It's incredible how you have developed this and how close it is in functionality to the costly industry-standard samplers. Thank you for everything you do David!
with all the development you do on DS, I am amazed you have any time to work on your music, but your time and effort are greatly appreciated. if there were a plugin developer award for "most significant contribution to the digital music community", I suspect you would win by a landslide. thanks for all your work!
Honest to god, Decent Sampler is a god send (no pun intended). I love that you see a nice picture linked to the instrument. Legato is one of the most important things to an instrument too (specially strings).
I think I finally will be able to create a Decent Sampler version of the next NFO Strings bundle entirely on my own! Thanks again for your assistance with the 1st bundle, Dave ❤
Decided to Jump back into the Zone after a 20yr Break. Dreams were made of this. Well Done & keep going. Piano book, Competitions & Updates will push this project forward in ways beyond imagination. What an amazing time to Re-Sample the Sample :)
Big thanks to you for all those hard worked hours! There are some amazing sounds to be inspired by using Decent Sampler, I hope to make my own soon. Thank you
Hiya David! I'm very excited about the new format of Pianobook too. The sorting ability was desperately needed. I'm still getting my studio together here, but hopefully by winter I'll be contributing worthwhile instruments to your platforms. Thanks - always - for your excellent sampler, and it's always a pleasure to learn from your videos. Cheers!
thank you brother.... you have no idea how much DS has made me happy. As a person who cant afford these huge sounding programs that are a lot of money, it opens the creative side of me when i find tools that make my ideas come to life. No seriously the tool has made my choices of sound become so unbelievably lifelike. Im def going out to record some of my countries instruments. Trinidad and Tobago lets do pan.
I would still love to see Decent Sampler for Linux Arm though. Would really enjoy being able to use it on my Raspberry Pi. Since there are some fantastic low-latency audio interfaces for Raspberry Pi, Decent Sampler would make the Pi a very portable sound module.
Biggest DecentSampler advantage for me is native Linux support. Thanks again for that! There are SFZ samplers but they only work as VST. Sometime I just want to practice standalone with DS.
Likewise. I'm also not a DAW user (yet) so having a easy to install, standalone Linux version I can use to quickly preview Decent Sampler libraries with is brillant, thanks David!
Wait _you_ made decent sampler?! Thankyou thankyou thankyou for making it Linux compatible. You have single handedly transformed audio production on linux by reducing lock in to proprietary sampler platforms.
Thank you for the updates and your hard work! I'm currently testing on a new M1 iPad Pro myself, with Loopy Pro. Have you gotten a lot of requests for MPE capabilities? Lots of folks (including myself) are receiving their Bird Kids Off-Grid controller and it would be amazing to play DS with it.
What a Great gift to the world, I found out about DS via the piano book, and have been itching to contribute to the library with my recordings especially as the categories are expanding the catalog. Is there a drag and drop method as I’m rubbish at script based stuff… I’m still trying to have a go at getting under the hood. Cheers
Hello David, I Like your video 's to much. At the moment I watch to your decent Sampler tutorial. I hear: there is also In Linux version Thanks also for that!
Regarding scrolling the octaves: "z" and "x" are only valid for US/UK keyboard layouts. Please make this configurable, so I can use "y" and "x" on my German keyboard layout accordingly.
Thanks for creating and maintaining Decent Sampler. David, I was wondering, if you could need any help to develop Decent Sampler (e.g. testing, development, documentation, translations...)? I guess there are a lot of music loving programmers out there (like me) who would like to help out.
since ni has started to only release 2 layer 8 macro + fx chain backend romplers, i kinda wanna do some and im wondering if ds would support surfacing 2 layers + mix control as in e.g. play series instruments. im gonna do a deeper dive on the sampling requirements and possibilities tomorrow.
Are the effects like reverb or delay the same (quality) like in kontakt? So the converted pianobook instruments sound exactly like the creater inteded it to sound? Or might it even be better than in kontakt (by chance)... in case the reverb has a better quality in DS .... (more or less subjectively)
Hi thanks for making this amazing sampler! When I go to download the sample libraries on Windows through the VST a box pops up about a problem with zip files. Anything I can do to avoid that, so the instrument will load?
@David Hillowitz is there any way to code decent sampler instruments to be MPE compatible? I know that in Kontakt you can create 4 seperate instances of the instrument and assign them to different midi channels to make them MPE compatible, but can you do that in decent sampler too?
I can't remember if I asked this before: Does Decent Sampler use JUCE or another cross-platform framework, or are you rolling-your-own with each platform?
@@DavidHilowitzMusic I have a couple of students on my Retrofuturistic Hardware team at Georgia Tech (I'm an Electrical & Computer Engineering professor there) checking out JUCE now. One of them is making an FM synth to get their feet wet, and is liking it JUCE so far.
For the iPad version, is it possible to make the keys bigger for making more playable or making and option for changing the key size (they are plenty of black not used space).
I started the process of downloading Decent Sampler to add to Ableton Live on my Windows PC. Unfortunately I received a prompt that said "Do Not Run, Program Unfamiliar, May Harm My PC". Is there any info out there on corrupted downloads for Decent Sampler? Or do you think this is a false positive? Any help is much appreciated.
HI Dave, I'm just discovering this.. I have a problem. I installed the Decent Sampler Player plugin and it works in my VST3 file. but, when i try to get the sounds from the Decent Sampler site it say the the file 'was unable to create this fine in the VST3 location There are other VST's that I have this problem with. What am i doing wrong on my end? are these 32 or 64 bit plugins? AND does that make a difference what file they are saved in? can 64 and 32 bit live together in same file? Thanks SO much
If you go into the My Libraries tab, there’s a button at the bottom for creating folders. Once you’ve got some folders, you can drag and drop sample libraries into the folders.
I recommend not cluttering your sample space with hundreds or sound kits you will forget about over time, you will develop hoarding tendencies by not deleting them thinking they hold some sort of value to you
Hi Bob. Sorry to hear your comments are going missing. I’ve noticed a few other comments disappearing earlier this week. I think the UA-cam algorithm might be aggressively removing comments it suspects are spam.
I don’t want to use any services that are associated with christian henson because of his blatant transphobia :( I’d rather share my sampler instruments for $0 on gumroad or somewhere else instead
Thanks for the shout out and even more thanks for creating this fantastic platform!
Thank you for Your efforts too. This is a great community to join & within just a month I knew what gear to get after such a long break.
Love the way you’ve developed decent sampler! Few people are having quite such a massive impact in sampling as you Dave! Keep it going!
It's incredible how you have developed this and how close it is in functionality to the costly industry-standard samplers. Thank you for everything you do David!
Love this, The world has needed Decent Sampler.

