Unfortunately, with the story of Metroids only going through their natural life cycle on SR388, there just aren't that many opportunities to see the chain. We already have 2 games with labs recreating SR388. Still, I appreciated the Prime Series and its divergent mutations of Metroids.
Still would kinda be hard to fit in with the plot, because it's explained that metroids, while always being able to mature into their other forms, need a specific gene to mature into a Queen.
honestly for decades I just bombarded her mouth with all 250+ missiles I had amassed, I had no idea there was an alternate means to just roll up into her throat and bomb inside her chest
I swear to god every time I see someone fight the queen in samus returns this way it makes me mad like why do you stop firing when you you stun her with her mouth WIDE OPEN or atleast use your ice beam a little its actully really good against metroids wow what a shocker but please tell me I'm not the only one who exploited everything that could from the fight I mean it was not the easiest fight but was simplistic and that is good
Malkhodr khady You are so not the only one. When her mouth is open I'm firing every Super Missile I got into it. Never tried using the Ice Beam on her. Gotta give that a whirl since Metroids are weak to it. Thanks. 😀
I’ve always wondered.. how does a Metroid Queen become a Queen? Technically speaking, according to the canon storyline, when the Chozo landed on SR388, they created Metroids as a counter response to the dreaded X parasite. For a time, they were able to subdue the X parasites while the Chozo colonized and studied the life forms of the planet. It was then, somehow someway, the Metroids began to evolve into alpha, beta, gamma, and omega forms. Eventually, a Queen was formed along the way. I suspect that despite the theory some are more capable of evolving into queens, I think some simply arise to become them too- much like their relatives, which they are based off of (i.e. Xenomorphs).
Miikhiel Aali as other m state's only some Metroids have the DNA to turn into a queen. So I like think of it like this, almost all Metroids that are born are males but once in a blue moon she will have a female, and that female will become the Metroid queen once the other one passes away naturally.
I figured it like this, only certain metroids have the gene to evolve into a queen, and with one queen per colony, in the event a queen is not present or is killed. A Omega will evolve into that state to take it's place
That's how evolution works, doe. First, the organizm must adapt, then get stronger and, given time, dominate and become prime species. Yes, metroids were made to be predators, but there were predators ON metroids (aside Samus).
There's something about killing a queen Metroid with a power bomb that seems to be soo much more satisfying in Metroid games that I've done more than once. After reading some comments, I'm doing the same in Samus Returns!
Daniel D it does though. If you go into it’s stomach and lay a power bomb, it does 1000 damage, which is I think the same as 2.5 super missiles. On the third power bomb, it’s an instant kill. So it definitely does hurt
The metroid 2 and AM2R Have such a claustrophobic feeling to it where the remake and Other M fails to replicate. I think that the AM2R captures the feeling perfectly, in it is such a big creature and you fight it in such a tiny space, the remake kinda do it but the fight is much shorter. Its awesome
Wait what? You can kill it in Samus returns exclusively with missiles? I did the other M trick and rolled into its mouth to place a power bomb. Well I guess you learn something new everyday.
If you do the melee counter, when its head is lying on the floor, you can roll in. Make sure to turn on the shield ability or its stomach acid does damage.
Mr Pancake3 Other M was bad for turning Samus into a whinny bitch. I’m mean seriously Other M is set after Samus Returns, After the Prime series, after Super Metroid yet she has a fucking anxiety attack when Ridley comes back even though he’s been revived how many times before then? This game was a serious spit in the face to Metroid fans.
Anthony Chamberlain I am well aware, but my point is why did she have an anxiety attack then, when he has came back multiple times already? It kind of makes her character not like what it was, in the previous titles before then?
Virus Jones it's called PTSD and it affects people. Encountering Ridley a lot probably gave her that. It's like soldiers when they come back from war. But in this case Ridley is the war that always comes back. Still it was a bit uncalled for when she didn't snap out of it.
You finished off the Queen in Samus Returns with regular and super missiles. I did the countering and power bombing it’s insides, because it feels more satisfying that way. I’m so glad they introduced the Melee Counter, and it isn’t just “Shoot to Win”. I’d love to see Samus have that Maylay Counter in a Smash Bros hehehehe😁😁😁😁😁
8:26 Damn, you lost the chance for do a melee counter. If you stay close and keep attacking to Queen's mouth she will do an attack that you can counter and of course, will give you a free window for attack. Also, when Queen do the fire beam at the floor you are supposed to climb the walls with the spiderball.
