Again, my high school English teacher taught me that Despite is a preposition so a noun or an equivalent to noun should follow it. Though is a conjunction connecting clauses. I haven't learned English grammar after since high school. You are as awesome as my old English teacher. I am from Dail High School in South Korea. I graduated in 1984.
Though I've spoken english all of my life, I still enjoy watching these videos. I'm certain many benefit from these lessons. Thanks for the refresher! =)
That's actually a very good question. I'm really not 100% certain as to exactly how but one of your videos had appeared in my suggestions box and I decided to watch. I found your commentary and sense of humor most enjoyable and I've been a subscriber ever since. I believe the first video I watched was regarding household tools.
Oh, I see. Well, I'm glad you're enjoying them! Some Australian friends sometimes watch my videos as well, and they said it was because there are lots of things that you don't actually think about it when it's your native language :).
@@EnglishwithMaxwhen you google the word “though” there’s a drop down box asking the question “how do I use though” and your video is what google uses 😺
Max, very innovative videos, and your sense of humour is great. When I first starting watching your videos, I thought you were making a lot of unnecessary facial movements, but now I just enjoy your videos. Thanks.
Haha, I was a bit uncomfortable in front of the camera in my early videos. And somebody even said I didn't smile enough! I'm happy you're enjoying my videos :).
Thank, Max. Yes, you appear to be much more relaxed in your recent videos. Do you make these videos as a hobby or do you earn out of these videos? I hope you wouldn't mind this question.
Max, please consider making a video on the correct usage of commas in the sentences. I am not quite so sure of it many times. So I believe others must also be having some issues with this punctuation, which perhaps in the most important of all punctuations. Do you agree?
I agree! And I actually considered doing a video on that because lots of people don't know how to use them, including native speakers. I also make mistakes with them ;).
Hi Max, Hope you are doing well and safe. We often use the word "Though" in our daily conversation. Though keep making such wonderful videos so that we could learn something new. Thank you.
Hi Max! Great lesson. I liked it a lot. "Though I've been very busy lately, I always find some time to watch Max's English video lessons." I'll see you next time. Bye!
Hi Max. may i recommend a video? i'd like to know how to use "throughout". i know a few examples, though i want to learn even more, specially from you. Thank you so much.
Hi Max, thanks for your sharing, I have a question Some time ago, I heard someone say this " I love reading books; On the other hand, though I don't spend too much time on it" Is this sentence the same as " I love reading books; On the other hand, I don't spend too much time on it" and "" I love reading books, though I don't spend too much time on it" ? If not, what's the difference? I'm looking forward to your answer
Hi there! Those three sentences all mean the same thing, but I think "on the other hand" sounds a bit awkward here. I would just say: I love reading books, though I don't spend too much time on it.
I have come across many examples in which although and though are always offset by commas, even if both although and though are used as subordinating conjunctions in the middle of sentences.
Good lesson. I would suggest you to improve your professional and creative video editing for you lesson you will get more attractive. Just suggest to for help. Anyway you lesson is very good 👍
Hey there how are you, Max? please help me. In this sentence: I don't like cooking. I like eating, though. Is it compulsory to put a comma before though? thank you.
Thank you!! Your videos are very helpful. I heard someone saying this sentence: Really, though? I’ve got confused about the meaning. Have you ever heard this one?
I'm happy to hear that! 😀 I admit I had to think about your question a little bit. Yes, people say that sometimes to show surprise or disbelief. Example: A: He says he has enough money to buy three houses. B: Really, though? I thought he could barely afford his rent. It's like saying: "But really?" Normally, however, you can just say: "Really?" I hope that makes sense!
English with Max yeah! It makes sense. Although I agree with you: really is enough. Thank you again!! I’m a teacher in Brazil for beginners and intermediate and sometimes teenagers bring these challenges to me. 😮🙂 You really helped! 😘
Hi Max, Perfect lesson. Please keep it up and kindly make more advanced lessons. I expected u would speak about the comma when we start the sentence with the subordinating conjunction. You mentioned it as a written comment why u didn't speak about it, though. ☺👍 By the way, may u kindly correct this sentence if there are any mistakes in it? "He is the ever best French teacher on UA-cam", and if it possible to kindly do a lesson about the proper usage for the word "ever" and it's different meanings. Regards, Ahmad,

Good question, and not very easy to answer ;). Both involve continuous movement over a smooth surface, but "slip" is normally used if the movement is an accident and results in a fall or loss of balance. Does that make sense?
English with Max yes, if I understand you: To slide is a volontary action as skiing but to slip is made by accident as falling on slippery mudy path You are right, I am french and to slide and to slip are the same word in french....glisser. Thanks for your answer
hi there. Max one question please. How do you say carátula in english? carátula means the first sheet of a notebook where you write your information such as your subject, name, last name, grade, etc... please help with that. thanks Max. love you
Hi Jorge! I don't know if we have a specific word for that in English... In a book we call it a title page, but I don't know what we would say for something similar in a notebook.
*I am very slim, my frends say im prettey though. * Although it was rainning heavily last night, I was able to have a good sleep. * My sister, though naughty, shes being loves by others. Hope these sentences are correct 😊

Both involve continuous movement over a smooth surface, but "slip" is normally used if the movement is an accident and results in a fall or loss of balance. Does that make sense?
