This is both outrageous and understandable
I love it
Love it too.❤
Love it three!
It’s outrageous! It’s unfair.
Agreed every Star Wars movie has the wrong title, he right it should go
1. The Rise Of Skywalker
2. Revenge Of The Sith
3. Attack Of The Clones
4. Return Of The Jedi
5. The Force Awakens
6. The Last Jedi
7. The Empire Strikes Back(this one is debatable though)
8. A New Hope
9. The Phantom Menace
Well really I should be like this
1. The Rise Of Skywalker
2. Attack Of The Separatists
3. Reveal Of The Hidden Sith Lord
4. Rise Of The Rebellion
5. Jedi In Training(Luke trains with Yoda on dagobah)
6. Redemption Of The Jedi(Not Return Of The Jedi)
7. Rise Of The First Order
8. The Last Jedi(this name is possibly accurate because Luke is the last Jedi)
9. The Last Skywalker(Palpatine quotes this in the film)
Actually the name "Return of the Jedi" doesn't mean the Order. It means the return of THE Jedi, Anakin Skywalker, The Chosen One.
So it should be return of a Jedi
@@hellfirecannon66 Well, if that were the case, it wouldn't be specific. Which Jedi are they referring to? Luke, Anakin, Yoda, Obi-wan, etc. And also the double meaning of the title wouldn't make any sense since it obviously refers to a person.
@@CJ_1406 Return of Anakin to the Jedi
That's true, for example "the" in portuguese has two forms, one for singular and another for plural. The plural form would be used for the order, but it is used in the singular, which means it refers to one person. I think it is valid to accept this since the title translation needed to be approved by LucasFilm back in 83.
By the way, the Brazilian title is "O retorno do jedi". If you reading this speaks a language that has singular and plural articles, leave here how it is called in your country
@@LeLNascimento in french, "le retour du jedi", singular
Aside for Attack of the Clones being named Revenge of the Sith this is shockingly accurate.
Not really, the Sith haven’t fully come out of hiding, and their revenge was not even completed, it’s called of attack of the clones because the clones attack on Geonosis

"Come on guys-"
? U mean Bright screen transition?
Funny how Episode I, the first one chronologically in the franchise changes it's name with Episode IX, the last one in the franchise so far.
9 episodes in the Star wars franchise? I thought there were only 6
The sequel trilogy doesn't count
The reason the Phantom Menece is named like that for episode 1 is that it's referring to Palpatine. How he doesn't reveal himself towards the Jedi and uses his sith identity in secret
Yes, that's exactly why this person used it for Episode 9, because Palpatine had supposedly been behind everything from the start like a puppet master, a phantom menace in the shadows. If they didn't realise it referred to Palpatine they wouldn't have used it for 9
@@Keanineexcept Palpatine announced himself to the galaxy.

Dang he’s got a point there
No he doesn't. No offense
Rots refers to the fact the sith were near extinct according to the jedi now the nedi are near extinct post order 66
Phantom menace refers to the person manipulating everybody in the background and how palps got into office
The attack of the clones is honestly not a great name in my opinion but the clones attack genonosis and join the war
New hope is litterally referring to Luke joining the rebels a new hope not necessarily a return of the jedi as some would argue hope isn't necessarily a victory and hope is a fighting chance.
The empire did strike back and win so why would that name be wrong they won the rebels won in a new hope but the empire shows they still are in control and straight up won
Return of the jedi was a pre Disney name back when the jedi could finally return from hiding because empire is crumbling.
Force awakins is basically marry sue joins battle
Last jedi is referring to Luke breaking charater and wanting jedi dead despite. It going against everything he ever stood and being like all jedi should be gone which doesn't make sense even if Luke doesn't want to be the hero he knows that either he let's the bad guys win or not and the jedi are kind of useful when deleting sith lords
And rise of skywalker should just have a new name entirely because Luke's dead Ben's dead palps grand kid who was made with Luke's hand DNA (that's actually cannon Luke's DNA was used to make Rey so technically the Rey x kylo is incest)
@@somedorkydude6483 rise of Skywalker rey changes her last name to Skywalker it makes sense

Where the petition?
i agree
The clones also attacked in attack of the clones, and the sith actually got revenge in revenge of the sith. Also in 1977 we didn't know what jedi were.

