I think Armenia decided to just have fun this year with a fun song. Sure there aren’t many lyrics, but I think that’s the whole point of the message of the song. Jako says don’t tell me what to do because I’m a free woman and I just want to have fun singing and dancing. Armenia has sent a lot of well produced polished songs the past few years and decided to shake it up.
The rooster, pomegranates and carpets are clearly intended to evoke images from the famous film by Armenian director Sergei Parajanov called The Color of Pomegranates. BTW, the pomegranate is a symbol of Armenia.
Sweet Armenian sister is awesome! The nickname "Ladaniva" is the most epic artistic name anyone ever gave oneself. Song is great, uplifting, love it. Love from Serbia!
People who are pointing out "Jako," lacking in lyrics & the lala in the song, are conveniently forgetting Konstrakta, who didn’t even SING, she just talked through the song. Another recent ESC entry that comes to mind was in 2017; Romania with "Yodel It." Why the whole song was mostly just yodelling & some lyrics thrown in, here & there. How come no one really complained or discussed these entries, to the point of "Jako?!" So some acts can be very original, creative, theatrical & avant-garde!
This is my #4 song this year. The video looks mad, but there is a lot of symbolism in the story that is being told. The car, for example, is a Lada Niva, after which the duo got their name, and the Pomegranates being thrown down the hill is a rejection of their symbolizing that a woman will break a pomegranate to ensure that she will bear children after marriage. I cannot see it winning, but a daily dose of this song would certainly brighten your mood.
I'm not sure if lyrics have ever mattered much in Eurovision. 'La La La' was literally a winning song. She is very impressive live. She has amazing charisma and facial expressions and her vocals are always flawless. It's just a party song really.
hi georgina! unfortunately the translation of this song doesn’t do it justice, jako has some of the best lyrics of the contest focusing on female empowerment and going against what is expected of women
1st of all in folk songs there are never many verses of lyrics; they are mainly poetic words of symbolism. Secondly, Konstrakta never had any vocals or singing, she just "talked" throughout the song. So some acts are very original, creative, theatrical & avant-garde. In this song, Jako mainly showcases a vocalistion of the song, with powerful VOCALS & creative music, "sounds" in the performance of the song. I believe you & everyone else understood the song & Entertainment value much better, with Jako' live performance at the ES Madrid Pre party. Everyone was shocked at how she OWNED that stage & thoroughly entertained everyone. Jako, even used strong Whistling, to showcase the song, Act, as a HUGE VILLIAGE BANQUET PARTY, WITH TRADITIONAL & CULTURAL ARMENIAN OLD & MODERN VALUES. ALL TOGETHER, IT WAS JUST A BLAST OF A PARTY!!!! She brought the house down in Madrid & the crowds are saying it was the most enjoyable & entertaining act of the night! Now that eveyone "gets" this act, I believe she will do very well in the ESC Grand Final!!!! ❤🎉🎉🎉🥳🥳🥳💃💃💃 🍻🍾🥂🍻🍺🍹🍸🍷🍶 HAHAHAHAHAHAH I HOPE, but also BELIEVE, that LADANIVA will receive high points from the Public Voting & also the Worldwide Public Voting! With the JURY voting, you never know how professional they will be with their Scoring. Also, what MOOD will the JURIES be in & we have to take this into account as well.
Hello, Georgina! if you want the same carpets, then you need to fly to Armenia or America, because the same rugs can only be found in America or Armenia. These are very, very ancient carpets. which were. made in Armenia. there are Armenian symbols with crosses. and these carpets are very expensive. Well, you can buy them from us in Armenia. so we are waiting for you in our country.
Recall the beloved old song that had merely three words, 'Fly Robin, fly.' Despite its brevity, it was immensely popular. Hence, let's not critique the concise lyrics of this beautiful song. Instead, let's appreciate the musical arrangement, the visually appealing video clip, and the overall performance.
I understand that for some people the short lyrics might be an issue, but lyrics is not everything. Look at Norway 1995. It's one of the best winners or even THE best! I like Armenia and I think the staging will be huge. Sure qualifier imo. Greetings from Germany🇩🇪❤🇦🇲
It’s supposed to be little lyrics, it’s the point. This type of ethnic traditional balkan style with Armenians sounds usually lyrics are straight to the point and music enhances the feeling.
Your reaction is kinda disappointing. Being a vocal coach you told nothing much about the vocals. For me this song is awesome. So many instruments, so much joy, the (few) lyrics are on point. And her voice is brilliant. One of the best entries this year, just too short. I could listen to all the 'la la la's' for hours. 😍
Ladaniva have included so much symbolizm in this video that its really hard to detect to the naked eye. Here are some cheeky ones. 😝 1) The Pomegranates - Pomegranates are a national symbol in Armenia and they represent fertility and prosperity. Across the middle east, Greece, India and many other parts of the world, pomegranates also symbolise fertility. Some take it as far as saying it is a symbol to represent female genetalia. Using a symbol like this will no doubt capture the attention of viewers / voters in the middle east, India and beyond. 2) The rooster - Univerally, roosters symbolise masculinity. Some would even say they represents a males genetalia. The rooster is also the national symbol of France, where Louis Thomas (the instrumentalist) is from and where Jackalin (Jako) and him met. Im not sure if the rooster is intended to represent France, or Jako taming / overpowering masculinity, or both or even something else... But combining the imagery of pomegranates, roosters, as well as her cheeky expressions and lyrics about female empowerment / breaking traditinal norms is sending me a clear message 😏 I want to know if others agree or think I'm crazy 😂 let me know with a 👍🏻 or 👎🏻 3) the car - the car is literally a Lada Niva. The pair chose this name when they found out their parents both drove Lada nivas, a durable and capable enough to effortlessly handle almost any terrain, much like themselves. In terms of the low quantity of lyrics. I thought about this and had 2 thoughts. 1) By having very few lyrics she is allowing Louis to showcase his multi instrumental talent and shine the spotlight on him uninterrupted. 2) As the song is completely in Armenian, 99% of the Eurovision audience will have no idea whats being sung anyway... So why waste time on lyrics that your target audience wont understand? Instead I think they are using the time to give the audiqnce something to dance to and soak up the moment. Just a few of my thoughts. This year my points are going to 1) Armenia 2) Greece 3) Cypress or Italy (depending on live show)
Somehow, when you pause, the video jumps forward with pieces of the clip being un-played. I am not sure if this is an edit you do, but I did not notice it from your movements in the video. YOur player might be a bit "buggy"?..
I fully agree to you. Very catchy song, great singer and the group (know them from a bit before) but lyrics are missing. So they are having fun which is ok 🤣
The contest is full of questionable and lazy songs with zero quality lyrics EVERY YEAR. No country was called out for that ever. Hell, half the entries this year are cringe including the Netherlands, yet they are praised while Ladaniva is criticized. Make it make sense.
It's a nice song but after a few times it starts to bore me. It was one of my favorites but it's dropping on my list. Although it's still 4th on my list since there's only four that I like this year 😅😅
Funny how you analyzed everything from the instruments, the lyrics, the looks, the vocals on this one but never bothered to do that with the greek song (except of saying you are confused and focusing on the video only the whole song long). :/ Anyway, the song of armenia sounds and looks fun and it is about her being a tomboy and not going with the norms that are expected from her as a woman in armenia because she wants to be independet and do what she likes instead of being put into the typical role the women are put in their culture (like the old women shown in the video doing typical "womens work".
Thanks for your reaction to this wonderful & happy song! All my luv for Jako (Jacqueline) & Louis, Ladaniva. They're a couple.. LET'S GOOOOO 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 YAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY GO JAKO & LOUIS, LADANIVA! ARMENIA! 💥💃😂🎉 ❤💙🧡 SING ❤ DANCE 💙 JUMP 🧡 CLAP ☆♡☆♡☆ & WHISTLE TO JAKO, ARMENIA 💥 🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲 Note: LADANIVA is mainly a WORLD MUSIC group.
You are just caught in a lie. How can you claim it is even an azerbarani instrument when you don’t know how duduk sounds? This is a shvi, eejit. Have you ever heard duduk? Embarrassing.
I can’t stop listening to this song, her charismatic energy is out of this world, big fan from Paraguay 🇵🇾
💯
The rooster, pomegranates and carpets are clearly intended to evoke images from the famous film by Armenian director Sergei Parajanov called The Color of Pomegranates. BTW, the pomegranate is a symbol of Armenia.
"There's literally no lyrics in this song. NONE". Proceeds to read the lyrics
🤣🤣
Lalalaylallallalalala
The flute-like instrument is called "shvi".
Sweet Armenian sister is awesome! The nickname "Ladaniva" is the most epic artistic name anyone ever gave oneself. Song is great, uplifting, love it. Love from Serbia!
JAKOOO!!!
The Armenian symbolic fruits from antiquity are the Apricot, Grapes & Pomegranates. The Pomegranate also symbolises fertility & abundance. :)
The small wind instrument is called SHVI
Armenia shook the stage and transferred her energy everywhere in the whole world.
Lada niva are awesome!
Love from Greece 🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷
My 12 Points this year! It's going to do a lot better than a lot of people think right now 🤩🐓🇦🇲 Love from Germany! 🇩🇪❤️
I like her she is so charismatic❤
People who are pointing out "Jako," lacking in lyrics & the lala in the song, are conveniently forgetting Konstrakta, who didn’t even SING, she just talked through the song. How come no one really complained or discussed these entries, to the point of "Jako?!" So some acts can be very original, creative, theatrical & avant-garde!
I love it! She's so lively!
Finally Armeniaa thanks

