Just amazed how the actor from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs regrew his arms and legs.
Just to confirm, that’s the one skit in Monty Python’s quest for the holy grail, right?
Well he is Dursley, so maybe Harry Potter showed kindness and magic'd them back on! :D
When did he lost them?
I just start watching this show on July 12, 2020.
I just notice 3 major flaw.
I'm at the part where Andy and her friend Quynh got imprisoned. What went through my mind was how they got capture by the Englishmen with torches and sticks?
They have no problems skillfully killing a group of Mongols with sword and arrows, but the show won't explain how they got capture by people using torchds and stick.
And then, there is the undead thing. Why won't the Englishmen just decapitate prisoners? Why drown them?
And finally, why won't Quynh fight when the prison guard unlocked her handcuff from the wall chain?
She just magically teleport into the iron maiden with zero resistance.
Anyway, enough of my ranting. Time to get back to the show. Maybe they'll explain why they got captured later on.
@@condorX2 Okay here's my take. Firstly, I don't think they got captured that easily, and the Execution thing, the Englishmen might have thought that they might get cursed or something since they were accused of being witches. The scene where Quynh was getting dragged into the Iron maiden, Quynh had cuffs on her feet and her arms when she was getting dragged by fully grown men ( They just have immortality, not super strength ). So yeah that's just what I think.
They could literally do so much with this movie though. A sequel, a prequel, a series, I mean either way I’m all for it!! Definitely gets a 10/10 from me!
Thinkin the same especially for a series
This movie is based off of a comic book, and the second book in the series is already out, so if there is another film coming it will most likely be based on that
That ending made the movie feel like a pilot.
Jessica Farnsworth I’m happy the author is deeply involved with the movie. Even with what they had to add to help the plot. It didn’t dilute the comics.
Would be nice to see
the way this moive ended, they’re definitly trying to set up a franchise, and im really excited
me toooo
I sure hope so. So much they can do.
They making the part 2 already
Josh Makapagaru oh well that was quick
Owen Edwards I hope that andy somehow gets her immortality back and i wanna see some action from quynh
Being immortal sounds cool till you end up like quynh
It would be sick living through history n shit

I almost drowned once and the thought of drowning over and over for centuries is possibly the worst kind of torture imaginable. 😳
That shit is a different level of pain man holy shit
ye they say the worse way to die is by drowning
watching quynh scream for her life, die and then come back to life to scream was painful. i also almost drowned once and during that whole scene, i felt the back of throat getting itchy and had a bit hard time breathing.
Two worst ways to die for me are alone in the ocean or alone in space
waterboarding for centuries!
That was not an "Ending Explained", that was just the whole movie recapped and regurgitated into a 7 minute video.....
The idiot didn't know qynh is Andy's lover. Not the guy that appeared for a total of 20 seconds
Yeah, they always get people with that "explained" bullshit!
Gary Bowen
I was looking for this comment...
My theory for the sequel:
Quynh wants to destroy humanity for her torture v.s. The old guard who want to protect humanity
I sure hope not
have seen so many movies like that, now i hope the sequel doesn't go that way
Yup I thought the same thing, when I saw her I was like she’s coming back with vengeance.
Sounds like a good time to me!
I feel like she’s gonna want revenge on Andy because she stopped looking for her
This movie proves that immortality isnt good for humans and the world in general. Imagine being alive for 2000+ years and not being able to tell anyone because of fear of imprisonment.
Not being able to build a relationship with your family 💔
or being drowned and resurrected a thousand times 😖
Czed Ermino not even a thousand times! Could you imagine. From what we could see, quyhn revived after a couple of seconds and if i remember correctly, it lasted 500 years... that’s billions of times. Now that’s real torture lol
this movie also shows that no matter what you do , you'll always end up dead .
@@sycky fucking wolverine vibes man
Man i was hoping Andy got back her powers after believing in herself again that she's doing good for the world .
😂😂😂
Same, I wonder how the sequel will play out since in the graphic novel she doesn't lose her immortality.
they gonna practice a 3 man rotation as a last resort that shields Andy when they are in the worst possible combat situation. They already did a teaser in this one. then plot twist she got sniped in the head, but turns out she still immortal, lmao
I'll bet she gets them back. When she tells Booker he's banished for 100 years, he says he'll never see her again, and her response is, "Have a little faith." Maybe she *already* has her immortality back, and maybe she thinks she *can* get it back. She's a cagey person. Who knows what she's hiding at this point?
It wont happen she is like 2500 yrs
There's something about being locked in an Iron Coffin and being forced to drown over and over, that legit sent shivers down my spine
It’s still haunts me to this day...wouldn’t be surprised if she lost her mind completely by then
For 500 hundred years imagine that.
I can't imagine how many times you die. Correct me if I'm wrong but it takes 10 minutes to actually die from drowning and that including being unconscious. Imagine dying every 10 minutes for 500 years. I don't want to do the math.
Hungry Maniac and we don’t know how long ago she actually got out of the iron maiden...for all we know she could almost pretty much still be fresh out when she shows up at Booker’s apartment. That math has harrowing implications then.
Immortality Always was my favorite superpower, the one i would like to get, but After that, it make you reflect more on it. There is so many ways immortality Can go horribly wrong.
Charlize Theron should've been *Captain Marvel.* She's 🔥 in The Old Guard.
Nahhh she to badass to be Captain Marvel
I was thinking she produced this because she knows she can kick ass as a superhero. In MCU or not 🤣
that would have been great but brie is good too
@P M omg yes I love