Perhaps they didn't because even being inside the queen Metroid does damage. This would also make this trick an impossibility on no damage runs. (Unless you're using the Lightning armour)
I wonder if the maker of this video knows in the Gameboy Metroid 2 you can go into the Queen Metroids mouth and bomb it for a quick kill and yes that is the inspiration for the Metroid: Other M fight.
It's a shame that Metroid Other M was so cringy when it came to the storytelling and voice acting. The gameplay was actually really fun and made Samus look awesome. That reflex-dodging was sick. Because of the failure of the overall game, there likely won't ever be another game in its style. They should try again except don't let Samus talk unless it's absolutely necessary (like in Metroid Fusion, she only talks to herself about 3 times and once actually out loud), make the only other text/talking NPC her ship's computer (like in Metroid Prime and in Metroid Fusion), and bring back the scannable lore locations from Metroid Prime!
I have to agree, though one thing I would also add is that first-person aiming should be relegated to a button hold rather than changing controller positions. It's just not comfortable for the human hand.
I liked the voice actors but the lines could've been written better. Cutscenes are fine but players should be given the option to skip them. If we could skip the cutscenes I would've been okay with the game...yet sadly that's not an option so replay value for me is pretty much gone.
It's cheap and frustrating, and not in the good way. Phase one, where it's hemmoraging Metroids is just plain cheap, since you rarely get enough time to freeze and missile one before two more ruin the party, and if all six are there... GOD HELP YOU. And the final phase... nowhere in the game is it even IMPLIED you HAVE to blast her stomach with the missiles, THEN grapple down her throat, and THEN Power bomb her when the game HASN'T EVEN HINTED YOU CAN DO SO AT THAT POINT. It's Guide Dang it for the sake of being cryptic and unfair, and I suffered MANY deaths until I looked up online what I was supposed to do.
That's why you pick your shots. Seriously, you would have had hours of practice with missile transitioning by that point, plus you can dodge when in aim mode so it shouldn't be a problem.
The graphics were really good, and even if it had some issues, the gameplay was good too, and would probably get better if it was used again. I wouldn’t prefer it over a traditional 2D or a Prime game, but it’s a shame so many people aren’t able to appreciate what it did well bc of the unskippable story
@Samuel Z It's more than the story. Being relegated to the WiiMote was a poor gameplay decision, rather Sakamoto wanted to enforce an NES-style of control or not. Other M's linear, repetitive "dodge-and-shoot" gameplay didn't captivate many fans, and the whole "Authorization" gimmick is *not* integrated well, even in a narrative sense. The graphics are bad, but they're a FAR CRY of what the Prime 1 and 2 were able to do on the GC, and especially Prime 3.
I've got a feeling that the Metroid Queen fight in Other M was used as a sort of pilot that they pitched to Nintendo to show them what they could do. It's a shame the whole game didn't turn out that way, cuz that fight is great.
I think it's kind of sad that so little of the feel of the original Metroid II queen encounter was included in the remake. The original is so much more of a scary encounter than the remake. The music, the sudden appearance of the queen's grotesque visage, the way the sprite moves and the harsh noises she makes. None of that was really preserved, even though the 3D metroid queens look like more believable creatures.
To be fair, in 2017, most people playing Samus Returns knew what to expect, and I suspect that's part of the reason as to why the reveal wasn't so spectacular for you. That, and it's not 1991 anymore. By 2017 we've seen most of the grotesque that this series has to offer, so a gigantic Metroid isn't going to have that same impact. Look at Metroid Prime. Nothing comes close to the feeling I got when I first encountered its spider like appearance and devastating attacks. But in 1991, our only other Metroid was 1, which had nothing like this. No omegas, no alphas or gammas, not even sprite work as intricate as Metroid 2's. I still think Samus Returns captured that feeling quite well, in the best way they could. The queen was huge, fat, had rows of razer sharp teeth, devastating attacks that can realistically kill you in only a few hits, good music, etc. Mercury Steam did the best they could to recapture that feeling you felt when the Queen first appeared. They did what they could.
