1. He try to delay, tie the lace, clean the sweat... but take off the shoes? seriously?
2. She doesn't return the shuttlecock right after.
3. I heard my friend said that they (the players) complain about the shuttlecock's quality.
4. Wang Si xian ask for new shuttlecock but the opponent didn't want to. Then Wang Si Xian got a red card? I don't understand.
5. She shouted and affected the line judge, I think so.
Most red cards were given by time delaying.

4: I watched tht match live. Wang Si xian was tired in the 3rd set and continuously did these time delay tactics for a long time in between points and then Okuhara was given a point in the critical time. She brought in to herself. It was very clear that in the later half of the third set Wang zi was tired and was taking long breaks.

him406 the line judge from 3 looked like he was enjoying the tension. I mean seriously, why would he randomly straighten out or do whatever he was doing to that pocket? He was smiling the entire time too, a very smug smile.

Probably they are accustomed to football, where the players can allow themselves a lot of things without repercussions. Saying that as a football fan. (Not American football.)
@@bleekcer I know what you meant, cause in football (soccer) time wasting is one of the strategy and is used a lot probably too much, but same here in badminton too much time wasting can lead to yellow card too

I'd be fuckin pissed if I was Takahashi, too. She's serving at 12-15 and the shuttle lands clearly beyond the baseline and the blind line judge calls it in.
This isn't tennis. No international badminton line judge should EVER miss a baseline call on a clear that's left to drop. Even if a leg or foot is in the way, you have trajectory. If amateur players like myself can see a bird falling out before it's even begun its descent, by trajectory, then line judges sitting in one spot the whole match should have perfect eyes on that line by 12-15. You don't get to that level of officiating with bad judgment. Fire that line judge; they're obviously corrupt.

To everyone thinking that #5 is a player yelling out, it is not. It's Carolina Marin who screams like a banshee whenever she scored a point. Because of this, the line judges thought it was in when it was clearly out. But instead the other player received a yellow card for believing it was out when Carolina Marin'a screams said otherwise.

i know why they get the cards.
but to me its just unnecessary.
they are all at the top of badminton. they arent out of breath much. (which would be the only reason to give them a card).
and even if they were, the opponent would have the same chance of resting.
its not like football, where you play with a time limit.
@@suizidschlumpf2 nah, if you delay the games, other player momentum got disturb and rest too long also can increase mistake or strategy will not working properly for the player, eg: player want to do smash to gain a pts while the opponent still tired, but now he cant bcus.. other gain energy back

since i play badminton myself, my opinion is, that even IF there are downside for the opponent, they are too minor to mention.
like i said, they are pros. they could play 3 events if they wanted. no endurance issues what so ever.
and because they are pros, they can play any shot at any time. no matter if its 5 or 60 seconds between them.
@@suizidschlumpf2 It's not because one is a pro, then other players can disrespect you with this poor tricks which the only goal is to distract or disturb. So if you act silly in any way, to intentionally ruin your opponent's game (no matter if they are affected by it, it's irrelevant, what is relevant is the attempt to bother your opponent), you get a card, it's not difficult to understand, and it baffles me that a badmington player (or any other player in any other sport) can't grasp this little concept.
For disqualification or BLACK CARD:
When the umpire has to administer a flagrant or persistent breach of the relevant Laws by faulting the offending side and reporting the offending side immediately to the Referee with a view to disqualification, he calls the offending player to his side as in the RED CARD case and in addition he calls the Referee to inform him and if the Referee agrees and decides to disqualify the offending side, a BLACK CARD is given to the umpire (by the Referee).
2 yellow cards = 1 red card;
2 red cards = 1 black card
Then the player is disqualified and out of the match.

If I remember correctly, she called the shuttle out before it landed. This could affect line judge's judgement hence the yellow.
Sounded more like a cheer to boost confidence to me :/ Dont think it would've affected judge's judgement. From our angle it's clearly out, but who knows, maybe 1mm of the ball was on the line. :/

Nabil Aiman #1 its a delay tactic to break the opponent rhythm. you need to ask permission to tie your shoes. in this case he didnt. the he proceed to further time wasting after receiving the yellow card by going to his bench to wipe his sweat. conclusion, ask the empire permission or risk a card.

Yes, you don't see it often because we play to the spirit of the game and most umpires are fairly reasonable. Quite clearly there should be a neutral match referee to oversea if the umpire is acting within the spirit of the game as well.

What's weird to me about the first one is that for both cards, that umpire waited until he was done delaying and was actually ready to play, just to delay the game more by giving cards.

Carolina Marin is a great player and congrats to her for the Olympic gold and overcoming so many challenges to rise to the top of the women's game BUT, im sorry, I'm just not a fan. she just looks so annoyed the whole time plus what's up with the screaming every time she wins a point? im sorry, I usually will skip her match because she's not very pleasant to watch

I do suggest timer for players during serves...maybe 5 or 10 sec after every point..
I think now we have 30sec for serving
I think it should be dependent on the length of previous rally. At end of timer server has to serve within 3 seconds weather receiver is ready or not. If server fails - its automatic fault.
On my level i can shout as much as i want, since there are no judges to flag misconducts

The act of calling it out as it lands is itself grounds for the yellow card. It doesn't matter where it actually lands. You are not supposed to affect the line judge.

@@scootpoyo9734 You are allowed to argue in/out after a call has been made, not before or while the shuttle is falling. The player exalted before the line judge made a ruling. This is a clear infraction.

Marin is always good at annoying the opponents when she was trailing .

All red calls were apt and within rules. So hats off to the referees. Marin has a habit of getting too aggressive, starts screaming and then starts throwing tantrums which are borderline insult to her opponents. Being passionate is one thing but playing with sportsmanship is necessary to keep playing till one gets banned for the absence of it.
If all those were within the rules than I’m never watching an actual badminton match. This is the softest sport in the world

Umpire need to use the card wisely,because it is really effecting the momentum of the game. If he use it in final critical game in places like Indonesia,he going to create riot.
Many umpires are volunteers, not professional players. They're paid very little. So on a bad day, your attitude could be their problem.
