    I saw my 3 year-old niece watching Ms. Marvel on her tablet and eating a Frozen 2 blueberry yogurt. This is the first time I've seen her watch anything MCU on Disney+.

      My 4 year old loves “Spidey and His Amazing Friends” and I know that Black Panther and Ms. Marvel guest on that cute little show, so he recognized Ms. Marvel on the Disney plus thumbnail. I love these shows with broad appeal that bring in new audiences!

    You guys thought this was slow? Most people have been in consensus that this is one of the most well paced marvel episodes to date. It had my attention from beginning to end. Also color, vibrance and energy does not mean made for kids. This show was not made for kids. Like many other things, it’s made to appeal to a broad audience and be more light hearted but that never means kiddish. New girl is not kiddish and it has a very light hearted tone. Scott pilgrim has a similar artistic style and that’s not made for kids either. Kids will love this yes, but so have and will adults.

    Iman Velani who plays Kamala Khan is Exactly like her in real life. She is a lifelong Marvel fan of both the movies and the comics. And this is her first acting role ever!!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
    Just watch her on Jimmy Fallon, Trevor Noah and GMA. She truly is Kamala Khan, she even dressed as her for Halloween 3 years before she got the part.

    The fact that her parents are actually willing to compromise and dress up with her and make her a costume is actually kinda amazing and isn't talked about enough. They are actually trying to be supportive and engaging in her interests. I do get that she wanted some independence and her own time, but her shirking her parents' attempts to connect with her and reach a middle ground is also kind of sad, because I think as teens we often forget, especially with immigrant parents, how difficult it is for them to fit in as well and make a life for us. It's hard to really see that as a kid, but a perspective you kinda realize when you get older and become parents yourself. I also do get why her parents wouldn't want her out there at night in Jersey without some parental supervision.

    • @evelynd9240
      @evelynd9240 2 роки тому +6

      She's a 16 year old Pakistani girl wanting to hang out at night in Jersey... as constricting as the parents are, I can totally see the more practical side of why they would be wary.

    • @anonymes2884
      @anonymes2884 2 роки тому +2

      More broadly, what you forget as a teenager is just that your parents are people too - you see them as their role, not as human beings with their own flaws and fears that are also trying to navigate this complex, nuanced situation of you becoming an independent person.
      I totally get why Kamala blows up (at 16 the idea of going to something like that with your dad is arguably even worse than not going :) but they _were_ trying to compromise (albeit only after "favourite son" talked to them) so it's also easy to empathise with the hurt on her dad's face. The mother also seems to know more than she's letting on so as the show progresses I suspect we'll find out that her attitude is partly born of real fears based on actual experiences (as well as the more nebulous, arguably less justified "big bad world/cultural expectations" issues).

    • @night.josephine
      @night.josephine 2 роки тому

      I felt a bit bad for her dad tbh. I get why Kamala didn't want to do it but... still felt bad for him.

    • @Gafafsg
      @Gafafsg 2 роки тому +2

      Tbh these are the only people I’ve seen who didn’t agree with the parents actions. Most people have been very exited to see her dad wearing the Hulk costume, but not recognize how her parents forcing themselves into an event she wanted to go to with her friends who are also fans would obviously get on her nerves, and how her parents not willing to listen after she immediately took her words back is really kinda shitty.

    • @brandonmiles86
      @brandonmiles86 2 роки тому

      They're not that supportive. They're "engaging in her interests" is actually an extension of the fact that they don't trust her and aren't willing to give her any independence. She asked if she and Bruno could go, not her and her father. Also, they didn't even give her the courtesy of allowing her to choose her own outfit. Making her wear what she picked out and only allowing her to go with her father was very controlling. If they were that concerned with her safety, why not the father drop her and Bruno off and pick them up? I know her parents love her, but they are just as much fault here as Kamala is. Kamala should not have blown up at them though. She was wrong about that.

    Secret identities are the exception in the MCU, rather than the rule. It will be interesting to see if she keeps hers or is driven into the light as well. Right now it’s basically Daredevil, Spidey, and Kamala who have to maintain them. Everyone else’s face and name are known. Even the Guardians.
    Part of that is Scott, but I also bet the Guardians and Thor took a little while to blast off afterwards. A few days to get everyone together for Tony’s funeral, at least. And not bothering to hide themselves away.

    When you look at Kamala you see someone who is in her imagination rather then in the real world. It is easy to see why her parents do not entirely trust her decisions, especially her mother. The girl literally crashed 2 cars just taking her driving test, and then a couple of days later asks to go to a Con unescorted. How far would you trust someone to be mature and sensible after watching all the things Kamala does? She comes off closer to 13 then 16, IMO.
    When I look at 15 year old Peter in Homecoming and 16 year old Kamala in this, the maturity of the characters is night and day different. Peter was still young and inexperienced but he was not non-present to the world around him. I guess some of that is because Ms. Marvel is targeted to a younger audience. I like the show, especially the cultural and societal aspects of it, but I would have preferred a more Homecoming approach.

      It's not a put down. We mean it that since Kamala is a young character, the vibe of the show is younger. It may also do it to target a younger audience in the same age bracket as Kamala. By no means that its only made for kids. We watch animated shows like Clone Wars, Rebels, She-Ra and etc.

      Thank you! This is not a kid show, the only thing that’s a “kid show” is pbs kids or disney jr stuff, everything else is made for a broad audience. Yeah it might be more accessible to younger people then other shows but that doesn’t make it just for kids

    A little boring as a first episode, interesting choice to release only pilot episode but not two episodes from the start like other shows. Still I like what they're doing with this show. Targeting younger audience is clever on the long run.

    Did you guys find it odd to see some people cosplaying as guardians of the galaxy? I mean how would anyone know who they are?

      Rocket and nebula were working with avengers for the entirety of the blip and even tho the rest were only there for a small time, they were still present and around new Asgard at the end of endgame. Also they explained that scott langs podcast explained a lot of things other people wouldn’t have seen.
