually gave us reasons not to keep it in marriage. Now it’s no holds barred and someone who is shown as virginal is considered weird.
God bless you Becket. Thank you for this. I plan to listen to this episode with my grand daughter. This is especially meaningful now, and knowing what these two young women were experiencing in their actual lives. True darkness.
Another excellent show!! A great reminder of how we should be constantly in the Word of God, because it is sharper than a two edged sword! (Hebrews 4:12) It penetrates even to the bone and marrow and it shapes our minds because it is alive! Honor and Glory to God who deafeated the enemy and triumphed over him (Colossians 2:15) And may through his wisdom (James 1:5) we learn to discearn right from wrong, what shapes us and what not!! 🥰
The intro theme says it all: This is it. This is it. This is life, the one you get So go and have a ball. This is it. This is it Straight ahead and rest assured You can't be sure at all. So while you're here enjoy the view Keep on doing what you do So hold on tight we'll muddle through One day at a time, One day at a time. So up on your feet. Love listening to you talk and so appreciate your thoughtful explanations. God chose you specifically to shine His light and give His gospel. What a beautiful example of Gods love and power you are. Praying for you!! 😊🙏🏻❤️
What a great show and commentary, Becket. I, too, grew up on these shows and they unfortunately greatly shaped my worldview given that our family was unsaved. But what I always appreciate about your videos is your great love for Jesus that just flows from your very being so naturally and abundantly. Thank you for your contribution to His kingdom! 💕
Thanks so much Becket for never missing a beat and exposing all those liberal undercurrents that affect us at our core. Undermining the family, not loving the body you were given, being a strong parent. All your subjects touch us all.❤
This was on in the mornings when I was a tiny kid at my babysitter’s. Now I know where I got the idea of saying, “Don’t worry, there are no beds in the house” when trying to convince a boy to come to my Halloween party - when I was in grade 4 🥹. (Btw my mom went through the roof when she learned I’d invited boys behind her back). Incidentally my parents divorced when I was in grade 4. Things did not turn out well for me 🤨. The Becket Cook Show is the highlight of my week. Now… back to the cats.

Thanks Beck! We often overlook that entertainment is not created by Believers serving Christ. Guard must be set against being beguiled by subtle but powerful messages which are contrary to Scripture's teaching.
What great insight! I loved this show many years ago, but did not realize how I was being guided into a sinful little life. Thank you Becket for spreading some clarity! God bless you and your ministry.
This was really helpful to me. I never realized how blessed I was to know these definite boundaries. I never had to wonder. And I met my husband who had the same values. God protected me more than l realized.
I love that you draw attention to the fact that what we watch on TV SHAPES our world view and morals! This is my favorite UA-cam channel. It’s always a blessing.
Becket, I grew up watching these shows too, and though I was in my early teens, I could see the "left wing" or down right Marxist programs that were created by Norman Lear. I recall an episode of Maud where the subject of abortion was viewed in a favorable light. Even as far back as "I Love Lucy," a show that I loved, but realized the show truly was a bad influence on people. Lucy managed to lie, cheat, steal, slip sleeping pills in Ricky's drink, but because it was a comedy, no one really noticed the sin that Lucy committed during each show. Good video Becket and Happy Birthday (born again) on Sept. 20th!
Hi Becket - Great job explaining all this. This messaging was everywhere in media. My parents were hesitant about me watching Disney growing up because every show..the parents were dead, died, or were evil. There were not any solid family situations were parents were honored and good. Thank you for always shining the light of truth into various topics.
Exactly why I never let my son watch Disney. Because I grew up watching them and never understood why so many little ones were orphaned/displaced, or else there was sorcery/witchcraft involved.
Disney charcters are always having their "wonderful adventures" as a result of disobedience to their parents. I haven't seen a Disney show in many years and thankfully my young grandkids are ignorant of most things Disney.
Praise God Becket that the Lord has saved us! I'm not a parent, but this episode made me reflect on how I would talk to my future children about these ideas while incorporating the Lord and giving reason that there's a reason we have those gut feelings that things are right or wrong. God bless!
Looking forward to this! Our favorites were love boat and fantasy island. Three's company... I'm not sure what my parents were thinking letting us watch all this but it was the norm...love you Becket!
Such a good show Becket. I watched these shows as well and they influenced my life. I’m so thankful like you that the Holy Spirit pursued me, forgave me and changed my life. I love that the Bible in my guidebook for life. He says it. I agree with it. Yes, amazing grace is amazing isn’t it!!! Becket please research Tim Keller. There’s a documentary on Enemies Within the Church. You can watch clips on UA-cam of it on Rock Harbor Church w/ Brandon Holthaus. Also, Billy Crone on UA-cam.

