It's giving me a very long error message about why it cannot create the folder. I've tried this a bunch of times, same error. I can't imagine what is wrong at this moment.
finally migrated 1.000 evernote notes to onenote, after use it from 2012. The upgrade in evernote that showing ads and what make me do the switch is limiting 50 notes only. OMG! Thanks for this videos. I've searched everywhere for exporting evernote to samsung notes, but come up with export it to oneone.

Nice. But it is giving error when importing. ' could not create the target notebook in one note" system invalid cast exception etc. However with all these errors i will switch to OneNote anyhow. Bye bye Evernote, u r loser.
Isn't there a note limit on how much you can export at once from Evernote? What if you have only one notepad with a thousand notes in it? Can that be done all at once and transfer it over no problem? Thanks for this.

Worked a treat for me. I had to unstack some notes, it didn't seem to export them when staked. Imported was simple to a new Notebook, then copy to the Notebook you require. Thanks for the tutorial, really helpful.

OMG thank you for this! I've been searching desperately for hours! One issue that occurred is that after importing, even though luckily it was still separated by the respective pages, all my formatting is gone such as the font size, spacing and even the paragraphing. It all transferred in one chunk. I used Evernote for novel writing so the paragraphing especially makes me want to cry. I'm gonna have to spend hours, maybe days, fixing all of that but at least all my stuff is in OneNote now. You really saved me!

Hello, thanks for tutorial. Just migrated all my notes from Evernote to OneNote after seeing that I can't create a new note due to their stupid changes. I had to add my own newlines here and there but I like it better with note hierarchy at least. Instead of like 28 notebooks, I keep 4, making proper use of sections.

I've followed your instructions complete, I believe. Uninstalled OneNote (I have MIcrosoft 365) a few times, trying to make sure I download OneNote desktop version. Still get "Could not connect to Onenote! Reasons for this might be *The desktop version of onenote is not installed *Onenote is not installed properly *Onenote is already running but with a different user account. For the life of me, I can't determine that either of those three reasons apply. UGH!

@@WPressDoctor Actually, I got it to work on my laptop after getting so frustrated on my regular desktop. The laptop has a more typical setup, I think... just a "c" drive. The desktop has some stuff stored on a different drive (cuz the 'c' drive is too small). At any rate, since OneNote can sync on all my devices, I'm now good! YAY!
Thank you for this tutorial. I am having issues uploading files into OneNote. After the 3rd folder, I received an error. Perhaps because my notes have graphics in them. How do I move my files into Dropbox? Once I do this how do I access them? Thank you for your help.

Hi Grady Matthews! Thanks for your comment. That is because it is only made for PC's, not for Macs unfortunately.... I have not yet found a solution for Macs... sorry!
You will need to use a Windows machine for this. Alternatively you can use the Microsoft Remote Desktop app from your Mac to remotely access a Windows machine to do this process (so you don't physically need the Windows machine in front of you). You will then need to ensure you have synced your notebooks online for you to access this directly from your Mac going forward
Hi, Im importing but the notbook is empty. I go to, more notebooks>import>upload . From your video they should automatically appear in the notebook. Am I doing something wrong. Thanks 🙃

have evernote deleted any of my notes and notebooks because i have more than 1 notebooks? i don't remember how many notes i created long time ago as i later started using notion.
Hi Sachin! Thanks for the question. Well if you login to Evernote you can see how many notebooks you have 😁 I don't think they would remove notes, as that is a NO GO for note companies 😉

This was smooth, but for some reason, every imported note I open on OneNote I find some images from the note end up at the top (though they are also at the place they are supposed to be) for no reason. Plus, the notes are there but the highlighting I did on evernote does not appear on One Note. :/ any solution?
Hi there! Thanks for the question. Unfortunately I don't have that, and I don't know where you can get such a program for Mac. You could try to use a virtual machine to run windows on your mac, then do this tutorial and then delete the virtual machine... could work, but a bit of a hassle 🤔

