love your idea of the annual gear breakdown in the same spot.....I think that will be an interesting perspective to look back on Great vid again!!!! Thanks for sharing!
Hey Liam, im not a commentor but I watch all your vids they are great so keep it up, but something I would love for you to do on your trips would be a quick break down on what it cost you to go to these places and just in general what it cost to do the whole trip. It would seriously help for people like me with not much money so I could maybe plan a trip outside of my home in Ireland =D
That's a great idea, things like what his food to get started has cost then a break down at the end of flights train food water coffee etc everything he spent to set up and execute the trip. Well done for the good question.
Yo, Liam, being watching your videos since day one and along with so many of those who comment, we admire your modesty, your love of the outdoors, the absence of complaining and your humble, minimalist approach! Long may your health allow you to adventure onward and upwards!
Always love a good gear vid, see what gear others use. What I love about Liam is he ain't about the gear, just enough to enable him to do what he wants to do. ATB
Hey Liam I remember those videos you made about sleeping in different places in the UK and making some nice food that was local to the place you camped that night. They were so good! Maybe you could so something akin to that (of course only if you actually would like to do that) :D
you should do a Q&A ive been subscribed since you were renovating your van! do you still own your van? how much does it cost each trip? how long do you plan on travelling? :)
+1 on the Thermarest Neoair Xtherm. Hands down, the best piece of kit I have. Also we all have osprey aether packs. They have been on multiple hicking expiditions. THE most comfy pack I have ever used. So if anyone is looking for new gear, listen to Liam. No BS!
I love these videos! You're so practical with your choices and you use things till the wheels fall off. I've been using socks you recommended and my feet thank you daily🧦💖
U are so great. Thank you for your modesty, letting upgrades not bother your beautiful PATHway of life. Although secretly it would mae sense these drone and pad and stove and so on sellors would provide you with sponsorships. That being said, you make it ever so obvious that, unless health is an obstacle, we can all go trek the woids, beloved British Isles nature or far away grounds with a minimum of impactsteps and a maximum of healthy minimalism and simplicity. Tx for the "keepin'feettoastytips" ;-)
I really appreciate your videos Liam. I'm in sixth form college so I can't get out camping as much as I'd like, but your videos are the next best thing. Good stuff! 😎
Great video, wanted to say that you inspired my to walk the Rota Vincentina ( Fisherman's trail ) in Portugal, just half completed in 2024 and will complete the remainder this year.
I love seeing gear videos. I’m of the same attitude, if I love it, it works I will keep using it until it falls apart. No need to upgrade or buy new it’s a waste of money. This goes for everything really. I have some hiking clothes ive been wearing for years and years… my pack I’ve had for 15 years that I take on multi day hikes.. it’s looking a bit rough but still a great pack and the weight is 1.2kg (50L +10) which is light considering its age. I love alpine hiking it’s the best
Hi mate, yours are the best gear videos on youtube, i’ve watched all of them, it was because of you that i got a quilt for last time i camped, love following along with your vids mate 👍🏻
Vango Zephyr was my best tent ever. Zamberlan boots - Dharmer Bums' Japhy Ryder told me they'd be the most expensive bit of kit you'll ever use. He was half right but, like him, I wear them everywhere. Thanks for the upload Liam.
A nice easy watch on a Saturday cheers Liam, I am going to Nepal in may to hike the Annapurna circuit. Thanks for being inspiring brother, here’s to many adventures in 2025
I share the same philosophy, I only buy stuff when it breaks 👍 Interesting to see, thanks Liam. Yeah "waterproofs" are a con. They shouldn't be allowed to use the term - they're water resistant. I love my Montane Featherlight and actually wonder if wearing two would be better than traditional waterproofs. Frogg Toggs are crap - easily torn by undergrowth and the seams split, so interesting to see that you've gone for Patagonia Torrent. I'm a little concerned about the environmental consequences of the chemicals in the hand warmers. I'd look at a battery operated one.
Are you saying you don’t pack tea or Joe in your summer kit? You don’t have a coffee in the morning or a lovely, sweet cup of chai at the end of the day, whilst watching an amazing sunset? Think I’ve watching a different bloke for, what is it now, 5 years? Any road up, chuffed to see yer still getting a buzz out of it mate.. cheers Stevi
Great gear list there, if it's lightweight and works why buy more. Bought some of the British army long johns for an upcoming course, feel like a ballerina in them
I have the same kind of reflective weave inside my winter shoes. Never realized it was for reflecting heat back until now lol, I thought it was some Goretex bullshit
Hi Liam, Quick question for you. I too live in the UK but I am not originally from here. I do not know the rules when it comes to backpacking and setting up your tent. Can you just set up your tent anywhere when backpacking? Not sure what the wild camping rules are. Any help and recommendations for learning these would be greatly appreciated
I cringe every time I see anyone use those cheap supermarket water-bottles. They are not BPA free and are often made from recycled plastic. BPA is a chemical that leeches out of the plastic into the water, especially in warm conditions. The bottles themselves have been sitting in the supermarket warehouse and distribution warehouse for weeks, then for further weeks on the shelves. BPA is very bad for your kidneys. A Titan BPA free bottle would be much healthier for you and if you get the stainless steel bottles, you can fill them with hot water, put it in a sock and use it as a hot water bottle. In the morning it will not take to long to heat it up for your morning coffee. Secondly, as regards your hand-warmers, I was curious why you didn't use the petrol version. They give out heat for hours and are simple to use and top up. They even make an electronic version now than can be recharged with a USB connection and in an emergency can be used as another power bank. Again they are of negligible weight, especially the electronic version. I would also take two lighters, in case the first one fails. Their weight is negligible. No sign of a map or compass? Or do you rely on the maps on your phone? No sign of any electronic gadget to summon help in an emergency, if you fall and injure yourself? Remember that doctor who died of heatstroke on his hike, didn't have enough water or means of summoning the emergency services when he got into difficulty. I enjoy your videos and would hate to hear of anything happening to you for the sake of a few simple light weight items. I noticed the length of your hair and couldn't help but chuckle at the thoughts of what your old sergeant- major might say about it. Something along the lines of:- Get your 'air cut you effing hippy. 😂