I wish this was a Netflix series instead of 2 hour movie. There is so much more that could have been done with the premise that was cut off by sticking it in such a condensed time frame.
It’s based on a comic and they are likely going to make another one

considering that an average human lungs can be underwater without oxygen for about 1 minute and she spent about 500 years under water... Quynh died every minute on a total of 2.628.000 deaths
Even a million less would make one go crazy. I was just thinking why didnt the iron coffin rust to pieces in 500 years, but apparently it did..
@@lasse4416 An hour or two would be enough.

I think you missed some zero's there: according to your reasoning, the right answer would be 262.800.000 deaths, a hundred times more
@@eland420 Sounds about right!
Booker is my favorite character. The man just wants his grief to go away, if I was one of the immortals; I would of forgave him.

They did. But they also had to punish him for it.
he is a good actor, look his eyes when andy told him he will never met her again, look how he acting, eyes the look, too good
what happened to quynh scares me, i don't even want to imagine how it feels being drown again and again for centuries.
yup.. i kept thinking bout it
it’s gon be interesting what booker’s arc will be on the 2nd movie
Exactly this. And add to that the coffin is chained with a lock. Then you consider how her body was probably pumping adrenaline 24/7. Then when you consider how long it takes to deform metal enough to break, it’s basically almost akin to Christian hell.
Imagine how twisted and numb you’d be once freed. She is going to make a great villain.
I can’t stop thinking of this actually
Man i actually got sad for the immortals in this movie because. If they get captured, they will have to suffer in cages until they try to escape.
unless you wolverine then you would break out of the finnnnngggggg cage
@@ibrahimsurti4922 yeah but wolverine can't swim he's too heavy he would still drown with or without the coffin.
Noah Orakwue actually wolverine can swim
This is the purpose but Why? What kind of , are they you know that trap is not actual but do to their Atheist conviction. Only in a world without the divine does being immortal a undesirable attribute.
Yep. If they get captured they will have to wait for their captors to die of old age or wait for luck to turn on their side. Which is depressing and frightening at the same time.
Fuck this would have made such a nice series. They could have like made up these stories and showed them over the centuries and how they evolved and all. That would have been amazing. Like how they go from crusades to the world wars and so on. They could have easily done like 10 episodes of different times and battles and like 5 or so with the evil pharma plot. I also dont know abour quhyn as the villan for a possible sequel. Idk its just kinda weird in my opinion. Great film tho. Tho i at some point was like damn this could go on for another 2 hours but then saw shit only 30 minutes left

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure the ending: Quynh and Booker would likely be the antagonists in The Old Guard sequel.
@Cameron Mayfield if they follow the graphic novels, he won't join Quynh. He has no reason to want to "kill" them. They didn't make him immortal (so he can't be mad at them for that) and he knows what he did was wrong so he doesn't blame them for the exile. He knows he has to pay for what he did.

