- Ok throw me to the Pro Audio Wolves!
Here is a snapshot solo’d drums via @parkertozier using mostly all @warmaudio new WA-19s ( 6 in total) This is WA recreations of one of the worlds most famous Beatles dynamic microphones AKG D-19. It’s a real session not staged or I’ve had some Cat play soft…
Real deal recording no polite drums here.
I’ll be taking a technique from the era of only micing bottoms & flipping # bottom Tom’s and snare. When used with OHs mono or stereo not flipped it’s a massive old school sound. Speaking of! almost every record I make I use WA-67s Bonzo Zep styles and yes I added into a Beatle Vs Zep Mashup Ha.
Haters beware No Fs given because this Video is dedicated to all the Cats that can only afford Guitar Center to Sweetwater budgets to make Art.
MVPs @analogrofficial @audioscapeaudio as I used their BA-6A w WA19 on kick shammed into / WA19s OH into AS78s and I forgot to mentions Tom’s into AS 260 VU stereo optical compressor.
Enjoy.

Love Ya Brother and your the reason I’m here doing these Mofo❤
Miking only bottoms flipped w a overhead mono or stereo so insane sounding
Thanks for sharing and taking the time to explain
Appreciated you tuning in G!
Love this drummers style
Totally ⚡️✔️🎯
Really like these videos. Never paid much attention to the Beatles recording techniques, so this gives some new perspective on stuff. Thanks Manny 🙌
Thanks Ulf!
Was looking into getting an original after being a little obsessed with your mega dynamic mic video (hoping for a ribbon mic follow up 😇) but was quickly deterred by the insane prices haha. So stoked they made a reproduction that’s affordable and sounds awesome. Great stuff as always manny.
I think this is a great work Horse mic 100%
Hope you dig this mayhem!
Entire mic-mayhem dug! I wonder if the Warm D19 capsule could be used to repair a dead original D19? The Type 74-B is a great sounding mic. I saw a tear-sheet (likely from the 50's) and the price for the Type 74B was $43.50. In today's inflated dollars, that would be about $600.
Psyched for a a/b warm vs. vintage comparison! Can’t wait to watch this one though! Thanks for making it!
Thanks for sharing and thrilled you enjoyed 🎯
Clay from Boulevard just posted that video.
@@adee2569 Thanks! Saw that already. Good video!
Wonderful information, that sound is wicked good
Thrilled you enjoyed J! ✊🏾⚡️🎯
Phenomenal sound Manny, thats wicked. Such a cool setup. Thanks very much Manny for this great video. I'm learning a hell of a lot with your mic Technics. Cheers man
U Da Man Joey✔️
Dude, that sounds super rad, it would have been really cool to hear them individually, especially that side kit, and before/after compression too! But really frickin cool drum sound man!
I will be doing a full mix breakdown soon my man!
Great video, brother, I’ve been waiting, because I knew you were definitely going to do a video on these new warm microphones. I would definitely love to see you throw these on a kit with something much more rocking though. Just to see how they sound when you blast them with some SPL. 🙌🏻🤩
More to come! I have a few Banger LPs coming up.
@@mannysmiclocker hell yeah!! I would love to see a demonstration of your typical kick drum micing, with the 6…WA 19’s , on the snare, toms and a spaced pair of overheads!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
That’s a great idea ;)
Groovy tones bro -- those WA-19s look pretty sweet.
Thanks for tuning and and yea I totally used them on a real LP
I think I saw a D-19 in a movie named Goldfinger. It was used in an airplane.
Now I gotta look that up ✔️
My interest was piqued when they were first announced, this is a great demo! Seconding an A/B comparison of the OG’s if possible.
I have a few old ones, but I don’t think these match up in the sense of the vintage sound but the work horses and compress really well with good fidelity. I feel I can use them in the exact same way as the vintage ones with killer results and that’s the bottom line.
Thanks Manny!
There he is ;)
Great video! I'm very curious about those WA19's. The $200 price sure is better than what people charge for an AKG. I'd love to see a side by side camparison between vintage and clone if you can pull it off.
Yeah, I have some real ones but at the time I was just doing a record so I didn’t AB but honestly I think they’re a great dynamic they get the job done. I’ll do a comparison sometime in the next month or so for sure.
Please do if you can , I don’t doubt they are decent mics but if they are sold as d19c clones then I’d like to see how close they are
Thanks Manny, I love the Warm mics, they're popular here in England, I really want to try a Fet Jr. May I ask, have you got skins on the bottom of the toms?
Yes and that’s a good question as in the old days concert Tom’s your mic bottom and has no skins 😂
Great video Manny. How do you like the warm wa19s versus your akg d19s? How different are they to a shure sm57?
They don’t sound anything like a shure 57 or 58 but I will say they sound really unique kind of like the originals. There is something to be said about the sound of the originals, but I think for someone making a brand new mic that can be used in almost all the same ways as the original and it delivered a sound I was familiar with. I didn’t set up a test video because I wanted to use them on a real record with a real band and I did the results were no regrets. I dug it.
@@mannysmiclocker Thanks Manny. That’s great to know your experience with them is positive compared with your original D19s. Also good to know they’re different enough from a 57. Both used in the same applications as a general purpose dynamic mic. Appreciate your expertise.
the ringo side snare is kinda a reverse glyn johns no?
Wowza possibly Ha never looked at it that way . Thanks
The side mic was usually to the right of floor tom on Beatles stuff 67 onwards but this sounds interesting too.
and no processing. dang, sounds really good
Well i was slamming in hardware not plugins to be fare ,)
@@mannysmiclocker haha that occurred to me moments after I commented! I'm so used to the confines of mixing ITB so its easy for me to forget

Really?!
