Kenya thrives in mediocrity and sycophancy. One sane individual cannot anaylse the economic importance of the SGR without discussing the contract for SGR which the Courts ruled as an illegality from the onset: flawed procurement. The Chinese in collaboration with the “deep state system” did viability study, feasibility studies, designed the SGR, are supervising themselves, financed the railway, are operating it, and maintaining it. Kenya SGR is 560km at Kshs 480 Billion (Speed 120and 80km/h for passenger and Goods, diesel driven, ends in Suswa Naivasha). Tanzania SGR is 1467km from Dar-es-Salaam, Morogoro, Dodoma, Makutopora to Mwanza on Lake Vitoria) at Kshs 550Billion, largely financed by taxpayers ( Electric, 120km/h and 140km/hr, 80% unskilled Tanzanians employed and 40% of Skilled workers are Tanzanians). In summary corruption and poor implementation of investment, laws are slowly killing Kenya’s competitive advantage. Uganda will follow the Tanzania SGR, Ethiopia with plans to extend it’s railway to South Sudan is quietly walking away from the LAPSET project, they already have an electric railway linking them to Djibouti, which is planned to be Africa’s second-largest port after Durban, South Africa. The Uganda oil pipeline has gone to Tanzania. Yet our politicians after getting huge pay, trading with Kenya’s borrowed Kshs 6.3 Trillion and want to earn a pension of 100k equivalent for the rest of their lives are busy singing 2022. We are busy singing in 2022, then we will sing in 2027! Jehovah, Allah, Vishnu, and gods of our ancestors wake Kenyans up.

    I have learnt that:
    1. The SGR is a disruptor like Uber n MPesa, the status quo changes and the old players have to adapt or die.
    2. The govt should do more to mitigate the effect of job losses esp for truck drivers like giving them training of new skills.
    3. Some jobs will be lost forever and there's nothing we can do about it. Eg hotels and lodges that catered to drivers...the sooner they convert to rentals etc the better
    4. Naivasha is a great idea but it needs to be more competitive so that Uganda & the rest of EA come on board. TZ is doing a good job on its port so we need to scale up.
    5. The govt should be clearer on the cost of this project.
    6. The govt should ensure that the effect of the SGR trickles down to the common mwananchi

SGR will develop more towns than trucks
Also we need not to forget there are people whom are employed there
SGR is reducing the amount of accidents caused by trucks
SGR is reducing traffic congestion in our roads
    SGR is safer to use
In every good idea and innovation there is always a negative side effects but when you look at it in two different angles the negative impacts is less compared to the positive impact.

The rich have read this document well and the poor "rich" with no clue are selling off their lands only to regrate later that when the Railway passes on their former ancestral lands. County Governments stands to benefit more. Governors must pick their development plans from this vision and the whole country will move in the same development direction. Don't wait for the National Government to awaken you.. strategize by creating Sovereign county laws before the GOK knocks on your door.
