I've been learning English for ages but still I'm like Stella. I can barely speak😭. Students mocking for my broken English. But after getting Papa, i found out the key to my problems. Every now and then i try to follow your advice. Your teaching method is totally different than others instructor. God bless you Sir.

Hello Aly, your backhanded compliment is a nicer way of referring to sarcasm, the strongest form of irony when you say the opposite of what you mean to hurt people, as in « Oh, how early you are today » when somebody arrives late. It is definitely not nice and calling it a compliment is definitely sarcastic but you, English people, are so polite that you would never sound that rude! Thanks for that great lesson, as usual (and this is not sarcasm!!).

In France🇫🇷, what you call “backhanded compliments”, we call that “compliments hypocrites” (if we translate) or “faux compliments” which means “fake compliments”. Thanks to you, I know now how use “though” in a sentence. And Stella is iconic 🤣

I am a Mexican lady that was looking to understand a Korean grammar form when this video popped on my UA-cam feed... So... Despite the fact that I have been learning Korean for almost 2 years and a half this video was really helpful, interesting and clarifying about the nuances of the various ways to express contradiction in Korean, and in fact, in any language.
I usually learn from videos in Korean with English subtitles and it was really interesting and refreshing doing it just the way around.
I wish I could give you more than a thumb up!
Thank you so much for this video!

My advice: if you are studying a language, don't worry about the people's judgment because you will make many mistakes during your learning. Remember: in your native language, when you were child, it was happened sometimes until you felt confident to requires some skills as a speaker. Although I am begginer, I can improve my English everyday. Please don't give up to study a language.
