The directors of this show have previously said that when casting they are not looking for perfect look alikes, but actors who capture the essence of the people they are portraying. Claire Foye, looks nothing like Queen Elizabeth for example. I am not sure however that the person we saw in this trailer is JFK, because although the directors may not want perfect look alikes, JFK had red hair, so any actor playing JFK either needs to have red hair or have it dyed or something.

watching TheCrown has brought up so many feelings for me. each episode brings shades of bullying to light in subtle, powerful ways.
i absolutely love claire foy in this series. the way that her face and eyes express her thoughts. she can say very little but show so much with just a stare or a twitch of the mouth. i'll definitely miss her next season. 😦

Season 1 to season 2 is beautiful. In the beginning of season 1 we saw her play a princess who was happily married. Then in here you see her as a strong monarch. She is doing so good she has a great future ahead

OMG OMG This looks incredible. Claire Foy is so amazing as Elizabeth, it's mind-boggling. I love learning so much more about the Royals than I ever knew before.
My parents grew up in the British west indies in the 50s-60s and recall the visits from the royal family. Particularly my grandmother has a wedding day photo with her hair cut like Queen Elizabeth II. I believe her wedding was in the mid 40s. But in modern day, post our Barbados Independence back in 1966, no one of the generation care much for the royal family. Times have changed. It was really jarring when watching this series, when Princess Elizabeth at the time, visited several islands of the west indies who were previously under British rule, and part of her speech which disturbed me was, to the affect of "we are grateful our influence made you better". paraphrasing of course. But such a high and mighty ego to say something like that. However having watching the 1 season of The Crown and recently finishing Downton Abbey, I finally get how the titles and whole royal and noble family stuff works. Including the culture surrounding it. As Americans we all say this is dumb and stupid, but in actuality this is their culture. The same how you have indigenous tribes in South America, Africa have their own hierarchy culture, the UK has their own. It is what it is. For the UK, it's a christian culture and they are doing god's work as they are chosen to be. Although, I can't imagine any of them praying in the same fashion as ultra christians factions in the USA.

I'm gutted that they will replace the actors in series 3. Rather pointless really as they could dress these actors up as older people. Nobody will be as good as Claire Foy for the Queen!

She's great, but I still think that Helen Mirren's Elizabeth II is better (personal opinion). So yeah, I think that there will be subsequent ones who'll be just as good (if not, better even, perhaps). But again, I love Foy in the role.

It'd be pointless. They'd be doing for the sake of 'spot the celebrity'. They only met once and it wasn't really an impactful meeting on either The Royal Family or Westminister. The show prides itself on historical value and accuracy, so a Marliyn Monroe episode would nothing.
That "if only" line is what makes me want to watch this show.
Just finished watching Season 1 for the first time. (I'm a bit late in the game but oh well!) Although they took certain liberties with it as far Queen Elizabeth II communicating with her Uncle David after the funerals of her father and grandmother, which I really doubt happened and some other things, I still found myself liking it. The acting is top notch, the cinematography is fantastic and the writing is so good. I thought John Lithgow as Winston Churchill was amazing. Claire Foy as a young Queen Elizabeth II, well what can I say? Outstanding! She deserved to get the Emmy win. Hopefully next year! Intrigued by the trailer for the new season coming December 8th. This should be good..