Not all wonderful songs like that win the contest. But they win first place in our hearts and a very good reputation in the history of the contest
My top 3 ❤️
this is why i watch eurovision , tradition music and folk dance . Makes me happy 😁😄😃😀
The kind of flute that he uses is a "Duduk". It's a special flute created in Armenia ❤
Is it? I didn't know duduks could sound happy. I've only heard them used hauntingly, in laments etcetera.
it's actually not duduk; this type of flute is called "shvi."
That is shvi, not duduk.
It’s a shvi, not duduk:)
It's not the "Duduk," which is made of the apricot wood. This is a flute instrument called the "Shvi," which is made of the walnut wood. :)
The pomegranates have a meaning!
This one gets stuck in my head regularly
I loooooooooooove this song!
I'm not sure if lyrics have ever mattered much in Eurovision. 'La La La' was literally a winning song.
She is very impressive live. She has amazing charisma and facial expressions and her vocals are always flawless. It's just a party song really.
This is one of my favourites. Such a lovely happy song but so different from other uptempo songs
hi georgina! unfortunately the translation of this song doesn’t do it justice, jako has some of the best lyrics of the contest focusing on female empowerment and going against what is expected of women
BRAVO ARMENIA ❤🥰🎻🌳🇦🇲
Bellissimo
❤🧡💛💚💙Armenia