The Old Guard is actually pretty good. No complaints other than it could use a little more action.
I actually think it's a good balance. But some parts are a bit draggy though
The origins of the characters had to be told that's what made it 2 hours. The next story will have plenty of action.
Which other action do you wanna see the action scenes balanced perfectly throughout the movie I don’t know what you’re saying
Bruh it was all action u good? But I’d rather they put more backstory on the things they’ve all dome

Antonio Yazzie she's Viet. The original character was japanese but the actor is Viet so the movie changed the back story of her char to Viet too

I didn’t realise that! That’s an interesting tidbit.

@@vampyrcia in the comics, i think she doesn't have a strict preference because she sleeps with men and women. in the movie, it's not explicitly said what her preference is, but it's no big deal if they give her a relationship whether with any person.
sickchiq how does his comment infer that Andy is gay?
Ya know, I enjoyed the movie. The fight scenes were really fun and cool, you could tell that the immortals had fought together for centuries with how they play off each other. Merrick is... well, he's a new money pharma CEO, he's extremely easy to hate. The cast around Theron do a pretty good job, Booker is probably the weakest tho. I really appreciate the representation with Joe and Nicky, they're a cute couple and they kick ass (when they aren't captured halfway through the movie but hey, I get it, we need motivation). I'm glad they keep stuff open for a sequel, the origins of their powers as well as Quinn showing up. It's not mind-blowing, but I'm happy with what I saw. I do wish it gots a better budget for the special effects and flashbacks.
The flashbacks reminded me of Xena 🤣🤣
Low budget but semi-decent fight choreography. Definitely need to improve on that area for the sequel
@@FieryFlamingFajitas from what I know of the comics, the flashbacks are big epic massive battles, which like, ok budget wise that makes zero sense but at least give them some better outfits

honestly, im tired of EVERY movie having an intense gay, loving couple and a "God is dead or not real scene". it is so prevalent an obvious in every movie that it's clearly pushing an agenda. before i'm called a homophobe, because i literally don't care one way or the other, im just saying be real. EVERY MOVIE doesnt have to have a gay couple bc every movie doesnt even have a straight one either. EVERY gay couple doesnt have to be so sickeningly in love because i have seen gay couples throw down just like straight one SO SHOW THAT TOO. i HARDLY EVER see a loving straight couple (especially a black one, NOT INTERACIAL BUT BLACK) and they have them! show that! and EVERYBODY doesnt think that God isnt real or is dead because where did all these christian, baptists, and protestants come from???? i just say show more of real life and stop scewing these movies to show whatever version of reality this is because this is DEFINITELY not mine.