If Evernote says "The free plan is being restored because 99% of our people isn't adding new notes anymore and haven't login since" then yes, I wouldn't bother with OneNote, as I was very happy with Evernote 😁. Somethings are worth my money as I do use them a lot and they offer great value. I just don't use my notes so intense I thought it was worth paying for it. If I thought so, than I would have already bought it years ago... And what was your reason?
I am just not comfortable my whole life data is sitting a company's server, which is managed by people take impulse quick decisions. Who knows tomorrow Bending spoons will not completely shut down Evernote. It feels like investing your money to a country that has no rules or jurisdiction. Unlikely but still I'd rather to access my information independent from a vendor. Microsoft is more reliable for sure. I wish Evernote wasn't sold.@@WPressDoctor

However, someone in the comments here used a virtual machine with windows to export everythjnr and then imported it on Evernote and then using the online system to sync it to the Mac version… it did work 😀

I've done everything explained with no results. The Evernote2OneNote tool says it is finished, but the notebook does not appear in OneNote. I am using Windows 10 and the current version of Evernote and OneNote.

@@WPressDoctor I figured out the problem. The tool works for OneNote 365, but does not work on OneNote for Windows 10. Why Microsoft has two different versions of OneNote is beyond me. I had to download OneNote 365 even though I have a subscription to Office 365. Thankfully my notes transferred to 365. The tool works fine now. You may want to pin a comment explaining that this tool doesn't work on OneNote for Windows 10. I didn't even know there were two current version out there until I went through this process. I'm sure others don't know either. This fact will be helpful for them.

HI tried this process and when i imported the note into onenote the folder imported but not the notes. any ideas? just tells me their are no sections here. I am using onenote for windows 10.
Just sorted this, i was in the onenote for windows 10 version and this did not support the importing of the files. as soon as i opened the onenote desk top app there are all there.

I've tried to import the enex files (primarily exported from EverNote) but I got an error msg, saying that it was not possible to cast a COM object of type : Microsoft.Office.Interop.OneNote.ApplicationCalss to Microsoft.Office.Interop.OneNote.IApplication (due an DLL problem) could you help on this one ? or it is pure Microsoft (Onenote) problem ?

Hi Matt. Thanks for the tip. I don't see the tags I applied in Evernote applied to the imported notes in OneNote. I do see that under the imported Notebook in OneNote there are "sections" that seem to mirror the tags from Evernote. But I don't actually see those section names as "tags" in OneNote that would enable searching by the tag.

Hi Reed, thanks for your question! That's odd, I have not encoutered this. Are your notes completely not imported or are they at the "misplaced notes"? Make sure to check it there...
@@WPressDoctor Thx for getting back to me, Matt. I don't see any "misplaced notes" or "misplaced sections" in the list of my OneNote notebooks. The exported notebooks are all different sizes (some small and some large). Evernote2OneNote churned for a while on each notebook, so it seemed to be doing "something." I do see the notebook titles in OneNote, but that's it.
@@RotorRocket check to see if you have something in the "Quick Notes" section. The app was creating empty new folders for me and dumping the actual notes into the automatically created "quick notes" folder within the main folder. I'll note I'm on a university enterprise account and this might make a difference.

It worked great for 5 notebooks and now seems to go through the same operation, but the other notebooks don't copy into Onenote. Hey Matt, I cannot open the zip file on a Mac. I have OneNote App but it is not allowing me to install Evernote2Onenote.exe
Hi Grady Matthews! Thanks for your comment. That is because it is only made for PC's, not for Macs unfortunately.... I have not yet found a solution for Macs... sorry!
You will need to use a Windows machine for this. Alternatively you can use the Microsoft Remote Desktop app from your Mac to remotely access a Windows machine to do this process (so you don't physically need the Windows machine in front of you). You will then need to ensure you have synced your notebooks online for you to access this directly from your Mac going forward

Which OneNote did you download? From where? Doesn’t work here, but since there are like 3 versions of OneNote, that could be the issue

have evernote deleted any of my notes and notebooks because i have more than 1 notebooks? i don't remember how many notes i created long time ago as i later started using notion.
Hi Sachin! Thanks for the question. Well if you login to Evernote you can see how many notebooks you have 😁 I don't think they would remove notes, as that is a NO GO for note companies 😉

This was smooth, but for some reason, every imported note I open on OneNote I find some images from the note end up at the top (though they are also at the place they are supposed to be) for no reason. Plus, the notes are there but the highlighting I did on evernote does not appear on One Note. :/

You didn't mention too much but is the sole reason the price? If Evernote tomorrow says I am bringing back the free plan do you go back to Evernote ?

