    Thanks for the great video. I replaced mine recently after my engine died going up the pass but I have noticed a less than desirable idle afterward. I hope this fixes my idle too.

    I have lean code on my 2003 Ford ranger both banks I changed fuel injector filter fuel pump spark plugs coil pack MAF IAT wires. My car can only crank but won't start. 50psi of fuel pressure and I got e85 in the fuel tank. I even ordered a custom fuel regulator to increase the fuel pressure because supposedly 60-65psi was suppose to be the spec and still couldn't get it to run.

      If I disconnect the IAC the car will run at very low RPM. I did a smoke test and didn't find any leaks

      Have you done a smoke test to make sure your upper intake is not cracked? I kept getting lean state errors on my truck until I replaced the ECU. I replaced everything like you did and still got errors and had issues.

    Sir I have a question for you I’ve got a 98 Ranger v6 4.0 OHV and I’m looking at a 99 engine so am I correct that the 99 went to the SoHC but you can switch them and it will still run? Please give me your input. Thank you!

      So you are wanting to switch from a push-rod 4.0 to a SoHC 4.0, is that what you are asking?

    Hey man I have a question can I just replace the sensor and not deal with the synchronizer?

    • @chasingmustangs
      @chasingmustangs  Рік тому

      Yes you can replace just the sensor. If the unit is making noise or chirping, I would replace it.

    Thank you for the video. Just to ask, I have a 04, same engine with 220K+. It has been throwing P0304/P0316 for a while. I'd read on Rangerstation that it could be valve seating. I haven't tried this repair yet and still need to a do a leak-down/compression test to rule out seating. That said, here are my questions: What codes (if an) were being thrown to prompt this repair? given that this video is now 6 months old, Has the repair held? What changes have you noticed (fuel/response) as both have suffered on mine. TIA and again, I appreciate the video.

      Truck ran great for 6 months and then blow a head gasket. It's a rental truck so it was run into the ground. I am going to replace the engine as it is cheaper.

      @@chasingmustangsthe only thing I disagree with is that you said to watch the oil pressure. the gauges on ranges just tells you the oil level , not the pressure . so watching that gauge does nothing

    • @chasingmustangs
      @chasingmustangs  10 місяців тому

      @LITTLEBRAT775081 What I was saying is the camshaft synconizer connects to the oil pump with a shaft. If not installed correctly, you would have no oil pressure because it is not spinning the oil pump.

    I’m getting a P0174 code on my 2002 ford ranger 3.0. Would this solve my problem even tho I’m getting a lean code only for bank 2?

      @@Dyllanman So I had the bank 2 lean state issues on my 2003 Ranger and it never went away. I tested fuel pressure, had the injectors cleaned, put in new vacuum lines. Replaced the purge and vent solenoid. Then I replaced the O2 sensors and installed new pigtails. I ended up replacing the fuel pump even though pressure showed within spec. The problem would go away for 30 days and then come back. What ended up fixing my truck was replacing the computer. After replacing the computer the problem never came back. I recommend testing fuel pressure next.

    I'm getting code P1309 "Replace cam shaft position sensor". I did an engine swap and we used the old synchronizer and it's had this code since...about 100 miles. I should have replaced the synchronizer when we did the swap, but now I'm trying to find one and I see there's ones "with step on plug" and ones "without step on plug". Do you know what that means? From what I can tell it looks like some of the sensors have a plastic step inside the connector and some don't. Some forum post said if you get the one without the step on plug it works on both style connectors, but another guy said there's a "ring" around the connector where the harness locks in, so I'm not sure what I'm looking for. Is the "step" inside the sensor connector or outside?

      @@badcrcz what year is your Ranger?

      @badcrcz Місяць тому

      @@chasingmustangs It's a 2001 Mazda B3000 3.0 SE 4x4. I just pulled the sensor off and see there is no step inside the connector. On Ranger Station web page it has a better explanation, so now I know the "step" is inside the sensor connector where it narrows. I can't find a Motorcraft synchronizer anywhere, so I ordered a Dorman one from O'Reilly's that should be here today. I see a couple people said the tool that comes with the Dorman isn't the right alignment tool for 3.0. I think I'll just try to mark where the rotator nub is and the orientation of the synchronizer and put the new one in the same way.

    • @badcrcz
      @badcrcz Місяць тому

      @@chasingmustangs I picked up a Dorman 689-117 synchro which doesn't state anywhere which kind of plug is on it. It is the one without the step inside the plug, which is what I need. Hopefully I can get it replaced tomorrow. I wanted to find TDC and use the alignment tool but I can't seem to find a socket and extension the right length to turn the crank with the radiator and fan in the way. I planned on just putting a screwdriver into cylinder #1 and turning the crank to find TDC since I can't read anything on the balancer.

    • @chasingmustangs
      @chasingmustangs  Місяць тому

      @badcrcz you need to turn the crank from the bottom of the truck, much easier. The screw driver in cylinder one should work.
