Learning another language in your second language is INSANE. Multilingual king 👑
English is my second language, Dutch is my first language. There are just better resources to learn almost any language in English. I feel like a lot of people do it that way. + English/Dutch/French aren't that far apart.
It's not insane though. Like the comment above said that's pretty normal for someone who speaks english as their second language for example.
@@priiifrg I still think it’s highly impressive even if it is normal for people who speak English as a second language! It’s certainly not easy
@@irissupercoolsy I heard Dutch despite being a very developed language. Has mostly paperback resources and lacks digital resources. I met a Chilean who learned it for fun and that is what she told me.
forreal, he's so cool for that!!
You dropped some SERIOUS wisdom with "nothing is hard, it's all just a matter of time". I'm going to need a minute to sit with that one.
Totally agreed. A very different perspective from how I've been seeing things lately
This is a crazy full circle moment. I found your videos when I was in high school and you inspired me to travel and learn languages to the point where they are some of my biggest passions in life. After I graduated, I started learning Arabic and now, after 4 years of study, Levantine-Arabic is my strongest foreign language. And now you’re learning Arabic! How cool is that!
😲i love that ben!!!!!!
On this note, definitely study the grammar and vocabulary of Modern Standard Arabic. When you’re ready to learn to really speak it, study Levantine-Arabic or shammy colloquially, because it is the most similar to MSA. This is the dialect spoken in Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, Palestine, and Iraq. I cannot wait for your future Jordan travel videos because you will fall in love with the country.
👍
me too i started following him and jo when i was 15-16 (2014-15) and still here! love his channel!
Same here! I found him when i was in high school through his videos about learning french and now i teach french😅
YES - WE ARE TRYING NEW THINGS FOR THE HELL OF IT! THAT'S WHAT WE DO ON THIS CHANNEL.
Hi Damon! I've been watching your videos for almost a decade now, and was so stoked when you mentioned your desire for learning Arabic - I'd love to embark on this journey with you and offer a friendly online chitchat as additional practice (I'm of North African descent but grew up in the Gulf so I'll definitely help you navigate the dialect differences🤣) Let me know if you'd be interested!🤩

Thats like not knowing who beyonce is
i had to pause the video and walk away and come back lmfaoooo
Oooooh who is that 😂 I will look her up
I Just can't wait to see "speaking 24 hours in Arabic" video lol
1:46 in Arabic each letter has an isolated, initial, median, and final form. So for the game you're talking about you would use the letters in their isolated form.
Thank you i was gonna say the same thing!
was gonna say the same thing
Thank youu i was about to comment
I started learning arabic just to feel what quran was saying and it was the best decision i ever took in my life!
Keep going, I support you
MashaAllah that’s amazing!!!

How do you make taking a "mundane" class so interesting to watch?! Your storytelling skills are beautiful
It's only mundane if you don't want to be there.
Agreed!!
Seriously! I’ll watch anything Damon makes

YOU NOTICE 🥹🤗🥰

this video was shot on which device ?? also what editing software does damon use ? His storytelling skills the cinematography color grading is INSANEEE... love it
I'm egyptian , and your arabic is even better than mine 😂
Specifically the letter “ع”: I remember that I did not know how to say it until I was 9 years old
keep the great work 🎉
i'm egyptian too! that's adorableeee :( did you pronounce them as ء ?
OMG ! First of all ! Really impressed and inspired by you learning arabic !! I am lebanese and I live i Paris. Great job Damon you did so well. Second ! Talk about a coincidence, your teacher Rita was with me in highschool, she's really sweet and has a beautiful singing voice in arabic actually. Fun fact about your lovely teacher.
WHAT!!! What a small world!!!
Hi, thanks for your comment! So just to confirm, all Arabs understand Lebanese/Levantine Arabic?
Abu dhabi’s literal translation is the father of the gazelle because in arabic abu (father) is used to indicate that thats a thing they are known for because gazelles for example we can say ur the father of languages same as when u have a son the call abu (insert ur sons name)
As someone who has studied both French and Arabic, this is so funny to watch and see you discover Arabic. It reminds me of when I first learned it. You will soon see that Arabic script in any font in any textbook will always be tiny. That will never change, unfortunately. 😂 as I continue to take Arabic online, I still run into this all the time and have to squint when I read sometimes. Great to see you branch into a non-romance language! ❤
It’s so cool that you exist. I love your art and expression
The advice I’ve had for which dialect to choose is that Egyptian Arabic is used in a lot of movies as the Arabic ‘Hollywood’ is in Egypt.
I've heard that as well!!!
It’s true!
in my case i'd learn moroccan arabic because i'm from spain and it's the closest arabic country plus there are a lot of second-generation families here so it's good for practicing
Syrian/Lebanese dialects are better, Syria is huge in series and the Syrian dialect is closer to the official Arabic.
nooo don't do egyptian, they have a lot of words that for example levantine (syrian, lebanse, palestinian) don't have. i'd go for one of the levantine dialects, sounds nice, widely understood, a lot of speakers in europe
I feel this title, I just graduated my yoga teacher training and I’m like damn time to learn Spanish or sign language or sum.
I'm also a language teacher and let me tell you when she knew she'd be on camera SHE👏STEPPED👏IT👏UP👏FOR👏THE👏CAMERA
Watching this on my 31 day arabic duolingo streak 🔥 he really did that👁👄👁 there is so much life out there to be learned about 👏🏼
LOVE the editing in this video!! The music, what you’re sharing, the shots, just awesome
Nancy ajram making a cameo lol, arab people loves her ❤❤
I love your work! You’re so creative. I came upon you with your wales trip and I sent it to my Welch friend.
THE EDITING IS SOO GOOD DAMON !!! music and story and shot pacing are literally tv quality
Omg when you said you didn't know one Arabic speaking singer I was like, How does Damon not know Nancy Ajram!?! Then the story of you having seen her in Dubai and the teacher playing her in class...hahah wonderful how life plays out.
The world cup song lady!
Or even Fairouz?