Would love to see something like this
You inspired me to cycle from lands end to john o groats in the uk in 2023, best thing ive ever done. Definitley want to do another trip

Love this Liam, goes to show not every thing has to be rab or montane , happy trails

Really looking forward to your next explore Liam , your one of the people that inspired me to explore myself 🧡

Good update. Glad you don't feel the need to buy new items when the current ones work just fine.

Nice one Liam
Love the way you keep everything nice and simple, no frills or expensive kit
Keep up the great work
Just wanted to thank you for getting me into hiking. I completed my first Coast to Coast last year and plan to do it every year now!
Yearly gear list. Good idea thanks!😊❤
Glad your not all posh gear this or that like most pages - it’s refreshing 😊

I pack a hot water bottle for colder camps, the bit of extra weight is worth the comfort. Love your content
I really appreciate your videos Liam. I'm in sixth form college so I can't get out camping as much as I'd like, but your videos are the next best thing. Good stuff! 😎
Great video mate 👌🏼
Great video, wanted to say that you inspired my to walk the Rota Vincentina ( Fisherman's trail ) in Portugal, just half completed in 2024 and will complete the remainder this year.
Hello mate. Can you tell me , are you using a specific app or maps to map out your walking trips ?
I was also wondering, good question.
That Atom pack looks really nice. They were slightly out of my budget so I went with a Durston Kakwa 55. Can't wait to try it out.
Interesting that you referred to cheap sunglasses. Personally it's one thing that I would never compromise on.
I would like to know where exactly in Peak District did you record this video, please? It looks lovely and wild :)

Great video again! But please think about changing up the hand warmers to a reusable one. Save the planet with little changes
Thanks for sharing!
Hi mate, yours are the best gear videos on youtube, i’ve watched all of them, it was because of you that i got a quilt for last time i camped, love following along with your vids mate 👍🏻
You need some old school knee patches to repair your trousers
Hey Liam have you ever been in the hospital from a hiking accident?
Why don't you use British army waterproofs ?
Vango Zephyr was my best tent ever. Zamberlan boots - Dharmer Bums' Japhy Ryder told me they'd be the most expensive bit of kit you'll ever use. He was half right but, like him, I wear them everywhere. Thanks for the upload Liam.
Excellent choice, basic but all you need…. This is inspiring for my Tasmania trip !
A nice easy watch on a Saturday cheers Liam, I am going to Nepal in may to hike the Annapurna circuit. Thanks for being inspiring brother, here’s to many adventures in 2025
Another great video Liam, keep up the good work. Was that the Goyt valley you were filming in for this one
Me and my family used the same hand warmers in Snowdonia few days ago. Really effective.
It put a smlle on my face to see you use them as well!
I share the same philosophy, I only buy stuff when it breaks 👍
Interesting to see, thanks Liam.

I dont know if ive missed it but do you still have your van ? If so any thoughts on more van life.
What do you use for navigating mate? Or do you just plan the routes and wing it
Hi Alex, I use an app called OS Maps on iPhone. Download a route before hand then off I go, also a lot of winging it!
Simple dwn to earth chap none of this high spec equipment that's given to advertise keep it up m8 quality
Hey Liam Brilliant as usual...did you mention trainers/walking shoes??
Thanks Liam

Nice video, i dont think ill even give up my sleeping bag 😂😂 but I also have only gone out at freezing or much colder
Great gear list there, if it's lightweight and works why buy more. Bought some of the British army long johns for an upcoming course, feel like a ballerina in them
Lightweight baby! Yeah buddy!!
Dont know if you need it but there’s this water proof spray you can get that keeps your kit waterproof 🤙
The boots remind me of my DeWalt toetectors.
Peak District is this near shinning tor I swear after being there yesturday I recognise that tree line lol 😂
I have the same kind of reflective weave inside my winter shoes. Never realized it was for reflecting heat back until now lol, I thought it was some Goretex bullshit
What the hell is going on with your hair? 😂😂 Loving the content though Liam.
What I want to know is........... Do you still have your van????????

The number one rule for backpacking is, the crime is being caught.
💯
Ive saved 900g on a new sleeping bag game changer from a 1.9kg Vango full size to a Decathalon medium size at 1kg. Game changer save space and weight
NICE
Have you ever been up to warnscale bothy it's got amazing veiws of buttermere?
This time next year nobody will remember holy, thank god 😂
Do have a wonderful new year's tripping and you might even see me on your travels 🧳🥾🌊🙂👍🏊🚣🏄🪂🏂⛷️🤹🧗🚶🏝️🏖️🏜️🏞️🌅🌄🫧☕🍵🍽️
Craghoppers gear has a lifetime guarantee if you go in store with your trousers they will swap them for new ones 🎉
Not for a rip in the knee they wont!
Lynn: Those sort of guarantees normally exclude normal wear and tear.
