What is POR-15 Tank Sealer?

Seals Tanks against fuels containing ETHANOL.

This tank repair sealer kit includes:
- POR-15 Cleaner Degreaser (was Marine Clean) to dissolve and remove gum and varnish that accumulates over the years;
- POR-15 Metal Prep (was Prep and Ready) to remove rust, etch the interior surface, and leave a zinc phosphate coating to prevent further rusting.
- POR-15 Petrol Tank Sealer
- a brush in case it is necessary to externally reinforce any badly corroded areas.
- Complete with full instructions.
Please note that once the tank sealer has been applied, you CANNOT reseal over it as it will not adhere to itself.
NOT Suitable for Plastic and Fibreglass Tanks

I just used this on two old 50 gallon aluminum diesel tanks that were on an old rig. They actually don't have leaks because I welded up everything. I'm doing the coating just in case and to extend the life of the tanks.

I think I might have a slow leak in my boats aluminum tank - built in. I can’t slosh things around much and my only tank access is though a 2 inch hole for the sender. Could I made it work? I could lift my trailer tongue up and down with the tractor… TIA

hrm. It would be a pain but I would get one of those dryer vent cleaner kits with the flexible plastic tubes that attach to the end of the brush. Attach the other end to a drill and you should be able to work the brush around the tank. You'll still need to clean the tank + metal prep + thorough rinse and have to pump that out first and really make sure it's dry inside after.