Thank you for being an amazing part of this community Dave!
Looking forward to seeing what's new for Decent Sampler. It's such a simple thing to use!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! God bless you for your kindness and commitment.
Thank you for the wonderful work you do as well as the generosity in sharing it to others for free!
man , you are the legend , and decent sampler combined with vital synth , and adsr sample manager makes making music limitless
Thanks so much for Decent Sampler, and thanks for making it available for ALL the major platforms, especially Linux!
Thank you for all you have done for the community!
👏👏👏👏You Sir. are both a Gentleman and a Scholar!👏👏👏👏
Definitely do that face every now and again. Will definitely give decent sampler a go when my new music PC arrives. Many thanks again for all you do!

Splendid job David. Thank you
I am a huge fan of this project and will been contributing to this. So inspirational!!!
Well done friend. Decent Sampler has been incredible for a lot of us.
Awesone! Thank you SO MUCH for putting this GREAT work for FREE
U all r very good people 4 doing this, 4 FREE. Its amazing in my opinion...and thats an understatement

Man, this literally saved my live. Amazing sampled instruments, this definitely needs more recognition.
Big thanks to you for all those hard worked hours! There are some amazing sounds to be inspired by using Decent Sampler, I hope to make my own soon. Thank you
Really appreciate your work on DS - great that so many Pianobook samples are available in the format!
Thank you for your work on the Decent Sampler. I love this plugin for many reasons.

Great job! You are literally a game changer for aspiring composers.
I just downloaded Decent Sampler for Linux and I’m really impressed. Thanks so much for your work!
So awesome.... I love it. Saw Venus Theory on there, he's one of my favorites.
Cheers to all your work!
Thank you so much for your contribution to music production.
I have to echo the thanks for developing decent sampler. It opened up pianobook to me.
I've completely slept on both Pianobook and Decent Sampler! Will need to change that shortly. Great work, Dave!

