We are simply going LIVE on Sunday morning and whatever happens happens.... we are new to all of this because of COVID-19. We are a traditional "older" church and this world event has forced us into the 21st century. I am a younger pastor 32, but I am not tech savvy and this has been a struggle for me. Thank you for posting these videos and the help you are giving to help spread the gospel in the most clear platform available.

We're pre-recording everything...music, communion prayers, sermon, etc. I then edit in Premeire Pro and upload the final on our website and Facebook. The response has been great.

We are currently actually live with a 2 minute delay for our 9:15am service - on Facebook, our app and website. For the 10:45 service, we push out our 9:15 recording. With Living As One - our stream provider they have a Sim Live function where you can push out the last video streamed - at anytime. Quite handy.

We're a small church (+/- 50 people each week) so keeping it _really simple_. True live-stream to youtube, using OBS on a laptop with external camera and line-in from a small analogue mixer (2 mics for presenters, and mp3 player for music). Also using another laptop to see the live chat and incorporate responses as we go (e.g. reading suggested scriptures etc). Thus far we've just used pre-recorded music; may move on to some live music (probably just guitar, backing track + 2 vocals) in the next couple of weeks, but we'll see how we go on that one. Learning more about OBS as we go along, which is helping increase the production quality. Got some reasonable 3-point studio lighting this week to help make the video a whole heap better. Pre-recorded service was never really on the cards for us - the interactivity is part of what makes us "us", so the ability to have the feedback from the dispersed congregation was an important factor. Using OBS we could send out a window capture of the song lyrics and, potentially, use "green screen" tech to have guitarist sit in front of the corner of the screen, recreating more of our in-person experience. It's been fun learning this tech - not something I'd ever even considered less than 3 weeks ago. :)

I'd love to see your set up. This is the first time our church has live-streamed. I think we will continue after the quarantine and would like to see what others are doing.

Hey @@JackGilbertJr Check out our church's channel - ua-cam.com/channels/ApMO2IJ6FgvYLKnQ2CO2kw.html I had a few tech issues this morning (that a reboot would have fixed, but a bit tricky once you're into the livestream), so excuse the obvious production errors on today's broadcast. It'll give you a fairly good idea but if you have any particular questions about what's going on behind the camera (and there is only one webcam), do feel free to contact me via the church's wsite.

Jake, thanks as always for sharing your experience! We’re totally in lockdown in many places so we are using a pre-record and Facebook Premiere so everyone is on hand engaging in comments. We’re a campus of 60 people in Cape Town, SA with 20 other locations worldwide so we get preach content from our central location alongside notices and testimony from around the world. Each location records their own notices and we stitch it all together then premiere it in each location separately.
We’ve spent most of our effort in creating an online experience. Everything is shared with a link shortener url and we even have a welcome team ready to chat and use Facebook Page Messenger to have 1:1 chats with guests.
Love seeing what everyone is coming up with in this season. Nothing can stop the Gospel.

We're doing a kind of both. We're a relative small german church (250-300 people). We have an old good tradition, that everyone in the service, who want to recite something, like a poem, song, testemony, he or she will have room in the service.
In the Corona time, this is a little bit tricky, but we have a solution! The people can record themself at home, send it to us, then we will playback it in the service, and also we have live music and live preaching. This works really good.

We record our services, devotions and talk shows during the week. We use 3 cameras, a Blackmagic design switcher, ATEM control software and record audio seperately using Audacity because the embedded audio on the SSD/Hyperdeck shuttle usually has a buzzing sound or is delayed. We edit using Premier Pro, then premier our services on both our UA-cam and Facebook platforms. UA-cam allows one to premier videos only in 15min intervals, so in order to have our service premier at exactly the same time on both Facebook and UA-cam we have a countdown of 15 minutes before actually service time where we include worship and promotional material in the countdown period.
Previous to this we hired out an Intensity Shuttle so we could have LIVE services during the Lockdown but our Internet\(LTE) failed us. But I'm excited to say that we installed fibre this week at speeds of 50Mbps Up/Down so running a simulated LIVE services shouldn't be a hassle. We used OBS but will look definitley at E-cam and Restream for multistreaming. Thank you for this video, great content.

