    I am currently this person lol, but hey! I got my first order within a week and it was for a video game VO which I didn't advertise in ANY way. Despite being lucky with my first order, I think this is great advice and I will be expanding my gig footprint!

    This is a great overview! It's actually something that some charge a huge amount of money to tell you. Here, you've done it for free! I sincerely hope that others appreciate what you've done here. THIS is the type of person you are Tim! This should not only be helpful, but set an example for others for what is needed to be successful. Thank you!

      People charge for this information? Why? You can go and look it up yourself. These aren't secrets.

      @@FunnyGuyTimmy You are correct! However, there are those out there that would call what you've done here, "5rr secrets to success" and charge for it. Some people sometimes need to be 'told' rather than doing the work to find these things out... Essentially, paying someone to do the research for them. This is the age of the internet... instant information, yet it's not fast enough or complete enough for some to tie it all together. You have only touched the tip of the iceberg with this, yet this is what gets charged for and many will pay just for this bit of information... gladly. The one thing that those that charge for this may have (in order to give the benefit of the doubt), is the experience with the platform. They bring to the table first hand knowledge and have a continuing education process as the details of the platform changes. What you have given here is the basic meat of it all... hopefully, this helps encourage others to do their homework in investigating what works (and what doesn't) so they can do more of what does work, and less of what doesn't. In any case, I still applaud your video and hope it opens the eyes of other to get that homework done first before shelling out big bucks to the gurus.

      @@FunnyGuyTimmy You are so modest. A lot of us subscribers appreciate this. The amount of time spent researching is a barrier/deterrent for many. As you already stated along with your info, that it's important to research at least 2-2 1/2 hours research! Grateful

    Your video is so much more....helpful than the last two I watched with nothing of value. Just the down to earth facts you gave here. I made mental notes and it makes plenty of sense, Timmy. Thank you very much. Subscribed because you're real with it.

    By the way, quick question (if a person cannot afford to purchase foam,) could they use an isolation box for their microphone. Because I noticed that, on Amazon, there are some isolation boxes that are sold for people -- and they have acoustic foam essentially sewn into them. Could this be an alternative to putting foam on the walls? Or, are they most likely a ripoff, and would it be better to save up money and put up at least some foam? Thank you for your time.

    • @FunnyGuyTimmy
      @FunnyGuyTimmy  4 роки тому

      Joshua Harrover look for bed topper. It’s a cheap alternative that can be found just about anywhere. Those isolation boxes don’t really work as well as one would hope. Using a dynamic mic would reject more outside noise and reverb than one of those boxes.

      I would also say that treatment depends on the style of VO and the microphone. You could get away with just using blankets and quilts at first if you are only doing commercial narration and not loud character work.