I wonder if they knew that you can parry it and when you get close enough you can roll into it's mouth and blow it up from the inside out was pretty fucking sick.
Man, for all the shits that Other M gets (and deservedly), gotta say, boss fights are pretty cool. But it's funny how, just as I'm think to my self "man this is pretty good", flashbacks about adam instantly starts playing... wow game... really?
As I understand, there was a lot of bad direction going on during development. Which would make sense. But, I don't think Other M is worse than Hunters.
It's painfully repetitive and has zero memorability. The other hunters are cool, but quickly become a nuisance, and the multiplayer deathmatches are nice. That's about it, I'd play Other M any day of the week over it.
Oh, if you want to talk about nightmare-inducing in Metroid Games, look no further than Metroid Fusion and the SA-X. [Which we can expect a return of if the teaser at the end of Samus Returns is to be believed.]
Man I was so glad that I had played Metroid 2 and AM2R before Samus Returns because I knew exactly what to do when I countered the Queen. Ahhhh the Power Bomb feels so satisfying
Did you, NOT get the Spider Ball in SR? It's easier to avoid the Queen's upwards laser beam and her tornado attack with it. You can also get closer to her after she drops health and missile refills to make her counter, where you can use the grapple beam to hook onto the red orb on her tongue, where you can assault her with missiles or place a power bomb at her heart.
If a super metroid remake ever comes around hopefully they will give an explanation of why Samus dropped all her upgrades so fast knowing she will need them on Zebes.
Really shows why Adam/Researcher-dude said power bombs are too destructive, to use in any rooms that have other people in them, and I do like how much damage is done to the room you fought in, by the Power-Bomb alone... Makes me wonder why they aren't that devastating in other 3D titles.
Well I meant more like dynamically devastating. like leaving scorch marks where you used it, or even indents in the ground, from the center of the blast radius. Than again back then with the prime series, (up until 3 was released) it would have been too hard for the Gamecube to do all that. Maybe even the Wii would have issues trying to display that level of destruction, outside of cut-scenes, and pre-rendered in game events.
other M have nice Gameplay but the stupidest and nonsense dialogues of a a "fragile" Samus remove this and yah you got a better metroid , (force federation it's not a metroid game)
if you remove all scenes where she talks and all scenes featuring samus interacting with the federation guys and adam the asshole MOM will feel like a metroid game.
You really should have included AM2R. It just gets on my and many others' nerves to not see it included in the discussion. No one cares if it's a fan game. It's still legitimate. It can even be considered more legitimate than *some* of the main games. >Cough< Other M >Cough
By the same logic, you could list Hyper Metroid in an "Evolution of Metroid escape sequences", for example. Because that's a legitimate Metroid title too, right!!!
I literally thought it was because Other M was not taken with fans very well and they craved a good Metroid game. So when AM2R came out, I thought it just got viral quick and Nintendo was pissed. Lol.
Syvien Spark Actually, Nintendo didnt take down the game. AM2R's creator and developer take it down inmediatly when Nintendo announced Samus Returns. He said that on a interview. The whole Nintendo taking the game down is a Press lie.
the queen Metroid from the new Metroid return of Samus games I should have been maybe a little bigger than the old are they look kind of huge like making a part of its head perhaps
I was actually, but remembered it's a fan game. I liked what they did though where the queen destroys the walls and you keep progressing rather just just staying in one room. It was a nice touch!
Imagine that! Metroid other M takes up most of the video, NO METROID PRIME, MAKING AN HOUR LONG BOSS FIGHT DOESN'T MAKE IT GOOD, JUT MEMORABLE... Not even in a good way...
This isn't a best Metroid boss fights vids. Its specifically Metroid Queen who didn't show up in the Prime series. And how did you take an hour to kill Metroid Prime? Did you not have the missle combos?
but it does put in a shit ton of detail that no other game has ever put into it and it deserves to be cannon if it gets taken down in less than 24 hours!!!
I honestly wish we could see the Metroid's natural evolutionary chain more often. Normal Metroids are cool, but so are Metroids Alpha through Queen.
Harry Guidotti I personally agree it makes them more interesting and intimidating when as the evolve.
