    Hey there! Here is the batteries buyers guide. It looks simple but has taken a fair amount of time to make and I am updating and adding to it all the time. I just started adding the recommended settings so they are easy to find and will add it for all of them soon.

    I bought one of these in the "essentials" model in May of this year. Shipping was fast so no problems with that. When it comes to service though, that is where it ended. Yes, even after watching hours of videos, we are total newbies regarding solar setups. But when I emailed Epoch with what should have been a simple question I got zero response. NOTHING. I emailed 3 times. I looked on their website for who knows how long for an answer, but there were no instructions at all for the "essential" model, only for the upgraded model, with the on/off button. I went to their RV Facebook page for "instant answers" and posted several times there. A few other RV owners tried to help, but still, NOTHING from Epoch. This made me feel like they thought my questions were either too stupid to answer or they didn't care to bother themselves. Some said to call, but I wanted answers in writing. I can't say too much about the battery itself. I haven't used it enough yet. Hopefully, we won't have problems because it is obvious that I can't expect any service from Epoch. This may be a great battery (only time will tell) but we will never buy from them again.

    Nice battery but the full charge voltage issues make it a big pain in the butt for many and make Victron coms basically unusable unless you lower the dvcc to 13.8. Also they charge an arm and leg for shipping and taxes so its a $2000.00 battery eve with coupons. Too bad you never reviewed the sunfunkits batteries their integration works perfect no warnings or charging issues.

    I am running 2 of these batteries with a Victron Multiplus 2 system in my GD Reflection 5th wheel. It runs the AC for hours! The tech support says to set absorption at 13.9 and float at 13.4. If you go above that for absorption, it will go into charge shut down. That is not a problem, but we’ll keep your battery from balancing.

    • @Foxfried
      @Foxfried 26 днів тому

      It also has 8 cells which show up as 4, Panbo said balancing will become a problem with this battery in the future.

      @@Foxfried I am a retired engineer with a BS in electronic engineering. I had already run across these issues and contacted Epoch tech support. They recommended the settings that I had already come to from my testing. Two months of cycling and testing and no problems. Just keep the absorption voltage below the point when the charging MOSFET’s turn off (charge protect) so the cells balance. I expect that these batteries will be good for as long as any of the other batteries.

    The victron data cable gives information directly from the battery's bms, so it gets individual cell info and what not vs the shunt is basic current and voltage. Great information though! I'm getting one myself

    I bought two of these 460s with the communications. Putting into a Class A with a Victron Quattro 3000 2x120. It has taken a while but I love them!! Also I set mine at 13.9 absorption and 13.5 float.

    Wow Jared. Nice information you’ve shared with us. 3 years ago I bought four Ampere Time 200 amp hr batteries for nearly the same price as two of these Epoc 460s would be. But wow! Have these babies got features - holly smokes. Although the Ampere Time (now called LiTime) have been flawless in our full time RV living (with lots of boondocking) should I need new batteries today, I’d definitely look at these babies you introduced today. Thank you for you battery buying guide. It along with Will’s guide is awesome stuff for everyone.

    I just replaced 2 Renogy 200ah batteries with one Epoch Essentials 460ah. My battery came with a data sheet that shows 14.2v for Float. I see you have it at 13.8v. When I received the battery I charged it to 100% and installed it in my Class A motorhome. I turned on the Magnum MS-2012 Inverter and ran my 110v Whirlpool 3-door residential fridge for 30 hours solely off of the battery. After 30 hours it was at 40% SOC which is great. By the way one of my Renogy batteries failed after 2.5 years and they refunded the purchase price. Buying the Epoch was on $200 more for more than twice the amp hours.

    What issues do you have to deal with adding batteries in parallel with other brand batteries or different wattage ratings or is this not recommended? Secondly, have you come to a decision on an alternator charging setup to charge the batteries while driving yet? Can't wait to see that video Jared.

    I'm curious about the lower voltage. I have a older lead acid system and I have been planning on slowly changing all the parts to lithium capable with the batteries being the last. I heard that the batteries are the trick due to the higher voltage, but with this lower voltage battery I'm curious if this could drop into a lead acid system?

    If you can set the battery to pylon communications the victron system should be able to communicate with it like most batteries and inverters can communicate with pylon and I know victron can read pylon but most other systems dont like to communicate with victron protocol. Can you mix batteries if you connect them separately to your Lynx distributor? I have been shopping for another RV and found one that has a large battery bank of a different manufacturer. I was wondering if I could increase the battery bank by adding in my Epoch batteries.