Or its just that all the themes stretch across all the movies so much that many titles could be made to work for several movies.
The titles are super vague, thats why
@oliver-04 not really. Episode 1, the first sith appears after a thousand years of peace and sets forth everything: The Phantom Menace.
Episode 2, the clones are made and are part of the first major attack against the separatists and start the clone wars in action: Attack Of The Clones.
Episode 3, after years of manipulation, the sith overtake everything in the biggest way possible like a revenge against the jedi who almost made them extinct so long ago: Revenge Of The Sith.
Episode 4, a new force sensitive appears and could be the key to standing against the empire: A New Hope.
Episode 5, after being defeated the last time, the empire strike back in a bigger more serious way against the rebellion: The Empire Strikes Back.
Episode 6, in the last great battle against the empire, Luke along with the spirit of the jedi itself within him(metaphorically)return to end the empires reign once and for all: Return Of The Jedi.
Episode 7, the force calls to a new person to stop the first order: The Force Awakens(there is some nostalgia in that title too because it was many years since Star Wars has been on the big screen).
Episode 8, in the end, Rey is supposedly the last jedi: The Last Jedi(this is just to push the "importance" of Rey).
Finally, episode 9, in the end of it all, supposedly the spirit of the Skywalker family tree rise within Rey: The Rise Of Skywalker(pushing the dumb Rey thing again and doesn't even make sense because Skywalker is more literal here because she literally proclaims herself as Rey Skywalker!).
Some of these titles are more metaphorical or poetic than literal, which is what the guy in the video didn't understand. Though, this is probably more of a joke video, but with so many people going crazy about and indirectly pushing their fan theories and headcanons, it's hard for me to know who is taking their stuff seriously or not.
Plus, the issue of unintentional misunderstanding and unintentional misinformation might be a problem too because most people won't be as into this stuff as diehard fans. Sorry for the long ass comment, but I felt it needed to be said.
Episode 9 had themes?
@@DbleOohWoo7 It had a theme tune
@william3100 uh. The subtitles are based in b movie style. It's Hammer film titling, something Lucas was so into he casted one of the Hammer Frankensteins ti play Vader and Tarkin played Victor in every movie but the failed reboot

Yes before Disney took over and scrapped the EU he was the new hope that restored the Jedi order. Since Disney made the rebel alliance like 90% Jedi and ruined Luke character that isn't really a thing anymore. Like for real between Ezra, Ahsoka, Kanan ETC the rebel alliance had like hundreds of 'former' jedi in their ranks making Luke kind of subpar.
@@empireofengland6039 It’s called a New Hope because she begs Obi-Wan Kenobi to help her, saying “You’re my only Hope.” But Luke comes along and is revealed to be a NEW Hope.

Episode II - Revenge of The Sith
Episode III - Attack of The Clones
Episode IV - Return of The Jedi
Episode V - The Force Awakens
Episode VI - The Last Jedi
Episode VII - The Empire Strikes Back
Episode VIII - A New Hope
Episode IX - The Phantom Menace
Love how Episode I and Episode IX switched titles.
Technically the original names for Episodes 2 and 3 were correct, because order 66 was the doing of the Sith, the entirety of Episode 3 was a revenge plot, and Episode 2, well we meet the clones for the first time ever, so it is all about the clones, not the sith.
And "The Phantom Menace" refers to Darth Maul and the quiet yet present threat of the Sith, who are suddenly returning after who knows how long. They were like, say, a _phantom?_
"A New Hope" refers to Luke Skywalker choosing to become a Jedi, and then destroying the Death Star. In doing so, he became a new symbol of hope for the rebellion and the galaxy.
In "The Empire Strikes Back", the Empire does exactly that. It triumphs greatly over the rebellion after the loss of the Death Star in the previous movie.
"The Return of the Jedi" is directly referring to Anakin Skywalker's return to the light side.
"The Force Awakens" refers to how the force is suddenly awakening within Rey and guiding her to the path of the Jedi.
"The Last Jedi" refers to how Rey ends up being the last living jedi in existence by the end of the movie. Also, Kylo Ren and Luke Skywalker both say it outright.
"The Rise of Skywalker"... honestly, I feel like this is the only title that doesn't really fit the movie.
@@darckap2785 Well we don't know if Rey is truly the LAST Jedi by that point. Ahsoka, Grogu, and Cal Kestis could still be alive. Grogu most likely is still alive by this point. (He'd only be in his late 60s-early 70s by then)

I agree with the logic. In my opinion, though, Attack of the Clones sounded more like a working title that you come up with before you have a finished product. And it describes the final act, which we had to watch a lot of boring shit to get to. Shroud of the Dark Side might've worked because 1). It describes an underlying threat in the background, and 2). A character says it in the movie.
Yes but it would be the phantom menace but with different words

