Buckwheat, Clover & Chicory: The Ultimate Micro food plot in the woods

Start to finish, you get to see it all in action! Join us for today's project video and follow up as I tackle planting a new micro food plot for deer in the woods on our Southern Illinois custom home on 22 acres that is now listed for sale. While the title may seem a little over the top, it is a very legitimate question when it comes to buying and selling land. The home will sell itself, as it is beautiful and there is not much to 'not like' about it. The view of the ponds and the hills of Western Kentucky will also help to sell this beautiful custom built Southern Illinois home. But it is often those finishing touches that help to sell land. Like a pre established micro food plot in the woods with beautiful green chutes coming up to help a potential future land owner visualize themselves sitting in the woods next to this new food source, watching the deer as they stage and funnel in to this new micro food plot, and maybe, just maybe before dark that massive Southern Illinois big buck will stop in to chow down some of the sweet greens that can only be found right here. Right in this very spot, where you have a comfy deer tower set up. It cant' be found anywhere else in the big bucks range, so he knows this is the only place he can find it. And Mr. Big Buck has a sweet tooth! Knowing what to plant, and where to plant it is the ultimate big buck lure on a remote property such as this one! So from our experiences of buying and selling land in many different states, many different land flip projects, rehab projects, and land improvement projects, getting a property near turn key has always helped to sell that land, there is no doubt about that! Today we'll go through the entire process of planting a brand new micro food plot for deer in the woods after making the new clearing this winter with my bobcat mini excavator. I'll take you through each step and explain the process as I tackle each step of the food plot soil preparation, the planting method and then the follow up soil preparation after planting the large seeds and fertilizer. And this year we were blessed with lots of rain so we'll also get a nice after look at the beautiful buckwheat and perennial food plot blends as they are coming up very nicely an emerald green to get this future new Hot spot created and started!
