Can you imagine how many people told them they "suck and to give up cause nobody will like this type of music"? Animal Collective is that type of band that may take weeks, months, even years to appreciate certain works, but once it clicks...my God. The music is so complex that it simply does not get stale, and certainly does become transcendent. Even albums like Centipede HZ, which most didn't like (and neither did I at first), have become classics in my mind. The complexity unfurls and just makes you want more. Sorry for the long rant. Completely agree and I wish people would do this more with music in general. Animal collective helped me give many, many other artists and styles of music a chance. There are many albums I disliked by animal collective at first before clicking, which is the best thing I've experienced in music, especially Spirit, Hollinndagain, Person Pitch, Down There, and many others. Perhaps it has made me more open minded with music, or perhaps everything sounds so different because their music has changed my perception of sounds and what you can do with them to make music. It has changed my love for music forever. I truly believe they expand a person's willingness to explore. But I can't explain how much ive come to love every single song these guys have written. even years later, after listening to them over and over, I still find myself listening to them every single day.

So since those loops are premade and can't be tuned, the guitars have to be tuned to the loops. it's not out of tune in any tradional whole step/half step kind of way...we're talking microtonally out of tune after years of not being professionally tuned."