We started with live stream, but moved to Premier to eliminate bandwidth issues/human error, etc. We actually still use Ecamm Live to bring in remote participates (via the Skype interface) and easily mix it with our graphical content (e.g. sermon visuals, Bible passages, etc.). We may try simulated live stream again for the reasons you mention in the video. I love your idea of filming in different locations. Thanks for the great video!

Our church (Kempsville Christian Church, Virginia Beach) has been recording the services on Wednesdays in our building in as close to the same format as a normal Sunday morning service as possible with our worship team (slightly limited) and Pastor recording in separate sessions to minimize the number of people in total required at any one time. Then we would post the videos as Facebook and UA-cam Premiere videos along with live streaming the pre-recorded service through Vimeo. We were originally feeding the Vimeo stream to Facebook live but started running into issues reported by users of frequent drop outs on the Facebook and Vimeo streams. We switched to Premiere videos since we assumed that the FB and Vimeo Servers were probably being crushed by the number of churches currently running live events at the same time. Once we switched to Premiere videos we stopped receiving the frequent reports of the streams dropping out.
Overall we have a fairly good sized church but we are still relatively new to live streaming and have just been figuring everything out as we go. We have realized through this that we also desperately need an upgrade to our equipment and workflow for the actual live streaming of services. Currently we have just two cameras running into a Roland V-1HD along with a feed from our primary screen server for videos, graphics and lyrics. The output of that is then going into a Matrox Monarch HD video encoder/recorder... which usually does an okay job encoding the livestream and sending it directly to Vimeo. Except when it randomly overheats and drops the stream. Also we currently only have a single volunteer who does all of the video production work, camera operation, post production and live stream management every week... me.

I do a combination. Community Church Online is a linear program using Church Online Platform featuring a recording from the live that runs all week long. On CCI+ (subsplash app) contains the live stream and an on demand. The sermon is cut and put on like a program Sim-Live on Wednesday night called CCI At Home. The worship set is also cut and put into a "program" called Heart of Worship which sim-live on Sunday morning at 7 AM. The Sim-Live are on Facebook, UA-cam, CCI+, and Community Church Online. Full disclosure, I'm writing this from the future. As of April 2020, we were just doing a Live worship set followed by a Kids show Live from a different location, and then a prerecorded sermon (sim-live).

We haven't been able to adapt to live streaming at this point in time so what we do currently is basically set up a page that comes out every Sunday on our website. This is our latest one: burwoodbaptist.com.au/sunday-worship/sunday-5-april-2020/
It basically encourages people to watch through videos as they scroll down the page and participate. Thanks for all the good work you're doing Jake. Really appreciate this youtube channel offering all kinds of tech ideas for Churches.

We wanted to do this, but the time schedule was against us (we did not know of a possible lockdown at the time, lots of rumours and panic but no official word). So decided to design a "system" with Proclaim (ProPresenter is quite heavy on my machine), Skype (Pastor) and OBS. Hoping to pull this through this coming Sunday!

My home church has three language congregations and have three UA-cam channels. In the past few weeks we went from...plan to live stream our service to live streaming using OBS (combining our video feed and ProPresenter or PowerPoint)--very basic PIP; then live streaming as before (but without a congregation) present; then to pre-recorded (voice-overs of ProPresenter and PowerPoint); then to pre-recorded video (virtual worship team recording their instrument pieces from a common click track and mixing). We have a video of our worship leader with ProPresenter set on lower thirds. Sermon has video of our pastor with PowerPoint added in as a PIP all using OBS to produce the combine segments. Then we combine everything and load it to UA-cam as a Premier. The simulated live stream seems to add another dimension of complexity.
This week's challenge is getting two recorded services out: Good Friday and Easter!

Lyndon Christian Church in Louisville, KY is doing a simple simulated live stream. Prerecorded with one song, communion, prayer time, sermon, and announcements. All done in the Senior Ministers office with only one camera and two microphones. We're a small church with limited resources but managed to share our worship time with our congregation. It's not a slick production but it works for us.

I mix the audio that comes out of our x32 to Ableton w/ iMovie on Saturday and upload to UA-cam and the church Facebook group. We have a video from one of our leaders telling people to grab stuff for communion. That’s something that we do every Sunday. So many great ideas for churches on a budget and not only that but to give the Lord excellence! Man, I love it! I do just want to say maybe some day down the line, in the near future and maybe you've got this before but have you ever thought on maybe making a Churchfront en Español for the Spanish speaking community? Maybe you might have a Spanish speaking friend or something but man, I wish your videos were in Spanish for some of the folks over at my church so they could not only learn but understand the concept of media, production and mixing! Just a crazy idea (that you've probably heard before) that I know for sure would help so many other folks in different communities as well! Blessings my brother and keep up the great content!!

