I'm going to try and make some Decent Sampler instruments from my Kawai K5000W. The Kawai is an absolute pad monster and I have'nt been able to find a VST to emulate it. The idea is to sample then sell her and share the virtualised K5k with everyone.
Sounds like a fun project. I don't know much about the Kawai K5000W. You need an instrument that is analogue for you to own the recordings. I think digital instruments can not be sampled - which is rubbish!
@@deancoyle The Kawai K5000 is mostly an additive synth, so the sound is made 100% synthetically. There are a few PCM waveforms in some patches, but I don't think Kawai care at this stage. My understanding of the law is that PCM waveforms are sound recordings, and are covered by sound recording copyright. But I think digital synths that synthesize sound from scratch, like the Yamaha DX7 (FM) should be ok. I think synths like the Korg Z1 (physical modelling) JP8000 (analog modelling), organ modelling keyboards should also be ok.
Hi. Some clarification on my last post. I write my Soundfont scripts in a word processor, save as .txt, and rename .sfz. Then I play them through Sforzando ( personal choice). I record the sounds in Audacity and remove any silence at the start, taking care to trim at a zero crossing point. I then select a zone to loop and check that it sounds OK in Audacity; this gives me the values for loop start and end in the script. I have created a Soundfont for Uillean Pipes by recording individual notes from a performance and converting them as above.
I don't think your looping is acceptable, as the loop point is clearly audible. A sustained sound should be the same all the way through. I would not have bothered to sample the key click as it would never be heard in real life; it is not like the key click on a Hammond which comes through the speakers. If you are trying to re-create the Compact as an instrument, you would need to sample every voice, with and without each of the Vibrato settings. I have not used Decent Sampler; I have only sampled instruments through a Soundfont designer
Cheers for the input I will work on it. I dont plan to sample the whole organ any time soon. Though may add a couple more tabs and settings at some point.
Hi Dean. This was a very useful video to help get started with creating a Decent sampler instrument. Please make some more, thank you.
That is an excellent first instrument and a great intro to Decent Sampler.
Bookmarking this to watch in full. I’m trying to do this exact task with a Farfisa Compact Professional, so will be watching this step-by-step! 🤘🏻
Good luck, let me know if you get stuck!

Thanks Dean, greetings from Peru.
My pleasure!
Let me know if I missed anything important!
You should upload it to pianobook!!!
It's on there now! Thank you
i do write the right codes but mssing files it says all the time. Where do you keep the folders and files so it finds it?
My advice is to download an instrument from piano book and copy the structure from that. Making sure it matches what is in you xml file.
If you get stuck drop me an email.