I literally fell in love with this movie and, after watching it, comic books. This story would be perfect for a series rather then a movie but oh well it'll do. I can't wait for a sequel!
Look I understand Booker and his grief but did he really expect that the team would be lenient and forgiving except maybe Nile as Andy said she would've been fine with an apology would be fine but would she really? There wouldn't be any anger simmering under the surface at his betrayal? Did Booker expect that the old guard would go ''yeah we're totally cool even though you betrayed us and condemned us to suffer and be in misery for eternity just so you can make your own pain go away''? Personally I don't think I would be of a forgiving nature either. And I kinda did have the feeling that he's gonna team up with Quinn in a potential sequel as an antagonist bc of his excommunication. He feels hurt and betrayed I guess now he knows how the team felt when he betrayed them.
Athena Sidiropoulou True but Booker is deeply sorry and truly regrets it. He realized he was wrong and even tells Niles let me die. But she said we leave no on behind. So it wasn’t that the man wasn’t sorry....also he assumes she was still immortal. If he knew she wasn’t I bet yeah he would not have shot her. I mean mabe he still would of betrayed them, then regret it but, he wouldn’t of shot her if he knew. Also Quin shouldn’t even be angry at Andy in the sequel, I mean for years they tried to find her.
@@TheKira708 I do see your point Kira but for me personally what makes this not so easily forgiven is that with his actions he tried to take away the choice that Joe, Nicky, Andy (before he discovered she can't heal anymore) and Nile had. Just because you want to become mortal doesn't mean the others want the same. And I do agree with you about Quinn. I haven't read the comics so my opinions are based on the movie but I did get the vibe that she will end up as the villain in the sequel though why Booke would team up with her I don't know. Maybe he'll try to fight her and warn the team thus breaking his 100 years banishment which in turn might upset the rest thus making them add even more years to his banishment after he helps them deal with Quinn? I also want to see in the sequel how Quinn got out of her watery grave.
@@athenasidiropoulou128 I'm a lot like Nile. I suck at holding grudges so I also would have let him off with an apology. I think that the punishment of loneliness for 100 years is especially harsh because they can't have regular partners and friends. I feel like a different punishment would have been more appropriate particularly since they know he would never do it again. I think the punishment will drive him off the deep end particularly now that Quyunh is back. I think she might convince him to do something extreme and because he has no voice of reason to see that, he will go along with it.
Athena Sidiropoulou An I completely understand that. But again Booker also felt bad especially, to the point were he wanted to die. An also he did help them in the end. I feel like they should sympathize with Booker...I mean after all....he had 3 sons and had to watch them all grow old and die etc. As he says. Nikki and Joe had each other for over a millennium.
All Andy and him had was there grief....Andy for her lover and Quin and Booker for his sons and loved ones. So like I completely get where he is coming from. Although it doesn’t *justify* to take away everybody else’s choices of there immortality. So I do understand that as well. But Bookers heart was in the right place, he was just tired and didn’t want anybody else especially Niles to go therw that pain and suffering. As for Quin I hope they come up with a better reason because I can see if they abandoned her but they all tried for decades to find her and couldn’t...so that isn’t there fault but we will have to wait and see. An everybody deserves a second chance.
I mean Andy shot Niles in the head. And assumed she would come back to life, which she did but....what if she didn’t. They themself don’t know how there immortality works. Well they do and don’t. But they don’t know when it will stop. So Andy thinking...what the hell shes new anyway, and shooting Niles in the head. What if that cost Niles a life. Mabe they only get a certain amount of deaths before they stay dead. Andy isn’t a saint either...so me personally I feel like Booker should of gotten a second chance.
@@ellax325 usually I am like Nile too but this was too much of big betrayal to be forgiven with an apology. Oh boy first setting them up with Merrick and now teaming up with Quyunh? That's gonna be one painful and angsty sequel

condorX2: I agree that there were some flaws to them getting captured. I kept reminding myself that they just have the ability to regenerate. With that being said, I don’t think they have any super human strength (to overpower chains and a few men holding onto you), and MAYBE their heads may have been chopped off but it just reattached or grew back or something, but the movie just didn’t show it (I’m sure they’ve lost limbs before). can i say this..
If Quynh is gonna be a villain, it'll be another same story. She's mad, She wants revenge, she killed people, she destroy the world to lead Andy and the rest of the team notice, and they'll fight each other, maybe try to kill each other, and maybe it ends with Andy dying because she starts ageing and maybe a mortal. Then Quynh said sorry and yadayadayada become the another member of the group.

