  • This tutorial is a combination of several methods I've looked at to make mascara and eyeliner. I was out of both and did not want to buy toxic cosmetics or pay crazy prices for organic ones.

You guys can also use different mascara wands to get different lengthening effects. I learned that the makeup producers (like benefit, Mac, covergirl, etc.) not only focus specifically on the formula of the mascara but also the wand because the way it applies plays a big part in how it looks. I recommend using the mascara wand belonging to your favorite mascara. It makes it look that much better.

It is just almonds that I toasted until they were black in a skillet on my stove. Then I crushed then to a powder.

when I clicked on this video I was freaking out because you were saying that you were putting HONEY near your eyes, which I though could NOT be healthy. However, then I looked it up, and, on a credible website, from a doctor, it said (when mixed correctly, in a 20% mixture) honey eye drops relieve dry eyes, which is awesome!

If you melt coconut oil and use that in place of the olive oil, it will be more gel like. :) also, do you have any suggestions on what to use instead of almond ash?? I have friends who are highly allergic. thanx :)

One can collect the soot from a castor oil and almond oil lamp and use that. Mix with Shea butter for texture and camphor for cooling effect. Ancient Indian eyeliner used for centuries.

That turned out pretty nicely; I love the idea of putting on make up that won't make my face worse. I'd be afraid to use the honey, except maybe on very cold winter days, because I'm afraid it might draw bees (and I can't have that!), but the olive oil or maybe even canola oil or something that wouldn't draw anything but still wouldn't hurt me like those chemicals might work. I just saw a video of one lady lighting an almond held by tweezers (that you will only use for _that!_), and collected the ashes. I actually like that idea, if I can rest assured I'm not putting carcinogens on my eyes (don't know if it would turn the almond toxic; maybe it's the same thing, just different approach to getting it to that point).

Where I live almonds are quite expensive...$13-15.00 per pound. Whereas 1 bottle of activated charcoal capsules costs just a few dollars. Unless you are roasting the almonds and accidentally burn them, this seems like a terrible waste of nutricious (& expensive) food.

I have used it for 6 months now and is almost gone. I tend to leave my make up in the car so over the summer months it would get pretty warm. It actually gets easier to apply when warm. Now that it's cooling down it is harder to apply because it gets harder as it cools.

plz don't use coco powder near your eyes it can make your eyelashes fall out and if it's not processed correctly in the factory it'll have fine bits of the cocoa shells in it that can lacerate your eyes . what you can do instead is, brown the almonds to the color you want and then crush them. I suggest using a mortar and pestle to grind them to a soft fine powder.

Almond ash does not promise particle sizes that are safe for around the eyes - you can scratch the cornea (I researched this in depth with almond and activated charcoal). You really are better off getting black oxide mineral powder for this. Yes, it's dirt but hey dirt or ash, kinda the same thing.

Since this is homemade & without preservatives, I wouldn't use it past 3 months. Every time you put your mascara brush back into the product, you introduce more & more bacteria to the mixture. And since this recipe uses nuts, the mixture going rancid is highly likely.

  • @iamtruth65

Is this a sticky product, or does the Kohl somehow counteract that? I would hate to be sitting in conversation and ( The south can get hot, y'all) suddenly the drippings seep into my contacts; blackening them, making me appear possessed and off my meds.... Or another scenario in which my eyelashes decide to plaster themselves to the top of my eyelid; giving me a continuous look of fright, as if I were a doe in the headlights. ...
So yeah, is this sticky and will it melt off in subtropical climates?
... And sorry for the rambling. :P

Lol no its not sticky the mascara drieson ur eyelashes like any normal mascara and the eyeliner if u add g-u-m beeswax (braces bees wax from a drugstore) it will harden a little more and dry so it doesn't smudge as much. hope this helped!

***** store bought almond oil would have contained nasty oils and pesticides (environmental estrogens). Since some nuts are GMO you may not be allergic to nuts as you think. You may want to put an organic almond on your skin to check.. many learn that is the case.. it's the toxins in the lotion, and the inorganic nuts that cause the allergic reaction