Partying in ARMENIA with LADANIVA for Eurovision 2024

For me, a brillant discover and in a native language...waoh, top song...will be my 12 points this year...from France ❤❤❤
nos encanta la propuesta de Armenia, estamos deseando escucharlos en directo, esta es la versión de estudio

It will be interesting to see the staging for this song.

Greetings from Germany🇩🇪❤🇦🇲
The name is zhaquo, the j is like the second g in garage, and the a is like the sigh ahhh (like the French Jaqueline. Like frera jaque, frera jaque.)
I like it!
Love this one ❤
Armenia so so good 🇦🇲👍🏻❤️🔥
The flute solo is a recorder, called the dream recorder
Jako bravo super💃👏👏👏🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲
It's cheerful & folklore
a 🙂
I like your comments because they are honest and professional.
Sometimes people tries too hard to make "meaningful lyrics", this is just a fun song.
For a vocal coach reaction there is very little commentary on the actual singing
It’s supposed to be little lyrics, it’s the point. This type of ethnic traditional balkan style with Armenians sounds usually lyrics are straight to the point and music enhances the feeling.
The flute instrument is called shvi in armenian. It's old traditional armenian instrument.
I don't know if this will make the top 10 but should. qualify. I think it will be a crowd pleaser as it's easy to sing along to!
The “flute” type of instrument you were asking about is the duduk, a traditional Armenian instrument :)
Sorry it's not the duduk, this flute is called a SHVI. :)
Lol, it’s not Duduk in the music video. Do you know how duduk sounds?
Love You ARMENIA
Your reaction is kinda disappointing. Being a vocal coach you told nothing much about the vocals. For me this song is awesome. So many instruments, so much joy, the (few) lyrics are on point. I love the energy of this one, it makes me smile but it's not for me, but good luck.
👏👏👏👌❤️❤️❤️🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲
She thinks Armenia won’t qualify. I think Armenia will qualify
So good!!! Love the ambition to just not have lyrics haha. From America

OK, no. These are Edits. I will keep the comment to promote the channel though :)
Great song... it's a pity they didn't spend some time to add some real lyrics tho
ARMENIA LALALALALALALALA❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Fun, full on attitude, bright and hopefully with a good live staging. I enjoyed this should qualify but not a winner this year I think.
❤❤❤❤
hopefully they can carry this song on the stage! it’s great but the video deffo helps
I fully agree to you. Very catchy song, great singer and the group (know them from a bit before) but lyrics are missing. So they are having fun which is ok 🤣
Got so disappointed by the lyrics 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lalala lalala
poor lyrics... 2:40 mins song idk kinda lazy and its a song that they revamped actually coz they released that last june? idk

Wow i realy Loved it 🇦🇲🇦🇲
🥰
nice vibes good message but wish there was a bit more. made for stage, hopefully it will shine there.
It's a nice song but after a few times it starts to bore me. It was one of my favorites but it's dropping on my list. Although it's still 4th on my list since there's only four that I like this year 😅😅

Come on her reaction to Zari was more substantial than this.
Armenia is funny chicken 🐔 😂❤
LALALALALALALALA
👋👋👋🇦🇲
Of course there are lyrics and one of the best would be nice to spent more time to understand the song before you criticise it.❤
A good song doesn't even need ANY lyrics.
It's a traditional Armenian song...sounds like oriental music to me.
Xorosho
😂😂😂lalalala
Армения❤❤❤
🇦🇲❤️🏆❤️🇦🇲ARMENIA
12 pts go to Armenia❤🇦🇲
pure lyrics sadly
The song is fine but the lyrics are just la lala lalalalaylalalalala which irritates me because it has potential
Sounds like Bollywood
Not even close
I was looking forward to your rea tion, but then you got nothing positive to say. Please watch the video first!
Thanks for your reaction to this wonderful & happy song!
All my luv for Jako (Jacqueline) & Louis, Ladaniva. They're a couple..
LET'S GOOOOO 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

The instrument is knownss as duduk in Armenia and as tutek in Azerbaijan.
😂🤣😅🤪👽 azik, azerbaran
azerbaran 😁🤣😊