Same.
Very well said, my life was seriously messed up by these nonstop philosophies. I found the Lord in 1981 and I praise God for his goodness.
@hayswhite Amen, me three.
Agreed the dad was seen as a fool and played by his mother in law
When I was a kid, “Bewitched” was one of my favorite shows. It just seemed like a fun show at the time. Strangely, I was more bothered by all the drinking. Every time Darren got home from work, Samantha made him a drink. When Endora or any of Sam’s relatives visited, the answer to every problem was to have a cocktail. My parents didn’t keep alcohol in the house and rarely drank, so I wondered if it was normal for everyone else to drink so much alcohol. It was always weird to me.
Great observations about "Bewitched". I watched that show and also "Dark Shadows" which really led me into an interest in the occult.
The exposure we had in the 70s/80s is childs play compared to the highway of poison available to today's children via their phones and Internet.
so true about TV raised kids, unfortunately
Uffdah....same.
Im an 80s kid and I and my friends were too busy doing things to be watching that much TV.
Beckett everytime I listen to you it helps me. become less judgemental
I committed grave sexual sin and I suffer shame and guilt to this day. It took my self respect and peace of mind. You are absolutely right
It has also hugely affected how others see me and that deeply hurts me
I had no idea at the time it would be so devastating .So to anyone who is thinking of anything other than sex after. marriage between a man and a woman don't do it. I promise you it's not worth it
Listen to this message
If you are a Christian and have repented, you have God's grace, mercy and forgiveness. ❤ No more shame/guilt.
Thank you
Perfect example of how confused the world is regarding right and wrong. And imagine, it's only gotten worse. Thank you. Becket
Hey, just wondering if you were able to hook up with Kata the artist. If it's not a good fit, I understand.

God has allowed Lear to see 100. I pray that Lear comes to Christ before he leaves this earth.
I didn't know that Lear started the PFTAW. That says all you need to know about him.
You definitely hit the nail on the head with this observation

I heard that there was actually a pattern producers used to introduce perversion, sometimes using years
1. Disgusted along with the characters
2. Laugh at it
I used to watch Two men with Charlie sheen and think, when the kid grows up he will be horrified. And that's what happened.
George he now is Christian and gave up doing the show because of the show was playing him in ways he was not comfortable
Great insight. I was one of those skulls of mush soaking in the indoctrination. It's amazing how blind we are without the Lord.