so cool Damon!!!!! your content is so helpful for me. THANK U for staying online and showing your life. The inspiration I get from you to continue learning and paving my own path is invaluable. so much love for your amazing mind.
that's good to hear - cuz sometimes i feel "over it"!!!
i am excited to watch you slowly learn it and get better
I really love your videos. They help me with fighting anxiety. Have a great day!
My story with Arabic started very similarly: I love learning languages so one day I randomly decided to take some classes. I didn't mean to learn it fluently, I was just curious. Two years later now I'm living in Jordan as an exchange student, learning Arabic all day. I'm absolutely in love with this language, it was the best decision of my life. I also agree that Arabic is not impossibly hard you just have to put a lot of effort and time into it. That moment when something clicks in your head and it suddenly all makes sense is so amazing!! Keep going, I'm so excited for more Arabic learning content!:))
im from Saudi Arabia. You're arabic improved so quick!! You've inspired me to do something new
Honestly both your pronunciation and writing are great! You motivated me to work harder on my French! Merci, shokran Damon ;))
the way I did the exact same thing at the beginning of this year!!! I'm screaming, this was actually v good revision for me, much luv
You're awesome for this. Also your teacher's accent when speaking Arabic is soooo beautiful
I just LOVEEE your videos! The editing, the storytelling, the topics... it just inspires me every time
i first found your videos when i was 15, and now im about to turn 19. because of your videos, i felt inspired enough to move abroad to germany for a year. now im B2-C1. next year im moving to the netherlands for college. your unabashed fearlessness and intrigue with life no matter the age has changed my life to the better by providing me and many other people an amazing role model. thanks damon 😊
Damon this is a very cool video. Thank you for sharing these insights about Arabic language
BRO: "Yallah" (To God; let's go), "Adios" (To God I go; goodbye); also "abd" is slave but one could also say a "servant" or "one who is in in a state of divine service to God".
Ana tailbh “ I am a student “ is used for the female
Ana Talib is for the male , I’m so impressed you did amazing job! You have to come to Saudi Arabia to teach you more
Ig it was because the whole class was full of women that he picked it up that way

Hi Damon, watching this from Mumbai (India) as I am about to go to bed. Found your observation about the word game in Arabic really interesting. As usual a huge fan of your editing style. Recently discovered your channel and have been binge watching so it was good to see a present content notification. Much love❤
king always proving that life is what you make of it. loooove this return to the classroom!
I took a term of Arabic (10 weeks) my last year of college and loved learning it. Pronunciation was definitely the hardest part, but felt so good when my native speaker professor told me I spoke well towards the end of the term. We had to learn vocab for both the formal dialect and levantine (which I think we chose collectively as a class). Beautiful and lovely language I want to get back into it.
you doing great dude !!
This was great!!
first time i stumble on your channel, really great & original content, keep going!
Love it, Damon! 💙
I was smiling the whole video 🙂your Arabic is good just keep practicing. 👍🏾 برافو
my Eid gift fr! thank you for another vid
I’m impressed by your pronunciation! I think you would sound like a native speaker
I understand u sooooo much. Both of my parents are Algerians, but they never taught me how to speak in Arabic or respond in this specific dialect, so I only knew how to understand the dialect but not to speak it. I took Arabic classes (classical arabic) in university for 1 semester and I loved it. It wasn't that easy at first since the class was in English (its my second language). I used to stress a lot in those classes bc the big majority of the class already knew the basics. Even tho , the teacher was so lovely and nice with us, I was so chocked when I found out that ended up with an A in this class ^^. I don't know how to speak it yet lol, but I learned how to read and write in Arabic !
as an arabic speaker you really nailed that!! and WOW i just discovered your channel immediately subscribed!!
This was so great and inspiring and motivating because I too dropped out of my traditional schooling 10 yrs ago due to family stuff and am trying to return and revisit classes I’m interested in this fall … fiber arts though! Love your vibe
I loved this one!! I'm literally going to grad school (which I never thought I'd do) because I've gotten bored lol. Education will keep the mind in motion for sure
this was so fun to watch u gave me motivation to learn new language
I love seeing your Arabic journey 😊
C'est très motivant ça! Ne laisse pas le passé te relie. Je suis content de revoir your videos again. Kudos ^_^
As someone who’s been watching you for ages and speaks Arabic, English, and French (learned from your course!) this video is my favourite one ever :P
This is really inspiring!, makes me wanna keep going with learning Spanish and French
I’m Laura:) I’ve been watching you for years, Damon and you are low key living my dream life if I never had to worry about money or staying in proximity of family. After learning mandarin to a proficient level I started learning the Arabic alphabet! Good luck!
I have been watching your videos since forever, I remember thinking French would be hard for you to learn since I'm Algerian and know how confusing the grammar can get. But you did it! And now I see this video and I'm thinking there's absolutely no way, lol. I'm impressed you could start writing in Arabic so quickly!
And Damon, I have the perfect singer for you, he's called Saint Levant, his songs are in English, French and Arabic! I'm absolutely sure you'll like his tunes. He's half Algerian, too.
Salam!
I'm arab and i loved your video so much , also ,i really loved your pronunciation in arabic it makes you sound like a very satisficated person, good luck with life keep it up❤❤❤
This actually is really not bad at all!! From an arabic speaker person you nailed it.
I LOVED THIS VIDEOOOOOOOOO❤❤❤❤ SUPER DUPER THANKS TO YOU❤❤❤❤
You are doing really well 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💯, بالتوفيق ( means good luck in Arabic )
