The hub caps are from the AMT 53 ford F-100 pick up, from the first relese of this kit back in the sixties. And the engine is a 394 olds engine. In many of the old AMT kits the engines are interchangleble, like I used the olds engine that comes in the sedan kit to be used in the 40 coupe, and the engine that come in the Amt 34 Ford PU. kit witch is a 406 thunderbird all chrome engine in my sedan. The engine in the 1936 ford AMT kit is a 389 Pontiac, and that engine is also interchangle to other AMT kits. I hardly ever build a kit in stock version.
Using a Molotow chrome pen for body trim molding. My trick is to mask the hood, and body to either side of the trim. That way a steady hand isn't quite as critical. Care has to be used to keep the masking properly aligned. It works well on my '40 Ford sedan builds. With this, I generally prefer building the first generation AMT kits. When the trim molding was clean, and sharp.
@@GluebombGarage The Tamiya tape seems to work best on this. Make sure the tape fully adheres to the body. Even so, there might be some small paint touch ups to make. They are generally only pin head size touch ups. This is my experience anyway. Also my best results so far, have been that the Molotow chrome stays better with the trim masked off when airbrushing the paint on the body. Then mask for the trim application. In my experience the Molotow seems to do better on bare plastic. I'm always happy to share the tricks & tips that I have learned. Hope this works for you. A trick that I picked up here, that I am going to experiment with, is using Liquetex clear coat, that is said to work well to protect the shine of the Molotow chrome.

Very nice build. I just picked up another 39 myself. I seem to get many of this kit. You did a sweet job of getting the 50's, 60's style rods. I did get your shop card the other day. I just haven't been on the internet too much lately. I'll get something up soon. Paul
