From a complete business dance, comparisons are very important because that’s what allows artists to build similarities and distinguish themselves from other sounds on the market! From a consumer point of view, similarities are what will help artists expand their fanbase and acquire other listeners overtime (ex. i like this artists because I like this sound also used by other artists) As a Camila fan, you might be tired because you saw it way too much, but from a cultural and business perspective, it’s an important part of critical thinking and appreciation 🙂

When people compare her to Charli, they say it in a more malice way, and ik you don’t mean it that way but it’s really not a good comparison seeing as they are literally nothing alike, their music is nothing alike and their attitudes are nothing alike. And I actually enjoy Charli, seeing her later this year. But this is truly tired and I mean it, Camila has always tried to explore herself and trying to give credit to someone who frankly isn’t even comparable to her, is just a slap in the face.
The big thinkpieces on Camila to discredit her as an artist and not give her credit is crazy. It’s always “not quite” or “she’s almost there” but she has IT and people are upset about it.
Hence the reasons why I said that some songs where “not up my alley” or “hip hop is not necessarily my sound” hahahaha did you even watch the whole video? 🤔

As if she was confined in one box and she is forbidden to try new sounds. She said in an interview that she is grateful that she is able to explore and not worry about commercial success because she is okay. So I don’t think the label have much issue with the sales especially when it’s her 4th top 20 album and regardless of how people talk about her, she is still being talked about and is still a main pop girl. I hope she continues to explore new sounds and even eventually collab with people like Charli xcx (already have written songs together) or Caroline Polachek

I think this is a sleeper album. It’s not great at first listen but when you go back and just vibe with the songs and just flow with it you will start to fall in love with it

The Charli comparisons are so tired
From a complete business dance, comparisons are very important because that’s what allows artists to build similarities and distinguish themselves from other sounds on the market! From a consumer point of view, similarities are what will help artists expand their fanbase and acquire other listeners overtime (ex. i like this artists because I like this sound also used by other artists)
