Super Junior's "Raining Spell for Love" was originally released as a b-side track on their Mamacita album in 2014, but they almost never perform it live, so this was a special remake of the song as part of their 15th anniversary in 2020. This video is a live recording of the song. It was a prerelease track on their 10th full length album called Renaissance. And, of course, the vocals are insane, Super Junior is an OG group from SM, so you shouldn't expect any less. That is why SM is the vocal powerhouse of the industry because absolutely all of SM's artists are unbelievable singers. Everyone under SM is expected to be top tier vocalists. Plus, Super Junior has the 3 best vocalists -- Kyuhyun, Ryeowook and Yesung -- who make up the sub-unit Super Junior-K.R.Y. You just witnessed why K.R.Y. are considered some of the best vocalists in the industry. Super Junior-K.R.Y. debuted in 2006 as the industry's very first sub-unit. They are a ballad unit who -- up until 2020 when they released their first album as a sub-unit -- only performed live. K.R.Y is known for having an unbelievable vocal range. Kyuhyun, Ryeowook and Yesung are the vocal standard in the industry, who set the bar that all other vocalists are measured against. But as an SM group, as you just heard, all the members of Super Junior are amazing singers -- even their rappers have been known to fill in as a main vocalists. And because SuJu is so diverse, with so many unique members (at their peak they had 15 members), this allows them to be able to do almost anything. As an ELF (Super Junior fan) i genuinely appreciate the fact that you compared both versions and also researched for the lirycs meaning. Thank you very much for that. SJ is a really talented boy and but not everyone take the time to really appreciate the vocals, the esthetics, and the true art in their music.
yes, they can sing! Super Junior is a bunch of great vocals. Separated they are very good, together they are more than amazing ! Raining spell is great to notice the individual voices as "Mirror" too. this group has great harmonies , their voices complement each other.and they know how to take advantage of it.Thanks for one more grat reaction ( try Superman and knock out when you can) Another sugestion : growing pains from the Super Junior subunit D&E. its a great song with a wonderful vibe.
The thing with Super Junior is they have been together for so long and SM really has harsh trainings on singing. SJ can sound this good together because they lack ego when they sing even with 3 top tier vocalists (KRY, oldest sub-unit and best vocal line in Kpop) within them. SJ has always been about presenting forth good quality songs so members never try to overshadow one another and everyone knows their place.

Yes! Thank you for your reaction to one of my favorites from Super Junior. Individually, they already sound good, and when they’re together, they sound great! I agree that not all voice combinations and transitions are good together, but with them, they managed to execute those transitions with ease and sound really good. They can be trendy with their song and dance performances but at the same time be classic legendary singers with their ballads. They’ve been together for 17 years and I think that alone can somehow polish them into these beautiful sounding gems.
I can only imagine how much time they have spent singing together withing that 17 years, especially considering just private moments of them singing together when there's no camera pointing at them. It has to equate to years of their lives just singing together.
Maybe someone already said it, but I think the line "So the raindrops that block you won't stop" mean that they block the person from leaving them. So long as it's raining they don't leave and love won't stop.
you'll notice all groups from SM harmonize well together and emphasize that. it doesnt mean other groups dont ever do it, but they specifically focus on that with all of their groups. you'll find that SM prioritizes vocals over even dance and rap which are what kpop is generally known for. for me, this is why i prefer groups from SM :) that said, they still have idols in the company who are known to be among the best dancers in the industry (taemin, kai, ten, taeyong).

idk if you noticed but the lyric video is way older than the live clip. the live clip was done as a remake. it even has different/less members than the lyric video, since 2 members are no longer with the group and yesung was in the military when the original song first came out.
Since no one has suggested it yet, I really like Callin', which is a newer song. There are so many amazing songs to choose from though and all the sub units are unique but worth listening to. I also love Too Late live during SS7, since two out of three of the main vocalists were away, and all the other voices really shine. 😊
I think the rain has some special meaning in Korea or maybe I'm wrong but it's used a lot in kdramas and Donghae composed "Don't Leave Me Like The Rain" but they translated that title into English as "One More Chance" to make more sense. It's just an opinion. By the way, I really appreciate that you also look for the meaning of the songs 💙
I'm very late to the party, but you should really listen to some old DBSK/TVQX where it was 5 members. They harmonise a LOT. Their original concept was acapella dance group and it really shows. Even their dance tracks have just the most fantastic vocals.

Their work in japanese is excellent as they had a massive japanese fanbase. Perennial classics of the reaction genre for them which seem to get good hits on youtube are Bolero live at Tokyo Dome, and Love in the Ice. Both of which you'd enjoy.

I suspect K-Pop groups don't harmonize as much because polyphonic music is actually a western invention, asian music is traditionally monophonic. But of course K-Pop is influenced by western music, so they do harmonize, but not in dance music, more in ballads. But even that tends to be limited due to the preference for high voices, even in male idols. SuJu had a greater diversity of voices from the beginning, but their early R&B ballad, "Sorry, Sorry - Answer" was heavily supported by the singer Yoo Young Jin, who was also singing mentor for Yesung, who has a lower, rougher voice that many people in the beginning thought was "ugly". It's a different aesthetic.
@@kpopauntie SuJu did a satirical "opera version" of three of their songs in their SS9 concert, which is absolutely hilarious. And if you notice how they sing with deeper, belting voices etc, it's also happens to be a parody of western classical, polyphonic music. I posted a version in good quality on my channel. Super Junior has KR.Y. Sub-unit with their three main vocalists Yesung, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun. Honestly they are the best vocals in kpop