Hey Dave,
I dig what you’re doing and would love to get you on my show Process Driven to unpack a little of what you do.
I love Decent Sampler! Thanks Dave! I haven't made an instrument for it yet, but it is on the horizon!
Awesome work ❤️
Amazing work!

Instant Like + Sub... Great work David. We appreciate you and your work

This is dope - I am unable to download inside the daw but the drag and drop is dope

You created decemt sampler? 😯 thank you so much ❤
Any chance a multi-channel version is on the way?
More ipad DS instruments please!
Loving decent sampler on Mac! It was crashing for me a good bit on my iPhone though :(
But I’m mostly in my Mac, so it doesn’t really effect me.
Fabulous….
since ni has started to only release 2 layer 8 macro + fx chain backend romplers, i kinda wanna do some and im wondering if ds would support surfacing 2 layers + mix control as in e.g. play series instruments. im gonna do a deeper dive on the sampling requirements and possibilities tomorrow.
Thanks so much for the amazing content. Q: Does decent sampler support micro tuning, e.g tune arabic maqams with quarter tones? Thanks
Ace!
Can you make a Apple silicon M1 native version?
Are the effects like reverb or delay the same (quality) like in kontakt? So the converted pianobook instruments sound exactly like the creater inteded it to sound? pianobook is down? is there any another place to download these sounds?
Hi thanks for making this amazing sampler! When I go to download the sample libraries on Windows through the VST a box pops up about a problem with zip files. Anything I can do to avoid that, so the instrument will load?
Has Decent sampler have any vocal samples like choirs or phrases
@David Hillowitz is there any way to code decent sampler instruments to be MPE compatible? I know that in Kontakt you can create 4 seperate instances of the instrument and assign them to different midi channels to make them MPE compatible, but can you do that in decent sampler too?
Is there a link that I could download the entire library all at once instead of having to search Sample Packs one by one?
Is it possible for us to create instruments for decent sampler by recording our Instruments..?
I haven't used it myself but it sounds like that's precisely what it was made for 😁
Some people keep mentioning that Decent Sampler might play Kontakt Instruments. Is that true?
I can't remember if I asked this before: Does Decent Sampler use JUCE or another cross-platform framework, or are you rolling-your-own with each platform?
It uses JUCE. I highly recommend it!

Yes! It’s on the list definitely. That was the first thing I noticed when testing with the iPad Pro.

Does anyone know how to send decent sampler output to Ableton Live? I can't seem to figure it out or find any info online!
Anyone know of the best decent sampler horns?
If there's an iOS app, is there an Android counterpart?
How do you organize your decentsampler collection?
If you go into the My Libraries tab, there’s a button at the bottom for creating folders. Once you’ve got some folders, you can drag and drop sample libraries into the folders.
@@DavidHilowitzMusic thank you.
I renamed some folders and now there are tons of duplicate bad instruments, how do I reset everything and start over? Edit: on Mac OS here
found it, in case anyone else is wondering this, there's a folder here on macos ~/Music/Audio Music Apps/Decidedly
was decent sampler made with HISE?
no, it’s completely separate from HISE
@@DavidHilowitzMusic word. do you have any opinions on HISE as a sampling platform?
i use phaser :0 how could u say that?
Awesome Stuff David
I recommend not cluttering your sample space with hundreds or sound kits you will forget about over time, you will develop hoarding tendencies by not deleting them thinking they hold some sort of value to you
👍👍👌👍
Windows Smartscreen blocks Decent Sampler installer =(
Ugh. I’m going to have to research how to prevent that. :(
David, why do you keep deleting my comments when I ask for help contacting Piano book, because they are not responding to subscription requests?
Hi Bob. Sorry to hear your comments are going missing. I’ve noticed a few other comments disappearing earlier this week. I think the UA-cam algorithm might be aggressively removing comments it suspects are spam.
My Library on Pianobook is now empty after the site relaunch? That's annoying.
I don’t want to use any services that are associated with christian henson because of his blatant transphobia :(
I’d rather share my sampler instruments for $0 on gumroad or somewhere else instead
Thanks for all your work - these are fun!
