Si los cañones/pinfeathers, no están listos puede ser algo no recomendable, e incluso terminar en desastre, pero si solo están en sus plumas ya sueltos no pasa nada
its hard to find another parrot for him because he was diagnosed with AVB and was symptomatic a couple years ago. I would need to find another parrot with abv to ensure that he wouldnt get the other bird sick. Long story regarding crackers but according to every vet ive spoken to he shouldnt have survived what he went through when i had adopted him from the rescue but by the graces of god he survived.
sadly they wont come out fast enough. They are uncomfortable to the bird and if someone doesnt manually take it out from the ones on his head he will have trouble getting it out himself.
@Terminator- not this again...crackers is a rescue, he was having seizures, suffering from abv, arthritis and was literally on deaths door when i adopted him. I spent 10s of thousands in vet bills and hundreds of hours helping him recover physically and mentally from his pervious abusive home. He is unable to be released ever, he's older now and has no idea how to forage in the wild and is constantly on medication to help prevent seizures. He's being flight trained still currently so he can freefly in summer months when the weather allows for it so that he can get plent of exercise. I have put in more effort to save this bird than some do to save their own children. He's not my pet, he's my family. He eats a freshly made meal every day, gets every bit of care and attention he wants. He does not belong in the wild.
They aren't removing the feather, just flaking off the itchy keratin sheath around it that is no longer needed. The bird takes care of the ones he can reach on his body but needs help with the ones on his head. A mate would do this in nature.
awe sweet baby must be itching like crazy good your helping em out
Aww so sweet the way he leans into you! He’s like ‘help me please. I’m a bit itchy!’ 😂
Super cute because I can feel the emotional interaction
You can tell he trusts you ❤

Sound reminds me of purring. 🥰
This is why you need 2 parrots
working on it :)
Took a second one for also this reason. My babies never need scritches and rarely they have a pinfeather.

Don't you think it should come out automatically by it's nature 😢

Good to hear the cause ,👍

Pin feather removals are dangerous for birds as it’s gonna become a new feather pls stop or your bird will go bald
Lol what! You're joking right??