Stay in the WORD of GOD!! We will each go before a Holy GOD!! Always enjoy your ministry messages. I thank God for you!
Definitely
The show “3’s Company” got us to accept homosexuality by getting us to laugh at it.
I love your straight forward compassionate, biblical, non-compromising life in Christ. We NEED more of that of The Church. Thank you ❤
Becket, I’m an 80 year old Christian grandma and I have to tell you that I am praying that our Heavenly Father will give you a wonderful Christian wife and children. I will be watching for his plan for you. Donna
U just dont get how hurtful ur comment is ......u should pray & encourage us to be strong & faithful in our choice to be celibate to obey Gods Word.....
READ MATTHEW 19:12 JESUS SAID HIMSELF '' SOME ARE BORN THIS WAY.....'' yes like Lady Gaga song ...but it doesnt mean it is good ....as people are born blind....handicapped etc .....we were born with no attraction at AT ALL to the opposite sex ......God wanted this for us.....we must be celibate for His glory.....& as a witness to the power of conviction of the Holy Spirit.....of course God can do everything .....He can heal a blind person if He wants ....heal an alcoholic drug addict adulterous way of living & homosexuality if He wants .....but thats His Choice not ours ......we must repent and obey His Word .....please encourage us IN OUR STRUGGLE .& WITH CARRYING OUR CROSS EVERYDAY ......God bless you Granny 🥰
God did not give the désire for other of the same sexe .....God made us with NO désire for the opposite sex ......désire for same sexe comes as a défault...if the person is not with the Lord ....to fill the empty void THAT GOD IS SUPPOSE TO FILL in a SAVED homosexual ....or '' eunuch'' ...
Jésus spoke Aramaic ...Hebrew .....the Word He used is SARIS ....wich in His time designated men with NO attraction to women from birth & castrated men and voluntary celibate hétérosexual men for religious or political reasons....THIS TEACHING IS FROM JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF
@@adamvillemaire984 Do you know Becket personally and that this is his feeling on the subject?
@@cynthiafisher9907
No i dont know Becket personnally ...wish i did he would be a good christian Brother....we would understand each other fully having the same cross to bear.....and battles to fight ...
I follow & believe teachings of scripture ....read matthew 19...Jesus spoke Hebrew .....equivalent for eunuch in Hebrew is SARIS .....a man that does not have sexual attraction to opposite sex .....that was the meaning at that time...Jesus Said sone are born this way....others by men ( castrated) others by choice for God ( Catholic priests monks .. nuns for example ) ....does not mean because we are born this way ...it is good ....people born blind or handicapped isnt good either....we were not born with same sex désires ...we were born without désire for the opposite sex .....
Without God to fill the void inside ....same sex désires come...by défault......when we accept Christ the void is filled & we can be celibate & very happy filled with Gods présence ....
@@adamvillemaire984 I believe that is a definite possibility. I just wondered if you knew he has the same desire to remain celibate. It might not be his desire for you to speak for him.
If only there were more humans like Becket 👏🏻
Love to listen to you Becket!!! You hit the nail right on the head. Under our noses all these years, and we were not even aware of it. I, like you, have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and I am eternally grateful. God bless you hon-please keep up the terrific work you are doing!!!
I felt the same way when watching Happy Days. (Though they were "necking" scenes.)
Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏
It always warms my heart and brings me closer to God when I hear your testimony and hear you praise Him. Thank you Becket !
Such a great show! I grew up with these shows, but had an intact family and a wonderful local church family- this was my immunity during this era. Bill Cosby’s show in the 80s “It’s a different world” no coincidences!!!
So True! The security in marriage is for real! Thank you God for your righteous ways!
Yup
Thanks!
Thank you! God Bless
Rejoicing that I was also chosen and that HE is the firm foundation - the only Rock on which we can stand and know we won't fail, in the long run!
You hit the nail on the head. That was an example of how we get brainwashed just by entertainment. Christian parents need to discuss these issues with their children with love and patience.
I love you, Becket! God bless you! I thank God for you! 🙏🏻💕😊
✍️☝️☝️💯❤️.
I grew up watching Maude, All in the family, One day at a time, Carol Burnett. It took me til age 50 to realize the indoctrination I was subjected to. Glad we're forgiven and in The Word!
SO grateful for this Jesus who taught me boundaries. I was on my own from 16-42….and HE turn on the lights in my darkness…♥️🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🥰✝️✝️✝️
The plum line is for the boundary for all our lives on all areas of our lives. I'm thankful for that insight from Holy Spirit
I rejoice with you! Praise the Lord! 🙌

I thank God for bringing you to truth AND for how you inform and enlighten others now. I enjoy your show!!❤
Thank you for speaking THE TRUTH in this confused World. May God continue to bless you & help you 🥰
I watch this show every night on Antenna TV along with others from the 70s.
God bless you, Becket. I love hearing your thoughts on the culture. BTW I actually remember that episode.
Wow, Becket! I watched these shows. I haven’t seen them for years and years but this gives me an entirely new perspective.
The moedim are integral to our faith. Will be celebrating sukkot next month. Shalom and blessing in Yeshua.
Keep doing what you do Brother Becket. May the LORD continue to bless the work of your hands. God bless and much love
Beckett, I just love your show. I always come away encouraged. Thank you brother in Christ.
Listening to this I feel like my brain just had a filet mignon . My intellect and my soul thank you. Praise God ! Proof that you don’t have to check Your brain at the door to become a Christian . Everything makes so much sense.
Hi Beckett, I wondered where you were going in the beginning of this episode. It turned out to be so profound! Great job, as usual! God bless you!!
💯💯💯💯 Amen!
The intro theme says it all:
This is it. This is it.
This is life, the one you get
So go and have a ball.
This is it. This is it
Straight ahead and rest assured
You can't be sure at all.
So while you're here enjoy the view
Keep on doing what you do
So hold on tight we'll muddle through
One day at a time, One day at a time.
So up on your feet. Up on your feet
Somewhere there's music playing.
Don't you worry none
We'll just take it like it comes.
One day at a time, one day at a time.
One day at a time, one day at a time.
One day at a time, one day at a time.
One day at a time, one day at a time.
That sounds like the serpent no?
'you can't be sure at all' and the whole theme is empty!