What if Andy isn't the oldest of the Immortals? What if there's some other dude who rather than try to make the world a better place, has actively been doing the exact opposite? That would make a great villian.
They'll keep dreaming of each other until they meet in person. So, it's not possible that there is another immortal that they did not know of. Would make an interesting plot though.
If they follow the graphic novels, Booker won't join her. He has no reason to, he knows what he did was wrong and he knows he was to pay the price for his betrayal. I actually like the fact that it wasn't your typical movie betrayal. He didn't do it for power or money. He thought he was helping find a cure to their immortality. Sadly, he was wrong and risked them being tortured for years. But overall they have done nothing to him to justify him to side with Quynh.
Bruh why didn’t booker just turn him self over to them and keep the rest of them safe then smh
Because they needed all of them? They literally said that in the movie lol
I cant imagen drowning and coming back life just to drown agian for 500 year
Cant wait to see the sequel i realt wanna see how she got out of the iron tomb
she lost the care she had for the good in the world and so the immortality left her.. i think
naa she just was too old
Akshat Wagadre or it is legit random, or connected to some other unknown misunderstood force.
@@ianmcnab8751 may be the number of immortals remain constant. So when a new one comes, one of em loses their power.
I do think that was a big part of it, but I also think her theory that because Nile became immortal there’s a finite number of immortals allowed in the world has a part to play.
@@bloodbath-and-beyond technically, booker lost his care for his immortaliity because he lost his famil/loved ones... all he wanted to do was die. I dont think he explicitly said that he doesnt care for other people
finally a great movie in 2020 !!! i was crying and smiling at the end. great performance by all the actors.
is merrick dudley from harry potter
Yup
Yup
Yes. And he lives in Surrey 😂
I liked watching him die lmao
That's where I recognized him from! Wow he's trimmed down.
Thank you for this!!!
I am so glad you did a review and breakdown of,this, movie. I was on the fence about watching this but now I can make a decision.
But he literally just spoiled the whole thing hahaha
My theory is that Qhuin(I don't really know how to spell it) returned to be their new enemy in the sequel,I think she will seek revenge on Andy to see her suffer and die(remember what Andy said? "I made a promise and I broke it") Qhuin remembered what she said and kept that promise and waited for her for a long time but then she never came and that's why she seeks revenge on andy with the help of booker.
After I watched the video :oooops he already have that hypothesis.
Speaking like Queen in English
This HAS To become a series, thinking this could be a H U G E hit
Andy is immortal again. She was losing her immortality because she wasn’t appreciating it. She thought she wasn’t doing any good. Only after rescuing everyone and killing Merrick did she see her good.
The movie is insanely good, in terms of history and character development just seeing Quynh's face in terror was enough to spark a huge reaction.
How they take immortality so lightly and the thought of torture a nuisance but when she realizes what they're going to do she freaks out, knowing it's one if not the worst things they can do to them. IE I think burning them alive would be more forgiving, they would burn slower and die, be reborn from their ashes days if not weeks later depending on how long it takes for the regeneration to be able to escape.
Also Merrick was fantastic, the second thought of being a human test subject and locked up for centuries for tissue collection seems horrific.
I know the budget wasn't as big and it would have been nicer to see more flashback stories; IE Joe and Nicky killing each other over and over during what I would presume is The Battle of Waterloo ( Napoleon's last battle ).
Film was amazing!
It wasn't at all what I expected.. great acting, great action and conveniencing storytelling 10/10
Think Story I have a jump scare for you
Boo!
That was pretty good!! Looking forward to future movies!!! Not to much of a love story but a lot of action! Good story line!!! Wanting more! Kinda a cliff hanger at the end but I guess that’s why you want more!! Keep it coming
I didn't think I would like this but kiki won me over, hope she becomes team leader next movie 👏
Since Andy is the team leader, you're obviously trying to slam Charlize here in a very passive aggressive manner. I have a feeling her character will be the leader for a while, so you need to decide if you still wanna watch or not.
@@Rosannasfriend ill watch but I think she will be killed off screen tbh, but good read, remind me to never play poker vs u 😆
Why would nile become the leader? That's the most stupidest thing I heard. One she the youngest and most inexperienced of the group. Secondly she is a child compared to the rest of the group regarding her knowledge and world experience. That been said her youth and innocence of things will strengthen and uplift the group who have become tired of everything.