    Live.
We put all vido content into ProPresenter. That computer (a high-end iMac) also runs OBS which grabs the screen that goes to projection. We are currently using an iPhone 11 with the OBS-VirtualCam that plugs in with a standard iPhone USB cable. Our SoundCraft GB8 audio board takes the house mix and remixes each channel through an AUX channel. That audio goes to OBS via an M-Audio IO box. ProPresenter outputs to two projectors at each side of the 90-ft wide platform. We have four OBS scenes: 1) main camera (iPhone now), 2) main camera w/ ProPresenter PIP over the normal projection screens, and 3) ProPresenter. When we zoom in for the message we still have the projection showing in each upper corner. Our service stream flow right now is Splash Screen with logo (in OBS), Pre-service slides (ProPresenter from now on, updated for this situation), 5-min Countdown, Welcome/Announcements, Praise & Worship songs (full band), Offering, Message, Benedication, and back to Splash Screen. The OBS operator only has to begin the stream with logo, switch to Projection, switch to MainCam, switch to Offering Video, zoom for Message, switch to logo, end stream.
Although I’ve been doing audio and projection since the mid-eighties, I’m new to video and am learning. Just picked up on the VST Plugins and will be incorporating those to clean up our mixed audio. House audio is greatly affected by the worship center room. Streamed audio isn’t and sounds very different. It doesn’t get the noise gating, EQing, and compression that our house speakers do.
We intend to add an existing 1080p camera as the main, a video switcher, and a PTZ cam. In addition, we’ll be updating to ProPresenter 7 for the built-in capability to to multiple output screens (lower-thirds overlay to stream), and purchase a computer dedicated to OBS.

My pastor is using a nice Nikon and a couple iPhone 11s for the video. On Friday morning I hand my pastor the produced audio file and he combines it with the video in Adobe Premier. We've been cutting our team to the point that we can still go live but we are going to pre-recorded this Sunday. The biggest issue with our live stream was our upload speeds at church. Wed end up with close to 80% dropped frames.

Live stream. I have too much work on my plate to be editing later. We can meet on Sunday, but basically just the worship team, me (audio mixing) and up to 5 congregants total.

We are using Ecamm and Restream to go live. Our entire service is pre-recorded except we have a live host before, in the middle and after the service. The host welcomes people, gives announcements and encourages conversation at the end of the service. BUT, we have a separate prerecorded service with the host as a backup, just in case something goes wrong....

At first we have been showing past videos of preachings and worship with a pre recorded video shot and edited 15 or 20 mins before going live. The congregation sees the video as it were live but it was filmed mins before lol. Now we're actually going live during the services using two Elgato video captures because the Blackmagic Atem mini's are sold out 😭

It needs a countdown, UA-cam uses to start the stream 1 minute later and skip this minute.
Yes, we also discovered that WLAN isn't reliable enough to stream.

Jesus Movement I agree, there’s also less stress than having everything in order right up to going live. We record and prepare everything the day before.

We're recording on Saturday and premiering on Sunday Morning. We do not have the bandwidth to provide a quality live experience so this is the best way for now. I just need a better system for rendering. Been using DaVinci but my i5 is struggling and hangs.

Hey, Jake I appreciate how you are helping all us small churches. At The Rock A Christian Church Las Vegas we are a setup/teardown church as well and we currently are recording and posting the content to the channel. Question, do you have to set and bitrates or doe Ecamm and Restream do that? Thanks for the Hack and all the other awesome videos. Please keep it up, I know it has up me tremendously. May God continue to bless and keep you!

I just wanted to tell you, though you have heard it plenty of times, dopeeeee content! Means a lot and I appreciate the effort you have for putting out content to help everyone else out, especially in a time such as this. 1 small question. How do you go about sending audio out from your daw in to your video feed. The farthest I've been able to go has been from my XR18 in to Logic Pro x .

If you abandon the "Live" portion, you can pre-upload to both UA-cam and Facebook, and have it go public at an appointed date and time! Then you can upload at any period where networks are clear, and have a "broadcast" at your audiences expected time.