If Evernote says "The free plan is being restored because 99% of our people isn't adding new notes anymore and haven't login since" then yes, I wouldn't bother with OneNote, as I was very happy with Evernote 😁. Somethings are worth my money as I do use them a lot and they offer great value. I just don't use my notes so intense I thought it was worth paying for it. If I thought so, than I would have already bought it years ago... And what was your reason?
I am just not comfortable my whole life data is sitting a company's server, which is managed by people take impulse quick decisions. Who knows tomorrow Bending spoons will not completely shut down Evernote. It feels like investing your money to a country that has no rules or jurisdiction. Unlikely but still I'd rather to access my information independent from a vendor. Microsoft is more reliable for sure. I wish Evernote wasn't sold.@@WPressDoctor

The application on github seems only to provide a .exe file. So, this only works for Windows. Can you provide a Mac OS solution, please?

However, someone in the comments here used a virtual machine with windows to export everythjnr and then imported it on Evernote and then using the online system to sync it to the Mac version… it did work 😀

I've done everything explained with no results. The Evernote2OneNote tool says it is finished, but the notebook does not appear in OneNote. I am using Windows 10 and the current version of Evernote and OneNote.

@@WPressDoctor I figured out the problem. The tool works for OneNote 365, but does not work on OneNote for Windows 10. Why Microsoft has two different versions of OneNote is beyond me. I had to download OneNote 365 even though I have a subscription to Office 365. Thankfully my notes transferred to 365. The tool works fine now. You may want to pin a comment explaining that this tool doesn't work on OneNote for Windows 10. I didn't even know there were two current version out there until I went through this process. I'm sure others don't know either. This fact will be helpful for them.

HI tried this process and when i imported the note into onenote the folder imported but not the notes. any ideas? just tells me their are no sections here. I am using onenote for windows 10.
Just sorted this, i was in the onenote for windows 10 version and this did not support the importing of the files. as soon as i opened the onenote desk top app there are all there.

Hi Matt. Thanks for the tip. I don't see the tags I applied in Evernote applied to the imported notes in OneNote. I do see that under the imported Notebook in OneNote there are "sections" that seem to mirror the tags from Evernote. But I don't actually see those section names as "tags" in OneNote that would enable searching by the tag.

@@WPressDoctor Thx for getting back to me, Matt. I don't see any "misplaced notes" or "misplaced sections" in the list of my OneNote notebooks. The exported notebooks are all different sizes (some small and some large). Evernote2OneNote churned for a while on each notebook, so it seemed to be doing "something." I do see the notebook titles in OneNote, but that's it.
Hm that’s to bad. It might be somewhere else, try opening a different notebook in OneNote - it’s a solution stated on the tool creator page…
@@RotorRocket check to see if you have something in the "Quick Notes" section. The app was creating empty new folders for me and dumping the actual notes into the automatically created "quick notes" folder within the main folder. I'll note I'm on a university enterprise account and this might make a difference.

@@WPressDoctor Finally, I found this option, but it does not appear when I select Notebooks as in your case. I have 3 levels, Notebooks, Notebook Category and Notebook. The export appears when I select a category inside of Notebooks.

Hi again. Import worked fine on my desktop computer but my 264 imported notes are not shown on my mobile app. I have disconnect and reconnect but not improvement. Any idea ?

It worked great for 5 notebooks and now seems to go through the same operation, but the other notebooks don't copy into Onenote.