Nah, I liked the Kamino exploration, and also the politics to lead the republic into war is as interesting. Plus the whole mystery of Ani’s mom’s disappearance to their eventual final meetup is just great. 😢
Episode 2: The Clone Conspiracy (most of Obi-Wan's plot)
Episode 2: The Human Animal (it's the most "humans doing stupid human things and making things worse", you've got humans being raised as war cattle, the Tusken plot, it works on multiple levels)

Honestly true
I think the hardest would be Attack of the Clones. Any movie past the prequels would make sense to have the title because Boba Fett was the only clone left
Star Wars: The Last Clone
The Empire Strikes Back doesn't work for 1-4, the first three for obvious reasons and the fourth for "Back". A New Hope doesn't work for 2 (everything gets worse), 3 (ditto), 5 (ditto), or 6 (the hope is old now). The Phantom Menace doesn't work for Episode 3 (to steal a joke from Last Angry Geek, more like Damn Obvious Assault). The Last Jedi doesn't work for Episode 1 (there are many Jedi) or 2 (ditto) and doesn't quite work for 3 (Obi-Wan or Yoda but the fact there's an or here kinda ruins it). The Rise of Skywalker doesn't work for Episode 3 or 5 (both of which involve a Skywalker falling, whether to the Dark Side or quite literally as well as "in battle"). Return of the Jedi doesn't work for 3 because... yeah. Revenge of the Sith doesn't work for 6 because... yeah, but also doesn't really work for 8 (Revenge of the Luke more like). Attack of the Clones works for 2/9 movies. The Force Awakens doesn't really work for 2 (The Force being clouded is a very major plot point) or 3 (most Force users die).

Episode 2 Attack of the Clones: the story is focusing on palpatine revealing to be a Sith and he wants revenge on the Jedi and the new Republic.
Episode 3 Revenge Of The Sith: Darth Sidious executed order 66, the Clones begin their attack on the Jedi.

I always thought if they'd named Ep. VII "The Spirit of the Force," you'd have A) done a thematic callback to Ep. I, and B) becomes a linguistic bit of foreshadowing and/or an in-joke, in tribute to the Japanese cinematic influences of Star Wars.
The only one I agree on is that EP 9 could've been called The Phantom Menace.
This…actually works really well. Wel done.
Darth Maul was the Phantom Menace.
The Clones Attacked on Geonosis as their combat introduction -Attack Of The Clones
The Sith have returned and won the clone wars - Revenge Of The Sith
A New Hope has risen in Luke.
The Empire Struck back by destroying Echo Base on Hoth.
The Jedi, Anakin Skywalker in the last moments, Returned. -Return Of The Jedi
The Force Awakens within a new jedi.
The Last Jedi was Luke as he had returned once more.
Rey (for no reason) had claimed the title of Skywalker - Rise Of Skywalker
It make so much sense it's killing me
They really should have done this to begin with.
yeah but the titles are too obvious about the main plot
Revenge of the sith definitely makes much more sense for episode 3 since the sith are actively enacting their plan of revenge in that movie. Attack of the clones is meant to be a plot twist name of sorts since the point of that plot line in the movie is to make you think the clones are going to attack the republic at first until they end up actually working for the “good guys.”
"The ability to speak does not make you intelligent."
I've always loved how Episode II is called Attack of the Clones, yet the clones attack for like... ten minutes, tops.

RotJ: Vader *returns* to the light side
TFA: -Mary Sue- Rey learns how to use the force
TLJ: Rey is the last Jedi by the end of the film
RoS: Ngl Phantom Menace does work better than Rise of Skywalker
luke: im the last jedi. grogu and ashoka: you sure about that?

It was a fake name used while shooting so that people wouldn’t know which movie was shooting- to keep publicity away. Films do it all the time.
Personally, I would call Episode 2 'The Phantom Menace' because it's the most conspiracy themed as they're investigating an unseen threat. Meme answer aside, Palpatine being a hidden Sith Lord disguised as the Chancellor of the galactic federation while pulling strings behind the scenes with two apprentices (Dooku and Maul) to start a galactic war is likely to be the reason for the title.
Or,
Anakin being recognized and recruited by the Jedi as the “Chosen One” when we all know he ends up betraying the Jedi and becoming Darth Vader is also a possibility.
The Sith were believed to be dead so they're phantoms
The Empire Strikes Back is the perfect name for Episode V, though. The Empire lost in the previous film, and this film shows them striking back at the Rebellion.