Unfortunately, with the story of Metroids only going through their natural life cycle on SR388, there just aren't that many opportunities to see the chain. We already have 2 games with labs recreating SR388.
Still, I appreciated the Prime Series and its divergent mutations of Metroids.
You've been playing too much pokemon. It's metamorphosis. But yeah, agreed.
Still would kinda be hard to fit in with the plot, because it's explained that metroids, while always being able to mature into their other forms, need a specific gene to mature into a Queen.
I wouldn't mind seeing a Metroid in Smash.
If you are not power bombing the Queen's stomach then you are doing it wrong. C'mon people, we gotta keep it classic.
Well he did in other m
@@melissadent502 yeah but that's forced, it was optional in the other games

Super missiles is the super wrong way
I did it all three times in Samus Returns.
Samus is just badass in Samus Returns when she counters the Queen.
And when she defeats Diggernaut

There is no such thing as a Beta Metroid.

Wow that is a neat boss fight from Other M. Not a fan of its impact on the series, but that is a pretty cool boss.
If a super metroid remake ever comes around hopefully they will give an explanation of why Samus dropped all her upgrades so fast knowing she will need them on Zebes.
I doubt a Super Metroid ever gets made. Game was kinda perfect as is, but ya never know.
Other M's control scheme would've been so much more bearable if we could've used the Wii remote and nunchuk.
2:27 wall paper of the decade, people keep crying out about other m's flaws but its still a favorite of mine.
Just a friendly reminder that this is a metroid
I like the queen fight in the fan game best.
The Metroid Queen is like a cross between a crocodile and a tortoise
I'm guessing you don't know that you can lay a bomb in her belly in the original Metroid 2 and in the remake as well.
I noticed that no one tried to use the grapple beam on the tongue when she is stunned. This triggers the Queen Melee Attack.
Could have put in AM2R's version as an honorable mention. Plus the way you finish the Metroid Queen with a Power Bomb is just glorious.
Ah yes. I like the fact that you gib the queen when you do that.
Really shows why Adam/Researcher-dude said power bombs are too destructive, to use in any rooms that have other people in them, and I do like how much damage is done to the room you fought in, by the Power-Bomb alone... Makes me wonder why they aren't that devastating in other 3D titles.
They are. They blow up rock and vaporize enemies.
One thing I wish I could do is remake the trilogy for the PC. Sadly, I lack the skill however.
Kinda disappointed you don't get to power bomb her in samus returns
yoshifan2334 You do, though. :)
You can but the player who battled in this video didnt try to
R.I.P. Spider Ball
実はメトロイド2のクイーンメトロイドもボール状態から体内への侵入が可能
モーフボールになった状態でボムをドカーン!
How could you skip AM2R?!?!?!?
because it is not official game made by Nintendo
Spetsnaz Helmet so what?
The reason why the Queen Metroid in Other M was able to grow crystals on its neck and breath fire is because that it drained Ridley
8:41
Use your spider ball, just like with the Diggernaut.
It seems you have forgotten that you have spiderball during the queen metroid fight in samus returns... that's how you dodge most of her attacks
2:37
Just use regular missiles, so you don’t waste precious ammo.
First
To never noticed that the Queen Metroid had a series.
This is strange, the feeling of a missing battle.
There are none, unless you count AM2R which is unofficial
In this video we demonstrate what it's like on an only-missles diet.
Can we do no damage in MSR? Because it looks almost impossible due to those green balls
(Sorry for writing in Japanese.)
“あれ”がこのシリーズにそぐわないというのは理解できる。ただそれとは別に、Other M以外でも「体内でボム」をやってほしかったというのはあるかな……。
(各々で「体内に侵入する」に至る手順がバラバラというのも面白いところではある)
KtheShooter I understood Other M
*insert comment saying "other m isn't a metroid game" here*
other m isn't a metroid game.
OlympusHeart64 lol
metroid game isn't a other m
other M have nice Gameplay but the stupidest and nonsense dialogues of a a "fragile" Samus remove this and yah you got a better metroid , (force federation it's not a metroid game)
if you remove all scenes where she talks and all scenes featuring samus interacting with the federation guys and adam the asshole MOM will feel like a metroid game.