Rosannasfriend girl ive been seeing you in reaction vids here in yt and i wasnt expecting to actually see you here hahaha at all. Just saying hi.
All she did was complain. Typical 🙄
This is easily one of my favorites films of the year.
Andy for president
take my vote
I can't wait for the Old Guard 2. Its going to be real interesting on how the Old Guard Survives.
Why do I keep seeing videos explaining netflix shows and movies?
If someone watched the movie, they know the ending and what it means.
I enjoy hearing different perspectives from others.
Yeah this video had nothing new to what the film explained.
Biggest issue with the movie was the premise of this person, that is thousands of years old, getting depressed all of a sudden about her actions having no affect and stating 'it has just gotten worse' over time. Any individual who has glossed over human history for the last few centuries, let alone the previous millennia, would know how much life has changed for humanity across the globe, with nearly all of it for the better.
i just finished this awhile ago and the ending got me so curious
this was such a good movie! definitely will rewatch it sometime in the future.
Quin’s character is broken . For centuries drowning. A day has 24 hours . She drowns like 50 times a day . Id go nuts and destroy the world when I get free.
Exactly! But I’m confused to as to why she would want revenge towards Andy though. They looked for her but the couldn’t find her.
@@lifeasdah the thing is, she doesn't know that.
We're all waiting to see that in the sequel.
Drowning forever is so dark that I feel like drowning just imagining it😰
I'm already waiting for the sequel but damn I can watch this as a series it's do good!
This movie was so awesome. I loved Theron in it. She kicks ass 😍😍
an ENDING EXPLAINED video by Think story: a complete recap of the story with some speculation at the end
Thanks for taking the time to explain the whole movie too 🥴😂
THE BEST ACTION MOVIE OF 2020!!
Liking this video...your site looks interesting too. *NEW SUB*
Bring back immortal to Andy her war is about to begin
I liked the movie a lot. For Qunyh, they could have hired scuba divers, search teams anything with all the years they have been alive I mean they could have had billions of dollars and searched for her. Yeah, the ocean is huge I know but with all that time they could have found her with more effort.
@Blitzing Peaces I understand that. I'm saying Andy knew what ocean she was dropped in. She gave up that's what I'm saying she could have hired more people at the current time she was living in. Qunyh was dying every 5-10 mins I would not have stopped searching for her.
For someone who's fought many battles and wars, should've Andy have immediately noticed the lightweighted empty hand gun?
The plot is always undefeated
Why didn’t she give that gun to Nile? I’m pretty sure she did
The movie is lying to us because every soldier checks their weapons before any engagement.
@@cozicove Maybe. But she saw Booker check it before handing it to her. And a few hundred years earns you a lot of trust.
She knew it was empty. She wanted to eventually die to end the immortality and suffering. She gave up. But when Nile came back that’s when she said she knows now that she can’t give up because she still has things to accomplish. It’s a sick scene!
If they can regenerate like they do in the movie then they could have been world class bodybuilders, think about it, muscles get bigger and stronger when they heal from the damage of working out, an instant healing factor would practically eliminate the need for recovery time allowing them to build muscle rapidly.
Plot hole: the iron casket would've gotten rusted eventually, no? I think much sooner than the time said...
When you think about it, rusted iron chains hardly lose their stoutness. The casket was secured several times with chains
Bacteria in the ocean eat all metal. Think Titanic. It will be dust one day.
Thanks for the review of the movie. Still doesn't explain anything we haven't already seen
the soundtrack choices were sooo bad
Why? I liked them
@@joan6839 i also liked them
God yes the mixing was god fucking awful
Quynh is crazy how? She's drinking water!! She's been drinking and breathing water for 500 years! Eventually one day, you'll get tired of screaming, you'll think of how can I make this comfortable? Is today the day I stop breathing? These thoughts became home...500 years of water. It would be hard to forget that many years, maybe the water makes her feel home.
😂 Charlie was perfect!
Quyhn could be a potential villain in a sequel. Since she’s been drowning for so long she could become an insane immortal just killing people blindly and then she goes on the hunt for Andy.
She doesn't look to be in a blind rage to me.
@@TheGothicRichard More like Rorke in COD Ghost. That villain was a good character.
This movie reminds me of Ajin: Demi Human manga.
This is a whole movie explanation rather than an ending
more content from daddy?
We stan
Spoiler Alert:
The nematodes from spongebob saved Quynh.