Ok but what is the hole in the floor under the queen for in the original fight
Evolution of batles of me? Ok
Pd: my name its on spanish, but is queen metroid
I didn't know that "El Tipo" acually means "Queen Metroid"
ほんっとotherMかっこいいなぁ..
queen meteroid's head reminds me of biolante from the heisei godzilla series
You really should have included AM2R. It just gets on my and many others' nerves to not see it included in the discussion. No one cares if it's a fan game. It's still legitimate. It can even be considered more legitimate than *some* of the main games. >Cough< Other M >Cough
By the same logic, you could list Hyper Metroid in an "Evolution of Metroid escape sequences", for example. Because that's a legitimate Metroid title too, right!!!
Warren Young,
I know, right?
Samus is such a badass!
Now I'm wondering if Nintendo only made a remake of Metroid 2 because of the AM2R? Makes me think. Hmmmm...
Victoria It was already in development when AM2R had it's release. Why do you think Nintendo shut it down so quick after it gained popularity?
I literally thought it was because Other M was not taken with fans very well and they craved a good Metroid game. So when AM2R came out, I thought it just got viral quick and Nintendo was pissed. Lol.
Syvien Spark Actually, Nintendo didnt take down the game. AM2R's creator and developer take it down inmediatly when Nintendo announced Samus Returns. He said that on a interview. The whole Nintendo taking the game down is a Press lie.
They were initially going to remake fusion but Nintendo turned down Mercury Steam.
Ariel Cerecer Samus returns was anounced at E3 this year. AM2R was taken down LAST year. Where are you getting these facts? Nintendo DMCA'd AM2R
Granted, I do like the Other M design.
Every Kirby Blowout (or something) Bosses
@Rated M it's a mario game
Rated M for Metroid
So... it edns then Super Metroid (snes) its a direct sequel.
Hope nintendo do this sequel for 3ds aswell.
the queen Metroid from the new Metroid return of Samus games I should have been maybe a little bigger than the old are they look kind of huge like making a part of its head perhaps
In the first one, why does samus run into the projectiles???
Was anyone else hoping to see the fight from AM2R?
Varagod Fangames are not included
I was actually, but remembered it's a fan game. I liked what they did though where the queen destroys the walls and you keep progressing rather just just staying in one room. It was a nice touch!
I was
Varagod yah me too
Me
dude other m has some smokin fucking graphics. i dissected that game.
I like the design in other M best. However, boss fight could have been better
Music and visuals slapped tho
Imagine that! Metroid other M takes up most of the video, NO METROID PRIME, MAKING AN HOUR LONG BOSS FIGHT DOESN'T MAKE IT GOOD, JUT MEMORABLE... Not even in a good way...
This isn't a best Metroid boss fights vids. Its specifically Metroid Queen who didn't show up in the Prime series.
And how did you take an hour to kill Metroid Prime? Did you not have the missle combos?
Where is the Battle Form AM2R?
Its not an official game.
Teknanam so what?
Other m had such fun controls. Too bad they butchered it.
2:26 PRO DODGING SKILLZ
aww no AM2R!?!
becuase it got removed from the internet! I think that is is more cannon then the real gamez!
but it does put in a shit ton of detail that no other game has ever put into it and it deserves to be cannon if it gets taken down in less than 24 hours!!!
well I feel like FIVE FU*KING YEARS OF UNPAID WORK deserves a spot on the shelf of metroid games (even thought its a digital download).
@@liamdalemon1525,
Actually, he spent 10 years making Am2r!
... nintendo... wtf...
7:20 the biggest explosion ever
Question does anyone else turn on the Aeion beam burst and just 360 rotate the hell out of that just for fun until the bar is empty?
I do that to recreate the moment in Metroid Fusion where the SA-X is blasting the secret Metroid lab.
I do
You forgot the fight in am2r
that's not official Metroid game
it isn't made by Nintendo
You QUESTION THE WORD OF THE MIGHTY JIMMY!?
Spetsnaz Helmet so what?
forgot am2r's fight ;p
It's just a fangame tho
Ragnar Ahlman so what?
You aren't even going to put am2r in this, wow
I see how it is
AM2R had the best Metroid Queen. Fight me.
You didn't add AM2R version
